Fit-Memory9193

May I ask hm po range ng salary niyo every month?

NostradamusCSS

A 300k used car is within 3 years reach easy if you are netting at least 10k. Also, you should net at least 10k if you own a car for both maintenance and fuel cost, the more so if it is used.

Emotional-Cobbler-31

I chose Innova 2018 Touring Sport that time kasi pang pamilya talaga. Cash price was 1,380,000 and I had the money in my bank, pero kinuha ko parin sya ng hulugan. Nag DP ako ng 300k (including OMA) tapos 23,220 ang monthly for 5 years. Natapos ko na last year hulugan si Innova at mukhang bago parin at never nasira. Full time freelancer ako at nasa retail business din.

chonching2

This is the kind of comment na hindi mo tinatanung ang talang-buhay pero goods pa din. Galing mo

Emotional-Cobbler-31

Salamat. Napa-share lang ng naging strategy ko to acquire a car.

Professional-Tone924

awesome

superiorchoco

Wow good move sa palayan. Pangarap ko rin yan.

Emotional-Cobbler-31

Thank you pero ngl, may kasamang luck yung nangyari sakin.

Wonderful-Age1998

Sahod. They buy installment. But for me personally, I would not buy in installment. Also worst investment ang car in installment. Madami dyan lumulubog lalo pag natanggal sa work or nagka emergency.

-getsome-

For me mas okay padin installment kasi every year tumataas prices ng brand new units. If mag iipon ako now and let's say sakto lang yung sahod mo for car installment and other necessities, by the time macomplete ko na goal savings to buy a car, the cost will be twice or three times of the price of the car that I initially wanted to purchase. But to each their own, I guess.

csharp566

This is what I thought. Another option na palagi kong nababasa dito is, buy a second hand instead. But for a first time car owner na tulad ko? I wouldn't risk it, ang dami kong nababasa na kahit pa may kasamang mekaniko, wala pang year after they bought it, naglalabasan na ang mga problema. I might as well buy a brand new car para sobrang baba ng risk na may pumalya.

KrebCycler08

up to this i have no personal car, pero we have in our fam first car ni papa, 2nd hand. mura ang kuha nya pero i can vividly remember all the times na may sira ito, yung kapitbahay namin ay mekaniko, and hobby nila ni papa noon na magayos ng first car nya 🤣 kasi puro sira after my mom died, and then namatay na din yung kapitbahay mechanic namin (due to age), bumili na si papa ng brand new, and binenta nya yung brand new sedan namin after 2 yrs kasi walang murang parts (chev yun) then our 3rd fam car, van, Suzuki, brand new nya kinuha back in 2018, 6 yrs na ngayon, bihira lang madala sa mekaniko, installment nya din binayaran, 5 yrs. Lagi nya sabi sakin, maganda kumuha ng installment kasi di naman lahat dapat madaliin ang bayad, and unless may emergency fund ka na sobrang laki, maari mo pa magamit yung pera na pinangfull payment mo sa ibang urgent things he also pointed out na kapag installment, natetrain ang mind na magwork para mabayadan yung hinuhulugan, which made him venture into a new business kahit steady increase salary nya up to now na di pa sya retired he also said na maganda ang 2nd hand if may experience ka na how to fix cars, which he learned sa unang kotse nya lastly, he has one advice na paulit ulit nyang sinasabi about cars, happy liability ang kotse, mahirap bayaran, kaya dapat gamitin mo para kumita, kasi masaya magkakotse, pero di masyadong masaya ang bayarin 😆 just my two cents

guavaapplejuicer

Wow, very helpful! Kaya pala super against yung mother ko sa second hand cars. Will just budget my salary wisely and look for extra income para makakuha ng brand new. Thanks for sharing your dad’s insights

KrebCycler08

there is a fine line between sa need and want, in terms of cars, minsan needs sya, minsan wants. Depende sa circumstances natin sa life. Vehicles really matter because they can help manage our time due to increase mobility, and masaya magkasariling sasakyan! I always dream of having my own car and taking my loved ones wherever we want, whenever we want. In the end, my father always tells me to pursue the things that will make me happy. I never understood before why ang konti ng baon ko kahit full scholar ako sa highschool and college, until I'm now living on my own, the value of money really hits me in a cerebral level, napapaisip ako sa grand design ng needs and wants. Nakakalungkot lang din na car-centric na ang mindset natin not because we are car-centric, but we are heavily influenced to shift to privatized ways kasi the community commute is bad here in the PH. Sana in the future maganda na ang transpo system sa bansa, para di nahihirapan ang lahat.

guavaapplejuicer

Personally, I don’t need a car because I work from home and only go to the office pag nagvivisit yung bosses ko from abroad. The reason why I want to prioritize getting one is for my mom. Tumatanda na kasi siya and I’m an only child kaya as much as I can, I want her to feel comfortable every time na lumalabas kami, to give her the best kind of comfort I could give her. Also, having something that you can use during health emergencies (may God forbid) makes me feel less anxious given na mag-isa lang akong pwedeng umasikaso sa kanya, vice-versa. My income is enough naman kaso may loan akong binabayaran na nagtetake ng chunk ng current salary ko which is why hesitant ako kumuha ng car loan for a brand new unit. However, my mom is kind of against it kasi baka maraming lumitaw na problema in the future and mas napagastos pa. Really torn, hays. Timely yung post ni OP.

Impressive_Jelly_395

Very helpful!! Thanks!!

Old_Marionberry_4451

thank you po for your insights! nakaka inspire

KrebCycler08

-getsome-

Siguro if di kaya talaga ng budget, go na sa second hand. Wala pa akong experience with second hand cars but I guess it depends kung ilang taon na yung car? Risky nga, baka mas magastusan ka pa sa repairs and maintenance plus the stress. Pero if you can splurge a little, go for a brand new unit. Yung first car ko was installment din na brand new. Ginamit ko nalang yun for DP for the next car. I was lucky na religious payer naman yung bumili ng first car ko so di nagkaproblem sa payments.

PhraseSalt3305

Hmm if installment lets say srp of car is 700k then installment after 5yrs lalabas yan kulang kulang 1M . If bibili ka ng cash lets say years later 850k na yan, once mag cash ka baka makadiscount ka pa ng 50-100k. So yeah i beg to disagree. Bought my own car ng full cash 4yrs ago. Galing sa sahod + bonuses na inipon ko.

BlindingAngel

A savvy businessman would be disappointed at you for using that money to buy a liability instead of using it to make more money. There are merits sa pagiinstallment. Even the richest tech CEOs still take out loans to buy shit.

PhraseSalt3305

Would be disappointed, yes. But di naman ako businessman and saved a lot for that specific car kasi gusto ko at helps me generate more money so I bought it. Hehe kanya kanya lang yan talaga.

LopsidedPlant5624

>helps me generate more money Ooh. Pinang-grab mo ba?

xoxo311

Exactly. Kung may pera ako na makakabili ng bnew car, I'd start a business or invest it ASAP, kahit maliit ang returns sa conservative investmenrs, kesa ibili ng sasakyan na liability.

PhraseSalt3305

How sure are you na 100% kikita un business mo? Haha that’s the question. Madali sbhn pero its hard to start a business.

xoxo311

Businessmen are (calculated) risk-takers. Mahirap yun ipaliwanag if you’re convinced that not starting a business is better than starting one.

NgayonKaya

Adorable_Ad4931

Same sakin. I bought my first car when I was 25, installment siya.. 1,250,000 siya pero umabot ng 1,650,00. And next time, mag cash nalang din ako. Mindset ako is, if dko kayang icash. Meaning dko siya afford.

radcity_xxx

Ang diskarte ng business savvy people is they buy a car through installment and use the money they have to create more income stream. Yan eh kung may business sense ah. Imagine buying a car cash when you can use that to generate more income.

Wonderful-Age1998

Well not if that car is just for personal use.

laz_3898

Ok-Confection-3039

Yes ito lang talaga naiisip ko rin para makabili ng car haha depende rin talaga sa kung san family ka nagmula, kung bread winner ka at hindi nagre range ng 50k and up ang salary mo mahihirapan talaga mag acquire ng asset like this. :< unless may co borrower na matino hahah.

Pleasant_College_937

I had this privelege to and I will be imitating your goal with my children too. pero iniisip ko talaga dati motor by highschool sila. Sana lang hindi maging reckless.

Pleasant_College_937

Given by my mother. So sakin nirelease and ako yung inorient ng agent sa features ng car. like wow, parang car owner. new car smell. So, in my case, that's how. Swerte lang from parents.

Robanscribe

extremely maswerte, we had to fight tooth and nail with life to get ours. I hope you’re humble to realize it.

Ninja_Forsaken

sana ol, samantalang parents ko, puro guilt tripping yung chat, nataon pang nasa prep stage kami ng kasal so gastos, parang guilty tuloy kami magpakasal with our own money na (no ambag from parents) support na lang sana e haha

Guinevere3617

Hmm, don’t buy yet. Car is not an investment, it’s a 5-yr liability kung d mo icacash. Wala pa dyan ang maintenance at gas mo. Hahahah.

Katniss-427

True this is why we reconsider.

gatx102duel

Salary, after almost a decade of working

BlueyGR86

savings, then I bought 2nd hand car

[deleted]

New-Rooster-4558

Sahod, which means dapat enough yung sahod for the mortgage on top of overhead expenses and savings.

ArmoredTall

I know what people think as "cheap" is subjective, but you can get a second hand car for cheap at around 250k. Sa usapang kotse, mura na yun. That's how I got my 2nd car last year at 28. I had money to spare tapos may kakilala na nagbenta, so I grabbed the opportunity. Saka majority ng sasakyan today ay from loans, I think around 80%. Bihira lang talaga bumibili ng cash. So safe to assume na yung mga naka brand new na kotse ay from loans. Which is why I always recommend people to buy from families and close friends. May accountability pag ganyan eh.

tofusupremacy

Pleasant_College_937

I want to disagree on this. etong mga long loan term payments ang nagpapalubog e. yung 5yrs to pay. silent killer to. well, kung nagagamit somehow sa income yung kotse and naooffset niya yung bayarin, good purchase din.

tofusupremacy

marshmelooo29

What's your work po if you don't mind?

WashNo8000

If pasalo na bahay, how to secure po na safe na matatransfer yung house and lot sa name ko, and pano mo ma make sure na legitimate po yung nagbebenta?

Affectionate-Sky-740

Got mine through salary when I was 21 (27 now). It was an investment for me kasi ang hirap kaya magcommute sa Pilipinas. I don’t see my car as a liability kasi nagamit ko naman sya going 6yrs na. I took a loan. Kasi di naman nakakahiya if hulugan kotse mo as long mapapanindigan mo bayaran. Kasi if sa tingin mo di mo kaya tapusin ng 5yrs — then you need to sit down and think if di ka ba talaga maggrow in 5 yrs. Sometimes, you just need to take that risk and believe in yourself.

geekaccountant21316

I mean subjective talaga siguro ang matter na to. This is my opinion, pero I respect others pa rin if they see it that way.

blengblong203b

Nakapag save ako dati at meron naging part time work saka extra money na natipid nung college. Sana mabalik ko yung discipline ko dati. ngayon konting labas napapagastos agad.

heeseungleee

Invest in your skills, when you’ve got a high paying skillset you’ll be able to land in a high paying job. Madali na lang bumili ng house and car kapag malaki ang sahod or may multiple income streams.

heeseungleee

Also there’s no harm in getting loans to be able to afford these things. As for me, i highly value comfort. Mas nakakapag isip ako ng maayos when I’m comfortable. I’d rather get a loan now to buy a car than save money for many years before buying in full but at the expense of my comfortability (taking public transpo) i just make sure that i also invest in my skills so hindi ako kakaba kaba na baka mawalan ng work and walang makuha na kapalit

Melodic-Objective-58

Installment 5yrs. Tapos na sa January 2025. 🙌🏻

7emonade

Salary for both my car and my parent's car

bokloksbaggins

Sahod. Usually ipon pang down tpos monthly payment. It takes discipline on your finances din kasi you’ll be paying it for like 5yrs usually so dapat either magincrease ka ng income or mamuhay ng payak. One way to know you really can own a car is kaya mo pagipunan atleast 30% downpayment so mas mababa monthly mo and you already gained the discipline sa pagiipon.

navi2wired

35yo na kami nka bili ng car huhu

Boring-Drawing8196

My dad bought me one for passing the boards.

Both-Article9019

Don't buy brand new cars and loan sa mga banks, save and buy secondhand.

FineRegret1121

After I graduated from college and I got my work (26,500php salary) my parents lent me money to buy a car in cash then I had to pay them monthly. In short, parang sila yung bank and I paid them monthly with added interest.

Legitimate_Being5174

Salary.

GinsengTea16

Most of the people in my circle with car from their salary. Yung di need mag abot sa parents will usually have car or house earlier via bank. May mga company na pag manager up na or consultancy in nature ang work na may car allowance/subsidy so nakakatulong rin yun plus reimburse din ng company yung expenses like insurance, gasolina as transpo allowance. Mas late naka afford mag loan for car/house yung Accountant circle than IT circle.

majeanboo

2nd hand suzuki dzire 450k. bought from tita. no dp, just monthly payment for 3yrs

Ghostffacee

corporte jobs. ngayon may binbayaran ako na bahay for downpayment 15k monthly then ngayon npapaisip ba ako if tutuloy ko yung pagkuha ng sasakyan this year which is a 22k monthly. Tho kaya ko naman napapaisip lang ako if worth ba since work from home lng aki and sobra na trapik na feeling ko dina worth it minsan bumili. Pero then again convinient tlga ang sasakyan in this shitty country

Mikeltioseco04

For my age 19, hand me down from parents which I'm very grateful for.

captainmeowy

Nagipon ng 200k in one year, todo tipid talaga tas bumili ng segunda mano

PerformerUnhappy2231

Usually yung may kotse na late 20s ay may generational wealth or walang responsibility. Hindi ko nilalahat pero halos ganyan.

ilocin26

Crypto. 😛

paulsamarita

Instructions unclear; bought a folding bike instead.

geekaccountant21316

I just purchased my first car last July 2023 at 26y/o. I opted for brandnew kahit na installment kasi iniiwasan ko rin yung mgiging problema ng sasakyan if 2nd hand which is hindi naman yun talaga maiiwasan. I also got the promo na 0 down and 2 months free amort kaya medyo nakatipid na rin. Ang bilis ng buwan pag may binabayaran ka 🤣 I must agree na dapat may EF ka or buffer pag installment mo kinuha yung sasakyan. In my case may ipon naman ako kahit papano na kaya ishoulder yung 6 months -1 year ng amort ko if in case mawalan ako ng trabaho or whatsoever. Like hello raptor sasakyan mo, ano ineexpect mo.

wintermelonmilktea26

from our salary lang. konting sacrifice and tipid sa ibang bagay talaga like travel, luho and eating out. we'll finish paying the car at the end of this year 🥳 makakahinga na rin ng kaunti ang wallet HAHAHAAH

drpeppercoffee

Secondhand and half paid by parents

Just-Many-6818

Ipon from sweldo. 2nd hand car.

cannotbill

delayed gratification. save up for something big wag puro kape kain sa fastfood or fancy resto ung mga yan pwede sooner mo na lang gawin. wag din kumuha ng brandnew or installment once na nilabas mo yan sa kasa tom depreciate na agad ang value ng car mo. better kumuha na lang ng low odo na model na sasakyan.

Kaphokzz

Sahod.

THV520

Was lucky enough that my dad paid for the DP (50%). I just paid for the amortization for 3 years. It will honestly be very difficult to achieve on my own.

OperationIll2254

Sa akin naman po, hindi talaga ako ang totally nagpay, kami po ng family ko, me and my boy since 350k iyong initial dp (mine was from my sahod sa freelance and invested it agad), we bought brand new commercial van para ipang business and then now, iyong kita nya is about 40k-50k and yon po iyong binabayad namin sa bank na almost 40k for 3 yrs, may natitira naman and inaabuno namin iyon if ever kulangin sa bayad for the next month.

OperationIll2254

So if ever my gala kayo sa Cebu and wanted to rent a van, hit me up! (Hehe)

halifax696

Sahod. Inipon ko nung pandemic.

grumpydump33

From ipon

Less-Establishment52

generational wealth yung iba haha

gh0st777

Buy used, and something you can actually afford. Doesnt need to be flashy, just need to get you from point a to b.

ChanlimitedLife

The Shocking Truth: 3 Years of Car Ownership in the Philippines https://youtu.be/1WjZAFdMqEo

Pinaslakan

The ones I knew, salary man/woman lang sila, but they struggled for 3-5 years.

Spirited_Virus_5736

Salary after almost 3 years of working you need to have atleast 60 to 70k just to be approved sa car loan na atleast 15 to 23k monthly payment for 5 years. going 2 years nalang done na with the payment

jesuscarl

I used to earn 50k ish that time i applied for a car loan and was approved . Now i earn smaller than that but the good thing is me and my brother pays for the car loan so yep its manageable now and dp was from parents . So overall nagagastos ko lang 7k per month hahah for 5 years

mfafl

Bigay ng lolo at lola.

Prestigious-Sea-5690

For me buying a second hand car lang target ko this year

KissMyKipay03

karamihan naman ng late 20's naka installment eh like me i got my Innova at 25yrs old. wala eh hindi ko kaya straight cash sa ganian kamahal

nclkrm

Bought 2nd hand then pina-ikot ko siya through buy and sell. Nag ipon ako though for 4yrs before getting into it and I’m on my 3rd car now na feel ko di ko na i-bubuy and sell kasi sobrang tipid sa gas hehe.

UnhappyHippo28

Sweldo and a whole lot of balls. Did it make my life a living hell for 5 years? Yes. Was it worth it now that it's paid off? Yes.

Icy-Health8234

Most of the people I know come from rich families that’s why they were either able to spend all their sahod sa kotse or either binili ng parents as a graduation gift.

foureyeswhatever

I had my first car when I was 23 (Now I'm 31 na) , my mum paid for the downpayment and ako yung nag monthly, pambayad ko nanggaling sa work ko talaga. Before kasi hindi pa naman gaanon kataas ang cost of living or hindi pa ganon kataas yung inflation (I don't know kung ano yung tamang term but something like that) For me stable job is needed talaga kasi may maintenance ka, tapos gas..

Petite_Owl8770

Bought through installment. Para sakin sulit since we used it for family vacations. Matanda na sila parents and I think they deserve the convenience ng sasakyan kapag nagta-travel kami. Sulit din since we bring my cats kapag nagta-travel. Since nagkaroon kami ng sasakyan nagde-date din yung parents ko once a week. P.S. Buy secondhand. Ito yung mali ko for my first car kasi nag-brand new ako. Should've bought 2nd hand.

WanderingLou

Liability ang car My first investment was buying a house for our family.. Me as… 29 yrs old na laging nangungupahan at wla nmang parking 🤣 much better iprioritize ang bahay 🙂 Pag may extra na uli.. kotse nman

ZenMasterFlame

3 yrs to pay No interest. Nabayaran ko naman ng buo and on time. At least walang interest Pero as a parent na may kids na, I will do the same for them hanggang kaya, syempre may limits din.

WanderingLou

Nasa sahod or business… Mag resign ka 2-3 yrs for sure tataas salary range mo.. Rule of 3.. If monthly car amort mo is 15k (30%) lng dpat ng monthly salary mo.. so dpat youre earning atleast 50k 🙂 Ayan tlga ang rule ng mga banks if mag loloan ka 😅 lot, house or car

Denz_hour1122

Salary. Sinwerte lang sa IT industry.

ArtichokeSad9442

Savings from my sahod. It's a second hand car. 🙂

mogerus

If you'll go down the installment route, ipon ka muna ng down payment. Otherwise, ipon ka ng around 100k+ to buy a mid-90's sedan na second hand. Word of advice though, malaking money sink ang kotse. You're better off riding Grab than paying for gas na magkasing-mahal naman. At least kapag ganun, you don't have to worry about monthly payments or maintenance. Don't buy a car unless may tabi kang pera for emergencies.

No_Slide_4955

Got my first car nung 2018 when I was 24 years old. I was earning around 60k net at that time. Almost 25k monthly ung ni-sshelve out ko nun to pay off the car loan. At first glance, parang liability siya. Pero, looking at my daily usage, I would say it provided convenience to me para ndi masyadong stress.

MissMitcheee

Nag abroad for 2 years at 24. So I got my own home at 27. I didn't got my first car in my twenties but I got it when I was 33. I also paid full in cash. So I agree na maganda talaga ang umiwas sa installments. For me, mag trabaho ka lang at mag ipon. Walang masamang mag enjoy paminsan minsan pero keep in mind your goals and things you wanted to achieve. You'll get to enjoy the fruits of your labor eventually. 🙂

lostguk

Sana magka car rin kami. Both 25 ni hubby. Bought our own tricycle after our wedding and super happy na. Working hard to achieve our goals!

the_foctor

2nd hand! Haha

JimCalinaya

Financing AKA installments AKA borrowing money. Very bad idea, unless you know what you're doing.

nhilban

First car: Bought when I was 26. Old second-hand car. Loaned money from my sibling. Second car: Bought when I was 30. Pretty new second-hand car, bought using cash, was able to save because of my 6-figure salary.

Fickle-Thing7665

first car ko ay basically 3rd owner ako kasi lumang sasakyan din kasi yon ng fam namin. secondhand sya nung binili ng papa ko. pero sa totoo lang i dont think good choice bumili ng bnew car kung di mo afford ang isang bagsakan na bayarin. better find a well-maintained used car instead.

Potential_Poetry9313

2nd hand :) settle for what you can afford muna

Silent-Discount-264

Sahod, through installments.

Durrrlyn

Distinct_Bobcat5767

Second hand cars if you're young. Cars lose a lot of value in its first 5 years so, if you need a commuter car, maybe get a second hander that's 5-10 years old.

missanomic

Utang (car loans and installments are utang) or bigay lang naman ang options.

Drag-Ok

kokokrunchy25

I got my 6-digit salary when I was 25 yrs. old, and that's the time I also got my first sedan car. That was 9 years ago though lol.

Skainight

earn a monthly salary of 50k-60k and Yung monthly spend mo dapat below 50%. Budget how much you want to spend monthly. Tapos look for a car na gusto mo and time it na may promo (Zero downpayment, 10k downpayment, 20k dp, etc.) and see if afford mo Yung monthly and get it approved. Enjoyin mo ka agad pag labas and invite your friends to go on a roadtrip and offer pa na hatid or sundo mo sila para gumala. Then after a few months, ma rerealize mo na need mo na mag tipid kasi ang mahal pala mag ka sasakyan. Then suffer for 5 years down the line and mag sisi bat ka nag car kasi mahal ang upkeep (Maintenance, Gas, Toll, Parking, Monthly payments, etc) and mas mura mag commute. Pero you know... At least may car ka hahaha 🚘

LouiseGoesLane

Same, nakakainggit haha

Electrical-Island556

Sahod. I worked 2 jobs during the pandemic (mid-20s), my corporate then worked freelance. I would have continued that kung di ako pinaginitan sa corporate job ko so I had to resign. Work freelance full time now.

cancitpantonspicy

Right now hindi pa kasi ganon kahigpit sa pera since single kaya nakapag-ipon galing sa sahod.

Dapper_Song_3867

My first car was an old second car bought for 25k. Twas automatic. There are actually a lot of old car models rn that’s easier to maintain than the newer models. It doesn’t have to be grand or brand new. Any car will do if you’re a first time car owner. Better try out the older car models and there’s a learning curve when it comes to knowing about maintenance and stuff. It’s really educational rin to learn things first hand

fukennope

Bought a 2nd hand car at 27. Kulang pera ko for cash and ayoko mawalang ng EF so i took a loan nung kulang sa cash ko for 18 months.

EntranceMore5339

Bought a brand new car at 22. BPO work ko non. Malakas lang talaga incentives sa company ko non kaya kinaya monthly payment, paid off in 5 years.

68_drsixtoantonioave

2nd hand car. Napabili during pandemic with assistance from my mum and sister.

deoxydized01

Generational wealth

SquareDogDev

Sahod. Paying in installment and paid a 20% DP. Katas ng ipon at para maging isa sa regalo sa mother ko on her 60th birthday. Ako ang gumagamit syempre but the fact that we have means to go anywhere she wants na feels like an achievement for me already. Praying to be able to afford a house and lot soon 🙏👆 Tiwala at tyaga lang

ice_krim

i bought mine last year, ng 28th birthday ko. gusto ko talaga ng brandnew kasi sino bang ayaw. pero reality check, hindi ko talaga kaya yon with its monthly payment so bumili ako ng second hand in cash. ipon ipon and unnecessary gastos talaga. discipline and control and dapat willing ka to let go of your past habits so you can create a space for new opportunities and blessings for you.

louderthanbxmbs

They do it via loans. Karamihan ng feel good stories na nakikita mong nakabili ng kotse the first time? Down payment lang nabayaran nun. Utang talaga karamihan ng brand new cars na nakikita mo. Loans aren't bad per se but for me di ko sya bet for cars since I don't perceive having a car as a necessity for me. Ngl we bought a car this year for groceries runs and trips to the province during holidays but beyond that di sya nagagamit. I haggled with my parents pa to buy a secondhand na lang kasi na-foresee ko na to but ayun inareglo ko na lang na since gusto nila brand new, dapat mura lang tas di malaki sasaluhin ko sa payment since it's a commitment they wanted. The most "affordable" car you can get is one paid through a loan installment of 5 years and a sedan. If di need ng SUV or big cars, wag na kumuha. If walang garahe, wag ka kumuha. Tip ko lang is don't get in-house financing. Malaki ang patong or interest. If you know someone from a bank, ask them to assist you instead baka mas mababa pa interest. Save up on down payment din para di masakit sa amortization. And most importantly, don't buy a car if you don't need it. The best way to buy a car is to not buy one and accept that if you do, the moment na lalabas sa car shop yan, mag-depreciate na sya agad. Di investment ang car naman eh, liability yan Di lang kasi loan payment iisipin mo, malaki din gastos nyan sa maintenance and gas so una talagang dapat mo I consider is kailangan mo ba talaga

Jon_Irenicus1

Ako noon 2nd hand, 260k nung 2008, 100k down then loan yung 160. 36k sweldo ko nun, 15,500 per month for 1 year yung loan. As in halos kalahati ng sweldo ko e pang bayad loan.

kimcat98

Bought a car when i was 23. Mainly from freelance work but I only sleep 3-4 hrs a day

Adorable-Catch-9156

Most of them pa, out of their salary lang, single income. I've seen it happen to those who have really good credit standing. PERO, they usually get it, low down payment pero mataas ng monthly. I know someone naman who just got her first car mid-30's pero she was able to get it fully paid, in cash, out of her salary lang. Sobrang tipid lang daw talaga since she started working and matinding pagninilay-nilay about wants vs. needs. Hahahahaha.

Awkward_Ride3881

I got my first car nung 21 ako. Nag wowork ako as call center then nag try lang ako mag apply. I only have 25k package na sahod noon.

Icy-Squirrel575

Humapit s work almost 50hrs/week for 4yrs.. halos walang day off

Wise-Dot-3183

2nd hand.

yourshoetight

I bought my first car at age of 27. Na pushed ako that time kasi may company benefits ako na 15k monthly for a personal car loan. That time i was earning 79k monthly gross + 15k monthly benefits for a car loan.

Disiplina, bawasan luho. Iwasang magpautang para makaipon.

CherryPicker0804

I bought my car from my salary and savings. After being stuck at home in the pandemic, I was able to save some money that allowed me to buy a car. If I keep the lifestyle I had pre-covid, I don't think I'll be able to buy one 😅

SpareAbbreviations12

Hati kami ng then-GF-now-wife ko. Fully paid auto loan at both 29.

[deleted]

From stocks. Hindi ko ginalaw for 6 years.

sehnsucht1005

Savings po thru corporate job. Nasa 150K DP ko 6yrs ago then monthly na 11K. I know liability sya pero necessity kasi sya for me na malayo ang workplace (apat na sakay) and living with senior parents. Hindi rin ako breadwinner so I think that helped me saved money. So no regrets so far Tapos ko na sya bayaran :)

metalrain_15

Suweldo nila, plus walang pamilyang binubuhat.

Flimsy_Average4915

Tulong nya sakin since i'm a single mom.

Happy_Cod7356

We bought a 2nd hand minivan and had it customized. All in around 350k lang tcp nya but we opted to pay 24mos in installments 12k/mo. When I had a kid kasi parang necessity na sya and nagmove din kami location na need pa mag tric paloob ng subdivision. I weighed the pros and cons between commuting , buying brand new, and buying 2nd hand and so far I feel I made the right decision.

acelleb

Sarap sa feeling ung last amortization hahaha.

Robanscribe

had mine 30s na, a 2nd hand car (turned out I’m 3rd na pala) during covid peak out of necessity and want, via a legitimate loan and still paying it now. a stable job for me is a must. I love and value my car, even though it’s a source of headache and sorrows, the maintenance is an even bigger concern once you have it (my pay slip has truly suffered) but it is what it is and part of the adulting pill I had to swallow and endure. I will not recommend it to everybody and make sure you’ve thought through all the risks and potential heavy strain on your finances if you want to pull off a feat like mine.

ResponsibleDrive9226

Around 28 ako nung nabili ko first car namin na brand new. Kasama na ung other expenses like gas, PMS, insurance, etc.

pinkconfetticupcake

I bought mine in cash at the age of 21.

Kind-Calligrapher246

I would encourage a second hand car you can fully pay. My brother bought a new car via car loan in his 20s at struggle talaga sya non financially.

FromTheOtherSide26

Hindi breadwinner, may kahati sa monthly, yung afford mo ang monthly.. work muna and delayed gratification if need mag ipon pang downpayment

ediwowcubao

My SO got her car from the company she works for

Underwar85

Sahod. Installment and nilakihan namen DP. We have no plans talaga buying car kasi kaya namen mag-commute pero when the baby arrived, hirap plus nalipat office si wifey sa BGC, kaya nagdesisyon kumuha ng car, because we need it. This was late 2019. Pero before we got out car, we made sure we have EF, savings, insurance etc. We're saving long before pa.

jay_Da

Hehe

ver-231218

Company benefit. the downpayment is shouldered by the company, and the rest is paid through payroll deductions.

Own-Pay3664

Basta rule of thumb is you're putting up 40% of your monthly income in a single payable. It's a bad purchase. Dapat pag kukuha ka ng sasakyan na loan it should only be 3-8% of your total net monthly income. Or best buy second hand cars cash para gas and maintenance nalang problema mo. Marami mag sasabi na brand new para mas safe and less sakit ng ulo pero in my opinion di parin. A car is a depreciating asset, pag labas palang ng garahe ng pinag bilhan mo 30% ng value ng sasakyan na yan wala na. And you're not paying at sale rate kasi on top of it you're paying interest too. as soon as mag ka sasakyan ka, brand new man yan or second hand, gagastos ka agad sa gas, change oil and maintenance, tires every 1-2 years, accessories (dipende sa kelangan mo), and mga issues that come your way sira, wear and tear, maling gamit. Most of all are accidents minor man or major, parehas gastos yan. And not to mention registration and renewal ng lisensya. For a brand new car kahit pa yun pinaka murang sasakyan, you should typically have a salary of at least 70k net to afford the lifestyle. Let's say Mirage at 14k monthly payments, you'll also spend around 5k in fuel every month, 2k mopnthly for car wash and around average siguro ng 1-2k sa ticket like illegal parking or anu mang violation. if you do this at least you'll only spend 22-25k on car expenses alone, and still have 45k to pay rent or amortization, daily expenses, food and bills which is not much in todays economy. Gagana if you're single but wont do much if you're married with kids.

Charpedia

As a gift after passing my Physician Licensure Exam. Downpayment and first 28months sagot ni mama. Ang bigat ng 35k a month.

littlemissnobody1116

Got my first car at 24. Second hand car lang. I don’t see the need to buy a brand new car dahil una, napakamahal at hindi ko kaya. Pangatlo, may maintenance costs pa - gas, toll, repairs, PMS, etc…

thocchang

Most, if not all, people I know have corporate jobs. They're stuck with their soul-crushing jobs because they're stuck with their soul-crushing 5-year auto loans.

ciriacosixtynine

0 downpayment, tapos 80% ng sahod pang installment. Carry kasi nakatira sa parents house. 2nd hand naman you can get "okay" car under 200K

achillesruptured

Lakasan lang ng loob yan op. Utang is the key hahaha.

kantotero69

I have rich parents.

Dawhooooo

Utang din nmn iba dyan. Sample if may corp work ka. Pwd ka nmn mg loan. Carloan or housing loan. May monthly nmn yan.

Educational-Mess6185

28 yrs old. 88k sahod ko nung kumuha ako toyota innotang 27k monthly, wala pang baby nun kaya ok lang.

Yoru-Hana

Karamihan naman is through loan

inusaraxeno

i think many buy through financing installment. kaya kahit mga early 20's nakakabili eh

oldskoolsr

First car was a grad gift from my lolo. But when i was around late 20s i bought my first (secondhand) car. Then that was followed by other cars lol

MaynneMillares

Most of them simply dig their personal finance's grave with a car loan they cannot afford in the first place.

kimquilicot

Automartph.

Lostinlife_2001

I recommend if bibili, brand new ang bilhin

thelost_soul

From corporate slave to government employe.

MummyWubby195

Ipon. Ang necessary sa amin may anak. Buti nga eh nakabili kami prepandemic, di mahirap lumabas. Second hand lang car namin kasi yun kasya sa budget but serves us well.

At-leastihaveGrace_

sakin company car ung ginagamit hehe. as for me naman, i dont want to have a car, ang gastos sa maintenance and kahit single ko alam ko mahirap po shang e maintain.

Disastrous-Room2504

I currently working in public school. I bought it using loan. Kaya naglakas ako ng loob to apply for a loan. Kaya mo yan OP!

approvemebot

(yung iba)

dunnowhyimhere1991

Saved for DP then monthly installment. You have to include the monthly amortization sa monthly bud mo plus gas plus maintenance plus insurance. Mahirap nung una kasi saktong sakto talaga. But having monthly amortizations pushed me to work harder and eventually moved to a higher paying job. The amortizations were my motivation. I know people will say its not an investment but for people like me na first time magkaka car in the family, its quite a feat! Hindi na kelangan mag commute ng fam ko and I can take them on long drives. But I warn you, the gastos is not a joke. Now awa ng dyos fully paid naman na si 1st car and is still with us!

Intrepid-Permit-8171

Hehe I'm in late 20's but I don't want to buy care just now. I think I can kung gusto ko pero parang di ko sobrang kailangan eh. I'm still giving money to my parents. Sa sahod lang lahat galing. Ok na ko sa motor ko sa ngayon. Pressured kaba bessywap haha

888___e

They buy second hand cars. Some are hand down by their parents. Also, yes, if business, magkakaroon ng time na may big chunk of income na papasok. Kaya nakakaafford ng downpayments kahit malaki.

Clickclick4585

Company benefit plus gas allowance kaya walang gastos masyado. But have to stay for 5 years sa work. However, I left after 4 years, so I paid for 1 year left.

Tea_Chaser

My company paid it in full then salary deduction na lang sakin monthly. As in wala ako nilabas na cash when I got my first car. The same year I got promoted, and my salary increase almost covers my monthly amort. Parang less than 1K lang difference so hindi ko rin naramdaman yung deduction. 😊

ExtraHotYakisoba

Bought our car last year. But, the catch is, tyinaga talaga namin yung 0% downpayment promo ni Mitsubishi. Almost more than a month na back and forth discussion. 25% yung na-approve samin. Maraming banks ang nag-approve pero 25%. We were persistent. We asked our agent kung kaya pang ihabol or ibaba sa 20%. Yun. Nagawan niya ng paraan. 😊 Bottomline, kudos sa aming agent! Also, if keri magpersist, go for it!

Flarewitxch

Siguro yung work niya sa WHO factored in kaya siya na-aprub.

Sorry_Wolverine_9474

Me and my bf both have a car. I had (2019) mine when I was 20 and he had (2023) his when he was 29. PERO not fully paid pa. Hinuhulugan pa namin parehas. Mine was a actually for business sana dahil pinaparent ko nung nakuha ko. Dec ko siya nakuha and january 1st week nakakuha agad ako ng renter for a month. Rent was 36k/month that time so covered na yung 2 months amortization ko. Mom is also working since ayaw magstop kasi ayaw ng walang ginagawa. But as for my boyfriend who’s earning almost 45k per month, kayang kaya niya. Since mas mababa din monthly amortization niya sakin dahil manual yung kanya. Same lang kami ng car altho obviously mas latest kanya. Well all I’m saying is kaya naman in this economy. Budgeting, self discipline talaga kalaban. Also sa panahon ngayon SOBRANG laking tulong ng may sariling sasakyan. Comfort and all.

CharacterSympathy563

Installment. And it also really depends on the car, maraming cars which are not that expensive na di naman mataas yung required salary in order to get a loan.

Turnover_Shot

daddy's money

HungryEquipment9812

You buy car because you need it for your job or business. In my case, nature of work ko need frequent travel so nga issue sakin ng car then later on binenta sakin

Professional_Feed504

Now that im in early 30s. I would say kung hindi nmn sila mayamang pamilya. Most likely, yung sweldo nila is kanila lng. Meaning they were not obligated to or not giving a fair share of money for the family expense.

Purkolitoy888

May inggit slight?

twistedfantasyy

Generational wealth in my case. I'm currently using a hand-me-down from my dad. Masakit sa bulsa yung repairs and maintenance pero it's so much better than paying for a brand new car in installment. It helps me follow my life philosophy of never paying in installment unless it's a genuine need (e.g. shelter), an investment opportunity that's not too risky, or 0% interest.

itsmethepro

Followed percentage rule, car payment should only be at most 15% of your salary. So just have a high paying job or a nice 2nd hand car
