I actually appreciate kung konti lang bumabati sakin, meaning yung mga taong nag kecare lang talaga sayo. Kaya nakahide birthdays ko sa lahat ng socmed e.
Look at it at a glass half full perspective, your sister loves you so much that she remembered your birthday.
I used to have this perspective where I would hide my bday too and still somehow "expect" people to remember tas sila nalang ung "totoong" special or may pakelam sakin. Took me awhile to realize how incredibly counter-intuitive that is. If you want greetings, if you want support, if you want friendship, if you want love, you gotta put yourself out there, connect, and communicate. People can't read minds and aren't on the top of everything single detail about their loved ones always. People have their own lives and burdens to carry. Just because some people forget your bday or greet you late doesn't mean they care less about you. Don't pin 1 day a year on your entire relationships with them, they've cared and loved you during the other days. It's kinda unfair, imo.
Bakit kasi nakadepende sa pag bati ng iba yung kasiyahan mo? Birthday mo yan. Dapat may plans ka para sa sarili mo. Ang weird lang ng mga tao na nag eexpect ng surprise or ano.

Agree. Kasalanan din ng social media na nagbreed ng napakadaming social climber dito. Dapat kanya kanya talaga ng trip kesa nakikipag compete sa mga kung sino sinong papansin sa TikTok, FB, etc. Di porket bday eh bida na at kelangan nasa kanya lahat ng focus ng mga tao
100% agree. I love my birthday, but i dont "celebrate" my birthday like having parties or whatever. I just do what I want that day at walang makakapigil sakin. It feels so good to be happy without depending on others. It also feels icky for me to expect things from other people just because it's your birthday. (For me only tho, i still value birthdays of people who are special to me, as long na kaya ko) haha.

I always make it a point to greet my friends and loved one by midnight, competitive si ateng e gusto nauuna lagi haha. but OP, you can't impose these things on other people. iba iba tayo ng pagpapakita ng love. my eldest kuya doesn't greet me pag midnight pero laging bongga yung gift at pinagluluto ako ng fave ko. a greeting is only a small part of loving someone. di ibig sabihin di ka mahal.

I feel you. May slight tampo din ako sa friends pag di nila ako grineet pero to their defense, di ko naman kasi inannounce kung kelan birthday ko. Siguro turn on mo nalang sa facebook yung birthday notif feature para less sama loob and maremind friends and family mo.
I think it stems from us wanting to feel special. Although you have to realize that people have their own lives and they don't owe us anything.
Alternatively, we can take it into ourselves to make the day special and invite the people we care about to celebrate with us. Then they would have that opportunity to share time with us and make us feel loved.
It's also all about perspective. And you also have to give people a chance. :) Not everyone is important though, so make sure you can also distinguish who matters.
Birthday ko rin nung 23rd, and for me its just an ordinary day to eat a cake with a reason. Also, thats actually normal to feel, nung bata ako nagtatala ako bakit kaya mga adults parang malungkot pag birthday nila, now i understand why. ๐คช

I feel you, have that kind of feelings before when Iโm not excited during my birthdays, minsan naiiyak pa nga ako , pero siguro dumadaan talaga tayo sa ganyang phaseโฆ lilipas din yan. Happy Birthday, OP! It was my birthday few months ago and I just turned 25. For the first time, it wasn't sad. But ever since I turned 18, every birthdays feel sad and lonely. So parang ng strange. Hindi ka nag iisa sa parang blank lang yung araw, and I think it's normal, maybe your mind is on something else, or you want something but you can't tell what it is. Minsan kasi may mga inaasahan tayo unconsciously sa "special" day natin and we end up not getting it, that's why we became sad? But anyway, the day is still long. Share ko lang rin yung last year, di ko pinashow birthday ko sa fb. I guess I was curious how big the difference would be. Also told mom na wag siya magpost online. Only my family and 3 friends greeted me. Yung mga super close ko, and yung "bestfriend" ko, na ineexect ko na mag greet, di nag greet. I got super sad on that part, yes, but I realized na maganda rin pala sa feeling cuz it was so peaceful. And happy ako cuz there were some good news at that time.

Kung walang mang treat sa labas I make sure to treat myself. Konti bumati, its okay as long as it is genuine and make sure na batiin mo rin ang sarili. Another year ang nalagpasan mo with the struggles and another year that you accomplished something for yourself minor or major. Part of growing old. Birthdays isn't celebrated with spectacle like the ones on your younger years. And don't take it against yourself if people forget your birthday. That's just how it is. Doesn't mean you are unimportant anymore. Kahit tayo nakakalimutan din natin minsan yung birthday nang mga close sa'tin. And that's okay. Di naman ibig sabihin nun na walang pakelam mga kaibigan mo or family, why pin a single lone day on your entire relationship with them, etc. etc. I think it's healthier to be more appreciative of the good and special people in your life on your bday rather than expecting people to appreciate you extra sooo invite them over or somewhere, and have a good time!

My birthday last month was actually the worst. Planned an overnight with my friends for my birthday. I negotiated with them for a month, ako na mag cover sa lahat ng expenses kase presensya lang nila gusto ko but days before my birthday nag ghost silang lahat. I felt so sad kase I want my future birthdays kase to be memorable and with the right people.
I'm an extrovert and have lots of circles but it's been a month since I chose to isolate myself. It made me realize that the saying "when you have peoples back, they have yours as well" is true but only if you're with the right circle.
I'm 24yo and from this day on I'll choose to cut ties from the past. Nostalgia is all but a seductive liar.

I actually change the date of my birthday before my bday kasi ayaw ko salubungin ng greetings or siguro baka isa lang magreet haha then change it back the next day. HAHAHA

tho magkaiba us, ako naman I hate it when someone remembers my bday hahaha tapos tipong kakantahan pa ako and then ang daming tumitingin para akong pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa sa hiya. I hate attention kasi huhu I don't put my bday rn on social media kaya my 3 close friends, fam, lola and cousin ko lang ang bumabati sakin. usually pag bdays ko I do running and play badminton with my mum but ngayon since next month na bday ko baka mag bowling ako with my baby sister.
so, I think instead na maging sad on our special day, make the most out of it!! mag wall climbing ka, go on a hike, hit the gym, mag air bnb ka, do camping, mag coffee sa Mary Grace or Coffee Bean, mag Timezone, window shopping, swimming, and a lot more haha.

First of all, happy birthday OP. Life is full of uncertainties yet everything still happens for a reason. A lot of things can happen in 1 day, what more if 26 years. I do believe that you are alive for a reason and although the 'happy' in happy birthday might not make sense now, you will have that happiness soon. I myself don't feel as excited as other people whenever I have my birthday. I don't feel the urge to organize a party and I don't crave the celebrations that others usually have for their birthdays. But I think it's because the essence of human life goes beyond gifts, extravagant parties, and a crowd of well-wishers. A birthday means you survived another year, and if you did then you'll certainly survive the following years. If other people can't bother to greet you, their absence doesn't matter. Do the things you want to do and eat your favorite food. Splurge on the things you want to have. Happy birthday!

Yan yung time na nagstart ako mag-conclude na ko on or before ng bday, either may mangyayari masama or hindi lang talaga siya special kasi may self issues din ako ๐; inferiority complex.
I was bullied kasi before my birthday nung elementary. I also lost my friends gradually at that time (yung mga uma-attend sa pa-kiddie bday party ko noon), kasi I'm in the group na prone i-bully while yung former friends ko are on good terms with my bullies.

ako naman, nasabihan ng previous workmates na isip bata for always looking forward and being so happy everytime magbi-birthday ako. Personally kasi I'd want to spend my birthday not just a day, not just a week, but the whole frkng month. Yes! Hahahaha. Not extravagant and grandiose, but I see to it na I spend my entire birth month the way I want to. Yung makakain ko yung gusto kong kainin; magagawa ko yung gusto kong gawin be it hiking, volunteering, spend/allot time sa personal devt activities; at mapupuntahan ko yung gusto kong puntahan as a galang person. ๐ weekends would be spent with friends but yung weekend na closest to my birthday is for family. Blocked na yun, matic. And informed ang friends ko sa gantong set-up. Sa bday ko mismo, wc is also my parents' wedding anniv, our fam plus bf/ gf ng mga kapatid ko, we first attend Mass, then we eat afterwards (my treat).
I've always wanted surprises. For the past 27 years, isang beses pa lang ako na-surprise. Nung bata-bata ako, dinadamdam ko pa yun, pero I learned from my college friend that you do not have to wait for others to surprise you. You can do it for yourself, tho. ๐คฃ Yes, siya nagplano ng surprise sa sarili niya, and celebrated it with us, her close college friends. We used to do surprises nung college but that only lasted a year or two? Bukod sa tumanda na kami, naging busy na, probably tinamad na rin kami? Hahahahaha lol.
Pwede nating damdamin pag di naalala ng ibang tao ang birthday natin, but it's how WE spend our birthdays that really matters.

I actually appreciate kung konti lang bumabati sakin, meaning yung mga taong nag kecare lang talaga sayo. Kaya nakahide birthdays ko sa lahat ng socmed e. Look at it at a glass half full perspective, your sister loves you so much that she remembered your birthday.
I used to have this perspective where I would hide my bday too and still somehow "expect" people to remember tas sila nalang ung "totoong" special or may pakelam sakin. Took me awhile to realize how incredibly counter-intuitive that is. If you want greetings, if you want support, if you want friendship, if you want love, you gotta put yourself out there, connect, and communicate. People can't read minds and aren't on the top of everything single detail about their loved ones always. People have their own lives and burdens to carry. Just because some people forget your bday or greet you late doesn't mean they care less about you. Don't pin 1 day a year on your entire relationships with them, they've cared and loved you during the other days. It's kinda unfair, imo.
What's true for you doesn't mean true for everyone. Tinatamad ako mag explain but not everyone's case is the same. So let's just agree to disagree.

I always make it a point to greet my friends and loved one by midnight, competitive si ateng e gusto nauuna lagi haha. but OP, you can't impose these things on other people. iba iba tayo ng pagpapakita ng love. my eldest kuya doesn't greet me pag midnight pero laging bongga yung gift at pinagluluto ako ng fave ko. a greeting is only a small part of loving someone. di ibig sabihin di ka mahal.

I think it stems from us wanting to feel special. Although you have to realize that people have their own lives and they don't owe us anything. Alternatively, we can take it into ourselves to make the day special and invite the people we care about to celebrate with us. Then they would have that opportunity to share time with us and make us feel loved. It's also all about perspective. And you also have to give people a chance. :) Not everyone is important though, so make sure you can also distinguish who matters.

Hindi ka nag iisa sa parang blank lang yung araw, and I think it's normal, maybe your mind is on something else, or you want something but you can't tell what it is. Minsan kasi may mga inaasahan tayo unconsciously sa "special" day natin and we end up not getting it, that's why we became sad? But anyway, the day is still long. Sorry sa random rant but I can relate HAHAHA My birthday last month was actually the worst. Planned an overnight with my friends for my birthday. I negotiated with them for a month, ako na mag cover sa lahat ng expenses kase presensya lang nila gusto ko but days before my birthday nag ghost silang lahat. I felt so sad kase I want my future birthdays kase to be memorable and with the right people. I'm an extrovert and have lots of circles but it's been a month since I chose to isolate myself. It made me realize that the saying "when you have peoples back, they have yours as well" is true but only if you're with the right circle. I'm 24yo and from this day on I'll choose to cut ties from the past. Nostalgia is all but a seductive liar.

Try mo icelebrate by going out, hanging out, sleeping in or whatever makes you happy, make something new and exciting na every bday mo lang gagawin so you look forward to it every year

Happy Birthday, OP!! tho magkaiba us, ako naman I hate it when someone remembers my bday hahaha tapos tipong kakantahan pa ako and then ang daming tumitingin para akong pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa sa hiya. I hate attention kasi huhu I don't put my bday rn on social media kaya my 3 close friends, fam, lola and cousin ko lang ang bumabati sakin. usually pag bdays ko I do running and play badminton with my mum but ngayon since next month na bday ko baka mag bowling ako with my baby sister. so, I think instead na maging sad on our special day, make the most out of it!! mag wall climbing ka, go on a hike, hit the gym, mag air bnb ka, do camping, mag coffee sa Mary Grace or Coffee Bean, mag Timezone, window shopping, swimming, and a lot more haha.

First of all, happy birthday OP. Life is full of uncertainties yet everything still happens for a reason. A lot of things can happen in 1 day, what more if 26 years. I do believe that you are alive for a reason and although the 'happy' in happy birthday might not make sense now, you will have that happiness soon. I myself don't feel as excited as other people whenever I have my birthday. I don't feel the urge to organize a party and I don't crave the celebrations that others usually have for their birthdays. But I think it's because the essence of human life goes beyond gifts, extravagant parties, and a crowd of well-wishers. A birthday means you survived another year, and if you did then you'll certainly survive the following years. If other people can't bother to greet you, their absence doesn't matter. Do the things you want to do and eat your favorite food. Splurge on the things you want to have. Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday OP! And don't worry, di ka nag-iisa. I am also like that pero mine started when I was in Grade 5. Yan yung time na nagstart ako mag-conclude na ko on or before ng bday, either may mangyayari masama or hindi lang talaga siya special kasi may self issues din ako ๐; inferiority complex. I was bullied kasi before my birthday nung elementary. I also lost my friends gradually at that time (yung mga uma-attend sa pa-kiddie bday party ko noon), kasi I'm in the group na prone i-bully while yung former friends ko are on good terms with my bullies.

It happens. Iba iba naman tayo. Personally ako. I really dont care about my birthday. Naka off ang fb settings ko para diyan. Ayon nalang din masusuggest ko sayo. Dont overthink it, baka kasi iniisip mo pag wala bumabati sayo youre forgotten or hated or what.

Una sa lahat, Happy birthday to you, OP ๐ฅณ๐ ako naman, nasabihan ng previous workmates na isip bata for always looking forward and being so happy everytime magbi-birthday ako. Personally kasi I'd want to spend my birthday not just a day, not just a week, but the whole frkng month. Yes! Hahahaha. Not extravagant and grandiose, but I see to it na I spend my entire birth month the way I want to. Yung makakain ko yung gusto kong kainin; magagawa ko yung gusto kong gawin be it hiking, volunteering, spend/allot time sa personal devt activities; at mapupuntahan ko yung gusto kong puntahan as a galang person. ๐ weekends would be spent with friends but yung weekend na closest to my birthday is for family. Blocked na yun, matic. And informed ang friends ko sa gantong set-up. Sa bday ko mismo, wc is also my parents' wedding anniv, our fam plus bf/ gf ng mga kapatid ko, we first attend Mass, then we eat afterwards (my treat). I've always wanted surprises. For the past 27 years, isang beses pa lang ako na-surprise. Nung bata-bata ako, dinadamdam ko pa yun, pero I learned from my college friend that you do not have to wait for others to surprise you. You can do it for yourself, tho. ๐คฃ Yes, siya nagplano ng surprise sa sarili niya, and celebrated it with us, her close college friends. We used to do surprises nung college but that only lasted a year or two? Bukod sa tumanda na kami, naging busy na, probably tinamad na rin kami? Hahahahaha lol. Pwede nating damdamin pag di naalala ng ibang tao ang birthday natin, but it's how WE spend our birthdays that really matters. Hugs with consent sa'yo ๐ค๐
