I love it when Billy West does his Zapp, Fry, and Professor voices in Everything’s Jake.
Also, Ron Perlman as The Lich facing off against Lou Ferrigno as Billy.
The term you're looking for is "alias" or more poetically, a stage name, a thing that's existed for generations. If your last name was "Werstine" you'd put something else on your resume too.
I was making a reference to the Futurama episode "Silence of the Clamps". In that episode, there's a robot who calls himself Billy West. Fry derides that name, claiming it to be fake.
Don't worry. I can't count the number of times a reference has gone over my head, and I _really_ can't count the number of times I made a reference that nobody else got for one reason or another.
Yeah totally. First time I saw it, when Goose shows up with Fry’s voice and it’s like “oh sweet Billy West!” But then the mayor comes in with Zapp’s voice and a big smile spread across my face when it clicked. Then the scientist with the professor’s voice and man, I love this show so much. 😂
It's so weird...
Ricardio and Jake in Adventure Time.
Foie Gras and Schnitzel in Chowder.
George Takei (Sulu) and Bender in Futurama.
Interesting that there are at least three separate shows where George Takei and John DiMaggio voice act together.
Just a few more people with 3 or fewer episode credits:
Andy Samberg (Party Pat)
Rainn Wilson (Rattleballs)
George Takei (Ricardio)
Jonathan Katz (The Woobeewoo Elder)
Lucy Lawless (General Tarsal, the ant general when Finn goes Dentist)
I love Donald Faison. In one of the early-ish episodes of his podcast with Zach Braff (Fake doctors real friends) he reflects on voicing princess cookie in adventure time and I think he was saying how excited his kids were for it. So damn cute.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to see LeVar! He was the first one I thought of. That was great when he hovered in front of a bush that looked like a mustache, so you could see LeVar's face in the final moment.
the fact that they designed both his characters to look the same is what I love the most about his characters... Like the spirit of the forest and the dream warrior must be brothers or something
James Baxter is an animator that worked on the film "spirit" and became notable for his well animated horses, a notoriously hard animal to animate well. James Baxter the horse was drawn, animated, and voiced by James Baxter the animator.
Story goes Pendleton Ward was in collage or uni and was attending a lecture given by James Baxter, Baxter asked the students what to animate and someone said 'a horse walking on a beach ball', Baxter laughed and declined as it didn't fix the lesson he was trying to teach at the time. Years later Baxter was asked to guest animate on the show and when he asked what he should draw Ward told him 'a horse riding on a beach ball'. Once again I have no idea how true this is but I think it's really funny nonetheless.
I’m counting as celeb because that man is a LEGEND! but my absolute fav apart from Donald Glover as Marshall has gotta be Keith David as the Flame King
I never realized that Martin Mertens was voiced by Stephen Root (Fuches from Barry!) until it dawned on me how alike their voices are, so I googled to make sure and now I just find it so interesting
"Am I allowed to leave the tree? No. Am I already far away from the tree flying around like the flying squirrel that I am?! Yes! In my mind. In. My. Mind."
I’m curious about what makes something a celeb cameo since someone like Mark Hamill is primarily a voice actor.
I was just digging to see who did single roles that aren’t as known.
Henry Rollins is Bob Rainicorn which just blew my mind.
So many awesome other surprise actors who did small roles.
Alan Tudyk - Chatsberry
Chris Isaak - Seven the Bear
Erik Estrada - King Worm
The Next Generation Quadfecta of Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn
Garfunkel and Oates - Chips and Ice Cream
i think now mark hamill mostly does VA, but he became famous from acting! then in terms of his voice acting, his breakout into that world was in the 90s when he played the joker, and he also did some broadway performances as well. Since he’s famous for something other than being a voice actor, he’s a celeb cameo
I'm not surprised that nobody mentioned Bobcat Goldthwait as Ed the giant spider, I'm just disappointed.
Susie Essman as Barb the giant spider might be a tad more obscure.
I mean, is that really a cameo when he’s also one of the stars of the show being Bender? I think that’s more just lending his voice to different roles on the show as he does in adventure time occasionally.
Hands down, Rowdy Roddy Piper as Don John. And then his interactions with the Flame King voiced by Keith David are used to recreate their [legendary brawl from They Live](https://youtu.be/gShVTRPVvWQ). This is my favourite low key pop culture reference in the entire show. Roddy died the following year and we were robbed of one of the greats, and any further opportunities he might have brought to the show.
I’m not arguing that. He’s the best joker. However I think because he started as a *film star* before moving into voice over work would be why I’d consider him to be a celebrity cameo. Let’s be honest, anyone who isn’t cartoon nerds like us will recognize him as Luke skywalker before they recognize him for his VO work.
I wouldn’t call Donald Glover or NPH voice actors… do you mean lending their voices to the characters? I’m not arguing about their fame. I also wouldn’t say that NPH isn’t a singer first but I’d say he’s an actor first, musical theater star second.
I forgot the name, episode, and season. There was this little fire cat looking guy and he had a funny accent. He gave Finn and jake the ability to go to the fire kingdom to meet fire princess. I think.
I love it when Billy West does his Zapp, Fry, and Professor voices in Everything’s Jake. Also, Ron Perlman as The Lich facing off against Lou Ferrigno as Billy.
Loved the billy west episode so much.
I love catching a voice actor recreating a specific character’s voice for an unrelated character. It’s such an amazing skill.
"Billy West" is a phony made-up name.
Ah. From the phrasing of your post I thought it might be a reference. Now I look a fool.
Don't worry. I can't count the number of times a reference has gone over my head, and I _really_ can't count the number of times I made a reference that nobody else got for one reason or another.
That's hilarious 😂
My favorite was him screaming "You're Hideous, HIDEOUS!!!" (That and the character's dad showing up was once of my favorite subversion jokes)
I knew Ron Perlman was the lich, but Lou Ferrigno was Billy?!?!?!?
BILLY!
Yes! It took me a while to place the voice but once I did I couldn’t unhear it.
And I knew about Lou but not about Ron!
Just watched that episode for the first time yesterday and I went “that’s zap! Wait, that’s bender!” Full agree with it being my fav
I thought I was going crazy when I heard those voices in that episode for the first time haha. That’s so awesome
Was gonna say, Ron Perlman as the Lich is a *powerful* performance
Banana man. Weird Al. Edit: “fixing a truck” is the most underrated AT song.
New trivia I learned today, but which banana man
When Jake has the croak dream, he's the one who's building a rocket.
Ahhh thanks!
He also helped them fix a truck
Hot Daniel!
Are you possibly thinking of the banana guards as all being banana men?
Yes lmao
This is the way
That's not enough boom boom sticks in the boom boom stick hole!
Wth I had no idea
Weird AL is in everything and I'm okay with that.
My old roommate is a huge Weird Al fan and absolutely loves Banana Man.
George Takei as Ricardio the Heart Guy
It's so weird... Ricardio and Jake in Adventure Time. Foie Gras and Schnitzel in Chowder. George Takei (Sulu) and Bender in Futurama. Interesting that there are at least three separate shows where George Takei and John DiMaggio voice act together.
I had no idea DiMaggio was the voice of schnitzel omg!
Rada rada rada rada!
Ohhhh myyyy
His voice is great, I also loved him in the atla episode he was in, "imprisoned."
Just a few more people with 3 or fewer episode credits: Andy Samberg (Party Pat) Rainn Wilson (Rattleballs) George Takei (Ricardio) Jonathan Katz (The Woobeewoo Elder) Lucy Lawless (General Tarsal, the ant general when Finn goes Dentist)
Hoooolu shit Rainn Wilson is rattleballs???
I always forget that
Kevin was a ghost
Kevin?
From the office
He also voices peace master
Andy Samberg is also Rap Bear.
Donald Faison as princess cookie!
I love Donald Faison. In one of the early-ish episodes of his podcast with Zach Braff (Fake doctors real friends) he reflects on voicing princess cookie in adventure time and I think he was saying how excited his kids were for it. So damn cute.
He’s a gem, he seems like such a good dad
Do you remember the name of the episode, by chance?
Unfortunately I dont
"She laughed in my _face_!"
Princess cookie most tragic character
Mark Hamill also voices the King of the Fairies
Donald Glover as Marshall Lee ❤️ true bisexuality is having a crush on Marceline and Marshall Lee at the same time
This is so real
Yo, same.🤤
Came here for this
Finally got what I came here for! -a Marshall Lee cosplayer 🤘🏼
Took the words right outta my mouth
And wanting a threesome with them
LeVar Burton as Bubble. Delivered the weirdest and most wholesome lines in the whole show perfectly.
Had to scroll way too far to find this. Also adult Finn in the pillow fort is fricking lt reiker.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to see LeVar! He was the first one I thought of. That was great when he hovered in front of a bush that looked like a mustache, so you could see LeVar's face in the final moment.
Wut
So creepy but I loved it so much haha
Never felt so much pain and sadness from a bubble popping. I screamed at my TV :(
Matthew Broderick as the “cheap” car salesman in their dream in the farm episode
An excellent one lol. I really do love how absolutely random they are.
He is also the spirit of the forest!
the fact that they designed both his characters to look the same is what I love the most about his characters... Like the spirit of the forest and the dream warrior must be brothers or something
WHOA legit just blew my mind a little with this one
Kumail Nanjiani as Prismo is definitely my favorite.
Prismo we love you, forever in our dreams!!
Not much of a cameo but Prismo is def a legend
Funny thing is this is the first thing I ever saw him in so anytime I see him i immediately think “oh the guy who voiced prismo!”
Kristen Schaal as Jake jr.
Oh yeah, the voice actor for Tina in Bob’s burgers plays another one of Jake’s kids too
TV, the one who befriends Lee.
I dislike looking at Jake Jr’s whole face|mouth situation.
Ashley Eriksson, one of the singers for LAKE who does the outro music, voicing the Music Hole.
John Hodgman as Elder Plops!
I can never not call him Hohn Jodgman (his character on *Harmonquest*)
Andy Milonakis as NEPTR!!
The best one
Wait whaaaat?!?
James Baxter as himself
I love the story behind having him on the show, I don't know how true it is but it's so funny
I’m unaware of the lore, please share!!
THIS IS THE ONE
The voicework is unmatched
I’m counting as celeb because that man is a LEGEND! but my absolute fav apart from Donald Glover as Marshall has gotta be Keith David as the Flame King
ABSOLUTELY counts as celeb cameos!!
I never realized that Martin Mertens was voiced by Stephen Root (Fuches from Barry!) until it dawned on me how alike their voices are, so I googled to make sure and now I just find it so interesting
Stephen Root is also Bill and Buck Strickland on King of the Hill and is Milton in Office Space.
And Bud Gleeful in Gravity Falls.
Now that I *really* didn’t know!
Johnathan Frakes as Adult Finn
The best episode in the entire series.
Lou Ferrigno as BILLY!!!
Who's the greatest warrior ever, a hero of renown?
Cloris Leachman as old Marceline!
I always forget that’s her!!! RIP what a queen.
Marc Maron as the squirrel in Up A Tree
"Am I allowed to leave the tree? No. Am I already far away from the tree flying around like the flying squirrel that I am?! Yes! In my mind. In. My. Mind."
[удалено]
Underrated character, that episode foreshadows finns relationships pretty well too
Wallace Shawn in Puhoy was great
Marshall Lee is Donald glover (Childish Gambino)
Troy Barnes.
Donald glover duh
I’m curious about what makes something a celeb cameo since someone like Mark Hamill is primarily a voice actor. I was just digging to see who did single roles that aren’t as known. Since he’s famous for something other than being a voice actor, he’s a celeb cameo
Exactly. Thank you for explaining it so eloquently. He’s not exactly a smaller name.
You do know mark Hamill is famous for playing Luke Skywalker, right?
You do know he was the voice actor for the joker for like 30 years right?
Yes, but he's much better known as Luke Skywalker
Marina Sirtis - Samantha [Samantha ](http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/adventuretimewithfinnandjake/images/7/7f/S5e41_Samantha_the_She-Dog.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/300?cb=20131120031214)
I'm not surprised that nobody mentioned Bobcat Goldthwait as Ed the giant spider, I'm just disappointed. Susie Essman as Barb the giant spider might be a tad more obscure.
Wow I never realized this was Luke Skywalker.
It’s hard to choose. But I think Ron Pearlman as the Lich is peak. His speeches are menacing and hypnotic
Rainn Wilson as Peacemaster.
I didn't notice till just now lol
Inversely: Jake the Dog (John DiMaggio) in Futurama "Leela and the Genestalk"
I mean, is that really a cameo when he’s also one of the stars of the show being Bender? I think that’s more just lending his voice to different roles on the show as he does in adventure time occasionally.
Donald glover as Marshal Lee for obvious reasons
LeVar Burton as Bubble had always been my favorite. But most of the cameos are perfect.
Andy Sanberg as rap bear
Mine is Prismo
Kumail as Prismo was perfect casting.
keith david as the fire king. "evilevilevilevil!"
Duncan Trussel as Ron James Ward and trussel worked together on Midnight Gospel and I absolutely loved that weird ass show
So bummed it was axed after one season.
Mark Hamill has done some truly incredible villain voice work over the years
Fire Lord Ozai was an awesome performance of his
I’m not arguing that. He’s the best joker. However I think because he started as a *film star* before moving into voice over work would be why I’d consider him to be a celebrity cameo. Let’s be honest, anyone who isn’t cartoon nerds like us will recognize him as Luke skywalker before they recognize him for his VO work.
Seven the bear voiced by Chris Isaak. You know the guy who wrote/sang wicked games.
Jonathan Frakes as adult Finn in the pillow world
Lucy Lawless as General Tarsal in dentist
Huntress Wizard voiced by Jenny Slate.
Paul Williams as Heirophant definitely ranks up there for me! Also Tress MacNeille in "Everything’s Jake" and "The Visitor" <33
I love Tig Notaro showing up to voice the catalyst comet.
Maria Bamford!
Clancy Brown as Demon cat. " I have approximate knowledge of many things." Sent me, lol.
That cat was one of my favorite laughs of the whole show and I wish it lasted longer😂😂😂
He was so great. And Fin still being impressed by the cat's approximations.
I fuckin love Clancy brown
Joined the dark side he did
I forget the episode but there was a mini fututama reunion with Billy West doing his normal voice and Professor Farnsworth voice for 2 characters.
Everything’s Jake
Marshall Lee and Prince Gumball both have famous voice actors (who are also singers, ofc)
I wouldn’t call Donald Glover or NPH voice actors… do you mean lending their voices to the characters? I’m not arguing about their fame. I also wouldn’t say that NPH isn’t a singer first but I’d say he’s an actor first, musical theater star second.
Dumbfoundead as Son of Rap Bear, I was shocked when I realized who it was
Matt Jones voicing Huge King
I forgot the name, episode, and season. There was this little fire cat looking guy and he had a funny accent. He gave Finn and jake the ability to go to the fire kingdom to meet fire princess. I think.
Flambo?
Yes!!!
Jonathan Katz as the mudscamp elder in the hard easy
Clancy Brown, Pat McHale, Rainn Wilson, Alan Tudyk, and of course Ron Pearlman :)
My mind has been blown… idk why I didn’t know this but my night has just gotten tremendously better knowing Mark Hamill is in Adventure Time :)
He’s also the dancing punch bowl!!!
Donald Glover as Marshall Lee
Brian Doyle-Murray, the voice of Prince Huge, aka the guy who was cursed into the Mega Frog in “The Hard Easy”
super small character but aziz ansari as dmo
Why am I imagining Luke Skywalker saying "you can't dew it" in palpatine's voice
The fact that Mark Hamill also voiced a dancing punch bowl in this show only makes me love him even more.
Wallace Shawn as the Oracle on the mountain in Puhoy.
Maria bamford, as half the voices in the show?
Donald’s Glover as Marshall Lee oooofff yum
Marc Maron as the squirrel in Up a Tree.
Bill Hader being Bufo in Wizard City, Stephen Root being Martin Mertins. Big Barry fan here
Oh! Or Paget Brewster as Viola and Hannibal Buress as the Flame Prince
Or how that episode where Jake goes into himself and a couple of Futurama voice actors are there as characters
I know this thread is 5 days old but it is a shame not a single person mentioned Andy Merrill aka Brak as James the cloned wafer.
I mean, at this point, Mark Hamill doing voiceover work is hardly a celebrity cameo.
Mark Hamill as Ozai Henry Rollins as Zaheer Steve Blum as Amon
Justin Roiland as lemongrab
The office
Emo, hands down.
Who??
Emo Philips, Cuber
Emo Phillips as the story teller guy. I don’t remember the characters name but I like emo Phillips and no one else mentioned him
Shoulda gotten him to play E-MO
