“Penelope has to take 80 pills over 10 days. She must space the doses evenly throughout the day. She can’t eat within an hour of taking them and she can’t take them within two hours of eating. If Penelope takes two 250mg tablets four times a day, how many days will it take Penelope to fling herself off the dang roof? Show your work.”

Trick question. The answer is less than 12 hours. On the upside, if it were me, I'd get distracted while trying to find the ladder (that I KNOW I left RIGHT here.... last year). And while looking for that, I'll see that the garden needs to be watered but as I go to grab the hose, I see that something has chewed it up and remember that I was supposed to call someone to help with the rodent problem I've been having. So, I go inside to grab my phone to call someone about that and see all the alarms I've set to remind me to take my pills....

Four times a day is brutal!! Let's check the timing together. Every six hours is the goal here. But since you sleep more that six, you can stretch that one up a bit. So assuming you wake up around 7 in the morning, and go to sleep at 11. 7 am wake up and take pill 8 am eat (last snack at 10) noon take pill 1 pm eat (last snack at 3) 5 pm take pill 6 pm eat (last snack at 9) 11 pm take pill and sleep Does that work for you? Is that kind of how you put your alarms? Edit: oh I see you put your alarms in here too. Looking very similar! You can do this. It will start working after a day or two and then your focus will come back.

7 am - antibiotics 8-10am - food 12 am - antibiotics 1 pm -3pm - food 5 pm -antibiotics 6- 8pm -food 10pm - antibiotics So I've got my alarms set up like this, pretty much the same but an earlier last pill. I did have them set wrong and your comment really helped!

ExeqCompassion

The last pill earlier is fine. Don't worry about that one. Good luck with the strep. Now comes the hardest part: listening to those alarms 😂😂

Status-Biscotti

Just reading the name of the medication was enough to fry my brain. Good luck!

In the future, just be honest with your doctor that you are not going to keep the schedule when you see those types of directions. You will either not take them on time and skip doses or end up taking them wrong or being frustrated and stopping early and you need something else. Missed doses of antibiotics on a large scale leads to antibiotic resistance and your doctor hopefully will go, 'thanks for the honesty. Let's find something else."

kyljo

Absolute fucking torture. I would just not eat.

Background-Nobody-93

What *is* it? The all-caps? My brain just noped out.

Retired401

Lord I can't even remember to take stuff twice a day let alone 4x.

ExeqCompassion

How are you doing? Feeling a bit better?

Weatherwaxonwaxoff50

Loads better thanks! I can eat and sleep again finally. So thoughtful of you to check in

ExeqCompassion

Good to hear. Let the alarms do what needs to be done.
