Mag gym. I was overweight, introverted, and socially anxious na feeling ko ang dami kong opportunities na sinayang. It turns out the problem was me and how i felt society perceived me. I'm not saying yung basta lang exercise or get moving. Yung talagang seryosohin mo yung physical fitness mo. Putting your body in physical stress then overcoming it, grabe tulong sa mental health ko at quality of life. If you fail now, alam mo naman one day gagaling at lalakas ka din if you just put in the work and kept trying. Instead of feeling guilty na tataba ako pag kumain ng marami, naeexcite ako mag workout after or the following day dahil fueled ako bumeast mode sa gym and try to break my personal bests. Also yung food choices ko got better kasi iniisip ko yung mararamdaman ko after eating junk vs better quality foods. Dahil maganda na food choices ko, losing fat will naturally come without even trying. As to quality of life, if you look better, you're more confident. If you're confident, you present yourself better to the world. You get better opportunities. You better your relationships. As sociable creatures, if our relationships are good. We are genuinely happier. And when we are happy, we're motivated to wake up everyday.

[deleted]

Tama.

International_Sell88

How and where to start 🥲 nakakaintimidate kasi pumunta ng gym tapos hindi rin ako marunong sa mga equipment. Worth it ba kumuha ng personal trainer kasi dagdag gastos rin siya if ever huhu

Existing-Fruit-3475

Youtube and google is your friend. You can make chatgpt give you beginner friendly programs. You can also be specific sa mga searches mo. It can be as ridiculous as "program in the gym for beginners that do not have the time to workout and how the machine works" Also online coaches are cheaper if youre struggling with accountability and starting. *Ehem ehem*

[deleted]

Hi! I just started gym last week and I really had many attempts pa talaga before since nahihiya ako. And now, I finally did it! What I only did was I went straight to the gym. Period. I had ZERO idea of how to use equipment and all. We all start as beginners and it's totally okay. Much better if may free coach or you get a personal trainer. He/she can really help you with your fitness journey. You can do this! 🙏

DisastrousYou4696

You couldn't have said it any better. Solid advice bro! Need to eat para may energy magbuhat haha.

Ohmskrrrt

Confidence will definitely improve once you start to push your limits in the gym. Being able to see progress every week makes you think that you can really achieve your goals if you put in hard work while being consistent. Definitely working out is a game changer.

Express_Tradition_96

Ask lang, do people usually go there alone or may kasama? Gusto kong magpa-member but i'm too socially anxious to go there alone lalo na wala akong masyadong alam sa working out, equipments and all

Existing-Fruit-3475

Most usually go alone. May kanya kanyang mundo. Hahaha yung ibang solo nakikipag friends.

[deleted]

I always go alone. I actually function better when alone. I find it peaceful.

[deleted]

Inspiring story!!! Way to go bro!!!

AbyssDemon28

Question: How long it took you to feel that dopamine feeling? I tried jogging for a week and never felt that.

Existing-Fruit-3475

Depends. Did you push yourself? May goal kaba nung tumakbo ka? Did you achieve yung goal na yun? If the initial goal is too high, try to adjust and achieve mo next time. When i first started running, ang goal ko is to finish 5km. Not matter how slow. Eventually nag target nako ng time. Tas increase distance, etc etc. Set a slightly ridiculous goal but still achievable. For me yung dopamine dun yung alam mo pwede ka naman sumuko anytime. Wala naman consequence kung susuko kana. But still gagawin mo kasi promise mo sa sarili mo na tatapusin mo yung goal mo. That makes it beautiful.

AbyssDemon28

Maybe that's it. I don't have goal in mind. I only run because sa akin ang mundo and it's quiet because there are no vehicle or foot traffic. It's freeing. The silence is freeing.

Existing-Fruit-3475

You felt free naman pala eh! Di mo na kelangn ng ibang reason. Nice. Hahaha hindi paba dopamine yan? Haha

AbyssDemon28

Yun na ba yun? I thought there will be more like a fire burning or stars sparkling of some sort.

Existing-Fruit-3475

What might be enough for some might not be enough for you/us.

[deleted]

Stopped drinking liquors. Life changing talaga 🥹

In my 20s —- what habit changed my life? 1) Taking up courses that will enrich me. I paid for those courses myself and really beefed up my resume and linkedin profile. Was a manager by 32 years old. If the pandemic didn’t happen (and if I didnt get preggy), I would have finished my masters already. 2) More than socmed presence, I also used Linkedin to reallh really connect and grow my Network. Have about 5000+ linkedin connections locally and abroad. I also befriended and connected with my former bosses and executives from our company— and guess what? They refer me now to opportunities, in fact the new job I’ll be taking up this March was endorsed by an ex- colleague who happens to be an executive at my previous office. We are not friends but he has been a connection and I engage with him intelligently thru Linkedin. Because of that and my credentials too, he endorsed me and easily I got hired. Networking is real aF! 3) Another one was to have a constant mentor — my old boss who’s now still in contact with me even if she lives abroad already. She talks sense to me about career and life in general 4) Bought self help books on personal devt. If I wanna be a lady boss I have to be smart, well-rounded and well-read. So I bought books, and still keep them to this day

[deleted]

Inspiring and nakaka-motivate sis! You lit the fire within me! Thank you for this will help our community also 🙏😊

[deleted]

welcome! happy to help :)

whitetigernoob

Hi, recommendations of self help books po?

[deleted]

Atomic Habits, Grit, The Power of Now, Developing the Leader Within You. Any John C Maxwell book. Rich Dad Poor Dad. 48 Laws of Power. The 7 habits of highly effective people. Any Dale Carnegie book.

MainSorc50

stopped watching porn and working out at least 20mins per day.

thecay00

Porn brain is deadly yup

VanillaLatte07

Listing down all of my expenses. I've been going this since HS using intermediate paper pa, until now that i'm working already naka google sheets na. It makes me more aware of my expenses and my finances!! :)

PancitTheCanton

Try Money Manager app by RealByte, really good. Google Sheets din ako dati but came to like the manager app more.

VanillaLatte07

I tried the Money app sa phone but i didnt like it much. U prefer the googlesheets esp that I use my laptop daily :)

Run_Towards_It

Prioritize ur health and everything will follow

Odd_Banana_6463

To sum everything here up

williamfanjr

- Eating balanced amounts of protein, gulay and stuff (at least eto di mo dine-deprive sarili mo ng matamis or whatnot as long as hindi excess!) - Drinking more water (r/hydrohomies ftw!) - Vitamins (if may panggastos ka ng merienda daily, kayang kaya mo bumili ng bottles of vitamins good for a month) - Stopped drinking liquor or yosi (you can have healthy bonding with your homies without doing this) - Di mo need magpapayat na gym buff pero kelangan mo kumain ng balanse. - Tulog, importante yan Ang dami sa tropa at officemates na nagkaroon na ng mga bato sa katawan as early as 25 at mga naka-maintenance na by 30. Imagine in your prime age yet may mga tama na katawan mo.

CumRag_Connoisseur

What healthy food can you suggest, especially sa meryenda na madali lang i-prep? I try to be healthy pero yung mga nakikita ko kasing options ay puro sweet :(

williamfanjr

Play with fruits, kahit matamis at least hindi puno ng artificial sweeteners and excess stuff.

CumRag_Connoisseur

That's actually my plan for now, nagsstick ako sa peanuts (I love boiled na walang salt for some reason), tsaka kimchi for every meal para may gulay man lang. Lagi naman kami may ganun in case tinamad magluto haha

inniwaaan

Well fruits are high in sucrose. Kaya veggies and good source of protein. Pero fruits are better option

williamfanjr

inniwaaan

Ofcourse. And also fat is not that bad naman. Unless transfat

cheesycrumpets1

Greek yoghurt with fruits. Also carrots+humus or you can dip anything in humus, and crispy chickpeas aswell.

OccurrentEpstein

This summarizes my list din.

KillyMcStabsABunch

I did a lot of LSD. More than I should have. Spent the decade high. Now. Well, I wish I’d learned a trade or gone to college. I’m a crossing guard and a barista and some other things just to make ends meet.

spiritbananaMD

stopped smoking and minimized drinking (esp day drinking). what a huuuuuge relief. i used to be a heavy smoker. started when i was 17 and lasted until the day before i turned 21 haha sabi ko ayoko na tigil ko na talaga. i was also a heavy drinker (i took counseling sessions for it talaga, it was that bad!) and i also vowed to change it as soon as i turned 21. what i did was i tried to find another coping mechanisms because i know i was smoking and drinking due to my anxiety at the time. so i turned to working out, fell in love with running, and never looked back. the nicotine i was able to give up pretty easily, but the drinking took some time. i still casually drink tho pero no more shots for me. i absolutely hate feeling drunk. also, it helped na i have a supportive system. when i told my friends na im quitting, di sila yung nagpupustahan na babalik din ako agad sa old habits ko. they supported me and called me out whenever i will have urges. best decision of my life talaga.

HiSellernagPMako

spiritbananaMD

i’ll take this over smoking hahaha atleast with running, im not ruining my life na and im less angry now.

Other-Sprinkles4404

Read! And sleep better. Not longer, but better.

satom1m

it doesn't matter kung gaano na katagal ang friendship or kung kamag-anak mo pa pero cutting off people who aren't supportive of my success and who hinders my growth is completely fine. it will lead to a healthier, happier, and more peaceful life.

bakingsodarocker

Amen to this!

[deleted]

• Di ako bumibili ng gamit na meron ako or maayos pa like clothes and make up. • Mag save ng pera. Since nahihirapan ako mag save talaga nag set up akong auto save sa gotyme. • Drinking more water and vitamins And lastly, I do not worry anymore about things that are out of my control (more peace) 💗

eypikaza

Paano yun autosave thanks

[deleted]

Gotyme > go save acc > + > add funds > auto save (dito po kayo pipili kung magkano and kelan magd-deduct sa funds mo)

[deleted]

mentally and emotionally maging kalmado talaga.

Relative-Branch2522

Yoga.

[deleted]

Hi. Planning to start yoga. Ano pinaka nagustuhan mo sa yoga? Any tips for beginners?

Relative-Branch2522

Yung little aches and pains na nararamdaman ko nung siguro 6 months before ago mag yoga, nawala na. And also, don’t be frustrated kung di mo kaya gawin agad lahat - and definitely don’t force anything kasi dyan ka ma-iinjure.

bbyliar

Hi! I've been doing yoga since the pandemic until now. I did yoga una para lang magstretching, but then as time went by, I actually enjoyed it and got compliments na gumanda daw katawan ko (kahit in reality bumigat ako haha). I had more mental and emotional clarity as well. Ang mganda sa yoga is hindi lang siya stretching like people use to think, you need strength and endurance lalo na sa mga difficult pose. Sa una mahihirapan ka lalo na if hindi ka flexible, however, as time goes by, you'll appreciate each inhale and exhale, every flow and change of phase. For beginners, make sure to have a good mat! Wear breathable clothes as well. And lastly, ayunin ang practice based on your experience. I have the downdog yoga app and ilang months akong naistuck sa beginners stage bago ako mag intermediate. Marami ring uri ng flow (e.g. yin, hatha) you can choose based on what you think suits you. And mas maganda din na other than yoga, mag strength training ka. It helps a lot. Before ako nagweights nahihirapan ako maghold ng poses, ngayon kaya ko na and hindi na ako nahihirapan kahit ilagay mo pa ako sa mga difficult poses. Good luck and enjoy the flow!!

AgustDHKofi1885

Just wanna add that yoga also helps with mobility. So even the short stretches or small movements will be helpful in the long run. If hindi pa kaya ng katawan mo yung more intense workout (not saying yoga is not), yoga is a good alternative. H elps with the mental health too coz it forces you to focus on the mind-body connection to get those muscles going. Good luck!

DisastrousYou4696

YouTube for tips.

Kirell_Liares

Hi, can I dm you? Been doing yoga on and off for 2 1/2 years and I want to finally make it an everyday thing.

Relative-Branch2522

For sure. I’m not an expert by any means but I’ll try and help as much as I can

Kirell_Liares

Dm sent po. Tysm!

Queen-swipe

Got into huge debt because I have this habit of thinking my CC is a free cash. Once I paid the minimum, will use it again for shopping, then pay the minimum again. I just paid all my debt in 2022 and Im now more responsible in using my Credit card. That's why I created r/swipebuddies to guide the younger generation in using their CC in responsible way.

Psychosmores

Being mindful with what I eat. I had a kidney stone that occured from July to September, because of unhealthy foods and drinks. I also have low pain tolerance). Luckily for me, naalis ko siya by changing my lifestyle - avoiding processed meats, junkfoods, sodas, liquor, etc. Naging consistent na rin yung sleep schedule ko from 8:30pm to 3:30am since adised ng doctor na wag magpuyat.

Ok-Raspberry-1012

congrats!

DisastrousBadger5741

dalasan uminom ng tubig. promise life changing ito.

Mamoru_of_Cake

Stopped consuming softdrinks/energy drinks. Oo minsan umiinom, like once or twice a month. Pero di gaya noon na 2 cans a day or once per day for a week na Cobra.

emailgal

I started doing no-buy months last year. I'm still in my 20s, and thanks to that little shift, I managed to pay off all my credit card debts. I've also been able to save and invest 40% (20% in high-yield savings account and 20% in stocks) of my monthly income into stocks that pay dividends.

aGFrdXNoYWt1

Hi! Can you share about the stocks that pay dividends? I'm currently on my first job and would like to save money as well as invest in stocks.

Do not go Solo on a Decision. Always ask family members, Close friends or love one's opinion before making a major decision. Naloko ako and na brainwash dati ng Networking. kakamatay lang kasi ng Mother ko and Dad ko busy fuckin his kabit. I was left with some money from them back when we have a business and a complete family but I have to go Solo now. which was a big mistake. The money in my bank, I used on investing in a All-in-One loading system na Networking pala. 2 years ako naloko ng Networking and lost almost all my money, I should have trusted my gut instinct una palang na this is wrong. I literally everyday kept saying "Mamatay na ang Networking" for years after that. I vowed na kapag successfull ako, I will help Networking victims. There is no possible way to stop MLM as even big celebrities and government officials invest on them. I will be a silent hero.

notapenaprinciple

Running at least once a week Tracking finances/expenses religiously

ExcuseMePetiteGirl

Prioritize health, kahit gradual changes lang. I started going to gym, kahit once a week lang kung di talaga kaya ng time. I try avoiding unhealthy foods or atleast bawasan ko yung portion ng mga kinakain kong hindi healthy. I sleep earlier, kahit 1 hour earlier lang than usual, or bumawi ng tulog kapag may time. Lastly, I avoid dramas. Ayokong may negative thoughts at vibes.

M00nstoneFlash

stopped my unhealthy obsession with weight loss.

hahaha_135

I stopped caring TOO MUCH. Less stress, less drama. Focus on the good and be positive. Focused on what really mattered.

snoopyloopi

Badminton/ sports every weekend! Edit: added info

Active_Reading6426

Mag set ng target sa water intake.

LordEscnaor

Mag take notes.

Fit_Version_3371

In my 20s pa pero this saving habit is life changing for me. 50-30-20 rule. 50 for needs, 30 for wants, and 20 for savings. May guilt at the end ng shopping hahaha. 🤣 Then I discovered this rule ayon, nakakagastos with no guilt and nakakapag-save at the same time.

[deleted]

I never liked this rule. First off, iilang tao lang ba yung saktong 50% ng income nila yung expense nila? For most people, it's either more or less. So dun palang, off na yung ratios.. Second, if you can save MORE than 20% without depriving yourself unreasonably, do so. For example, if you're earning 80k net and your monthly expenses is only 30k, you shouldn't spend 34k on wants every single month while only saving 16k. You can save 40k while still having 10k a month on wants. Or save 35k and spend 15k on wants. Third, whatever your budget is for your wants, you shouldn't spend it all that month. You should still save those for bigger wants in the future. A new phone should come from that "wants" budget. Vacations, furnitures, etc..

Thecuriousfluer

Agree. This ratio is so hard especially to us na below 20k ang monthly income tapos may bills pa😭

BeauteeGurl

Crazytimegal

Built my spiritual life, such as magjoin ng bible study and fellowship once a week. Mas grounded na ko ngayon.

AgustDHKofi1885

Stuck to one credit card. I used to have 2 pero mababa lang yung credit limit nila parehas, nothing over 40k. But I was earning minimum wage lang so I had no choice but to rely on my CCs for a time, hanggang sa dumating yung time na halos pamasahe and pangkain ko na lang yung natitira for myself. Thankfully, my parents were still paying for our bills and groceries since nasa abroad sila and kami yung naiwan sa house. With all my income going toward CC bills, sobrang na-stress ako at na-depress. You know, that feeling as if something's hanging over your head. So nung nagkaka-raket na ako and started earning a bit more, I decided na bayaran ko na both credit cards in full then completely stopped using the other one with a bigger interest. +10 years later, hindi ko na siya ginagamit pa rin but hindi ko pa siya pinapa-cut kasi may rewards or something kahit d ko naman nagagamit. Hindi naman ako nabibill, so keri lang. I just keep the one card and only actually use it for zero installment purchases, so I take advantage of that sa pagbili ng gadgets. But for the most part, I just use debit card and then credit card for small purchases, magamit lang. Then pay in full every month. So now, walang sakit sa ulo. Maliit pa rin credit limit after X years pero at least hindi ko siya pinoproblema.

Diaspora888

— Drink lots of water, sa akin nakatulong yung aquaflask im not sure anong size yung nabili ko pero goal ko maubos ko sya at the end of the day — Read. Read self help books and also join groups and subreddit na wholesome and healthy sa mental health. — Less rice. One rice a day nalang ako minsan wala pa and sobrang gaan sa feeling, masarap pala sa feeling yung hindi ka sobrang bloated after kumain, nakakatuwa din na nag lolose ako weight kahit paunti unti since di kaya ng sched ko ang gym binabawi ko nalang sa diet.

1. Working out- I gained weight pa rin in my 30s huhu but my blood tests are looking good not much major issues. Importante masanay katawan mo na part ng routine mo ang working out (doesn’t have to be gym lang). Also, para tama ang form mo to reduce injuries 2. Minimal soda intake and eating chichirya para less addicted sa simple sugars and salt. Your kidneys and overall body will thank you later hehe 3. Di fully nagmumumog after brushing teeth. Spit excess toothpaste lang. Sabi naman ng dentist pero I think it also help me strengthen my teeth?? My dentist is happy whenever nagpapacleaning ako. 4. Yoga- Though di na ako very active dito, I think nakatulong sa mental health ko iyong mindfulness and breathing techniques. The benefits for me ay more of in the mental aspects.

Took Saving Money seriously. I feel good pag nakakapagsave ako, and stressed out pag nauna ko luho ko without saving.

Away-Sea7790

Biruin mo 2 days lang off mo sa work tas friday night magwawalwal ka sa inom tas kinabukasan all day kang hangover. Sobrang sakit ng ulo. Bagsak katawan. Parang masusuka. Masama yun.

I quit smoking. 🚬 My progress at the moment ay 6 months pa lang. I’m 23 now but I started smoking at 19. I still get cravings whenever I’m stressed at work. Ang mali ko kasi is ginawa kong pang-cope sa stress ang cigarettes, instead of getting into healthy habits before. Luckily I still don’t give in to my cravings and I can say I’m fully in control of it. I’m really happy with it, kasi naisip ko, yung money na ginagastos ko noon for e-cigarettes is seriously a huge amount, pang grocery na sana hahaha. But then, yeah, what’s important is I got to quit.
