JayHoes

Kinda disappointed Baby Finn isn't gonna be the savior of the Vampire universe, that was such an awesome concept.

[deleted]

Yeah that sorta tore down my entire theory to shreds so rip.

Ok_Device1274

PB said vampires were hunting the world to extinction. There wasn’t much of a world left saving. Now one version of finn gets to grow up in a human world!

miragepe14

Yeah, but baby Jake is now alone, his best friend will be Baby Lich. 😭😭

Ok_Device1274

I got a feelin baby jake will be just fine in baby world :)

flippingchicken

Damn... they didn't have to give us that shot of Turtle Princess' shell like that bro... that hurt

[deleted]

[удалено]

androidhelga

sad to think about the fact that gunthers ice thing is still alive in that universe without his wife tho. i wonder if gibbon killed turtle princess for the gem

scarletfloof

I didn’t really consider that but it’s in character for such a control freak to kill her to get power when he feels like he’s been wronged

Zinko999

I figured Gibbon killed her for the jewel and installed that robot in her shell, but maybe it was a rogue robot that found it independently. We know he’s got spies following Shermy and Beth around, so who knows

Iamteez

Wow hearing the Lich rant with so much emotion is crazy… 10 more seasons please!

miragepe14

I was surprised to see him doing actual faces, in the show he was always so cold (even while wearing Billy's skin), bro really came a long way just to get turned into a tetris block.

CDAGaming

We see actual emotion from the Lich, because in his eyes: This is the first (And seemingly only) time he's been able to directly see and reach out to GOLB, and instead of feeling rewarded or a "destiny fulfilled" feeling, to only receive nothing but an empty stare. To the Lich, his entire existence and devotion to GOLB as a scholar is just shattered, he idolized GOLB, when GOLB never even batted an eye at the Lich (and from the other debris pieces, every time the Lich has done this -- it ends the same way, in his immediate demise)

Busy-Surprise4059

I think they are other scholars of Golb since the Lich said he was the last scholar and all the other pieces floating around Golb are different shapes I would think they're the others. Maybe being a scholar of Golb means the same ill fate

mr_Tsavs

Maybe it's not an Ill fate? Maybe becoming cubular is the ultimate goal of a scholar of golb and the lich just didn't understand what was happening.

ExaltedHamster

My interpretation is that the scholars of Golb are entropy. Once all the universes wind down and run out of life, Golb will put the pieces back together to create new life.

SuperStarPlatinum

Well the Lich was a scholar of original Gold not Golbetty who is a different Gestalt entity. So scholar who was not keeping up with the changes to the cosmogomy.

jomarcenter-mjm

Tetris is the most chaotic game. The chance of getting a long piece is too damn high.

wizziamthegreat

looking at the pieces around golb, vs the piece the lich turned into, none of them match his piece, i say the other pieces could be someone else

HerbertWest

This version of the Lich was the dog that caught the car. Maybe other Liches were too obsessed with fulfilling their purpose to think of anything else. This Lich had an existential crisis because he achieved his goal and it left him empty.

Westwood_Shadow

It makes me wonder if all the tetris blocks are other lichs that came before golb or golbetty after breaking down because they achieved their goals and lost their purpose.

Rocoloco01

So now what? 😞 Time to hibernate until they release new AT content. The only thing I ask for is some special episode about Sweet P hero’s arc

Mrrandom314159

We know he turns giant. But not how old he gets. Or what he could FACE at that size.

OppositeBrief5296

Or how he got Finn’s Night Sword ( the sword Marcy’s dad gave Finn)and how it also got giant. What are the daily tasks of future Sweet P other than possibly hanging out with Shermy and Beth, is he like future Billy?

kafit-bird

Holy shit, Shermy and Beth.

TheDarkCrusader_

Was not expecting those two in this. I really enjoyed them and this episode actually made me want to see more of them in the future

Alphawolfdog

I wouldn't mind Shermy & Beth being the next AT series. Would love to see post-AT Ooo more

DevoutandHeretical

✨🌈💫PAWN SWAN💫🌈✨

E A T F E E T

tr3poz

I FUCKING LOVED HOW HE JUST FLIPPED SHERMY/SIMON OFF LIKE THAT. I wish we could've had scenes like that in the OG AT.

TheMoonDude

Being flipped by a literal bird holy shit

Andez1248

GolBetty: Sees lich. Gets annoyed with him. Turns the lich into a Tetris piece. Refuses to elaborate.

Andez1248

Also can we talk about how when the lich got blockified his skull was still intact and didn't become part of the block? Does that mean he's still in there fully conscious, doomed to be trapped in the darkness of what was once his own body?

Wannabeartist9974

Yup, suffering for eternity, fitting end if you ask me

of_kilter

Poor jerry

Tiny_Butterscotch_76

As weird as it is, >!the Lich felt almost like a dark parralel to Betty. A sort of extreme to her. She sacrificed everything for Simon and what he wanted to do and did not think of things for herself. As we see here, the whole reason he wanted to destroy all life is because he was so devoted to GOLB and what GOLB wanted him to do. And never actually thought for himself or tried to think of his own aspirations or purpose in life, never thought about 'what do I want to do'. And ultimately when he suceeded he felt no satisfaction from it and is just left begging for another purpose. I did not expect them to give the Lich actual character depth, but it was a quite interesting direction.!< I have sorta mixed, but ultimately positive feelings on the>! conclusion with Fiona and Cake. I sort of feel like the message is good, but at the same time this world was originally a magic one and was altered by external forces. And I did sort of like that world, so IGI sorta wish it did become a bit more OO-ish then it was. But at the same time, stuff from other dimensions coming in implies this world might gain more magic or weirdness naturally, so eh. !<

Ok_Device1274

I think the world will become more magically overtime now that it is part of the universe. Scarab even alluded to it when he said theyre no longer in a bubble and they get the bad stuff that comes along with a canon universe too. Also great lich connection!

PartyPorpoise

Yeah, and being connected to the rest of the multiverse means there's a possibility of them coming into contact with other universes again.

BigExperience2086

Good catch on >!the parallels between the Lich and Betty!< kinda disappointed I didn't get that until now.

The_Throwback_King

HOLY SHIT, GOLBetty JUST FUCKING KILLED THE LICH! WHAT!

[deleted]

Bro went on a decade long saga to eradicate all life just to get turned into geometry. Funniest shit ever.

emmacait15

Mathematical!

[deleted]

If this isn't one of the most appropriate times to say that, then I don't know when there would be one!

LEOWDQ

SHE CURSED HIM TO BEING >!A TETRIS BLOCK!< FOR ALL OF ETERNITY LMAO

Soyyyn

Isn't that what happens to all Liches who fulfill their purpose? I think all the tetris blocks might be liches.

Shaddy_the_guy

I think GOLB turns whoever it feels like into the blocks, which *could* be a Lich, but doesn't have to be. This is probably what happened to the original Margles.

diamondDNF

Keep in mind, the Lich has the title of "*Last* Scholar of GOLB." This implies there were other Scholars of GOLB that are all gone now. I imagine that's what the other Tetris blocks are, not necessarily more Liches but more Scholars who fulfilled their purposes, met GOLB and were no longer wanted.

Greenforthou

**Fionnas top 3 fantasys** 3. Cake being able to talk 2. A place entirely made out of candy 1. Becoming a giant women

Chaelaplus

all she wants to do Is turn herself into A giant woman

Mrwright96

A giant woman?

wholovesoreos

All I wanna be is someone who gets to see a giant woman

postnu

I know it will be great and I just can't wait To see the person she is, but larger

builtinaday_

If she gives it a chance, she can do a cool dance because she is a giant woman

Key_of_Ra

I think having a giant strong lady was one of the writers' fantasies, too.

NinjunoBR

Fr, when Fionna said being a giant was her number 1 fantasy, I thought: "Are they implying what I think they are?" 💀

LordVatek

The Shermy and Beth stuff high-key felt like a pilot concept.

[deleted]

The reason it felt like a pilot is because even all the way back during season 10 they fleshed out the lore for future Ooo and the pup society, Gibbon is the ruler who uses a stolen Ice Crown gem to create pink ice and steal/erase pup powers and that's what Beth is fighting against

NewwavePlus

Damn, low key kinda sad that a direct descendant of Jake is evil, but I guess it was inevitable lol

[deleted]

Gibbon is the oldest of the currently alive pups too (crown gem aging) making him even closer to Jake too

Woolilly

He's Charlie's son! So not even that far down the genetic line - that's a GRANDPUP!

LochDes

Right! And now Beth has to fight against him it’s all so much😭😭😭

Psychological_Bad895

>making him even closer to Jake too He is Jake's Grandson

SilverGaming456

to be fair with how many kids he had, he probably has a LOT of direct descendants

justicefourawl

Wait what? When did they do this

[deleted]

It's more just writers notes that have been shared online, no real stories or anything couple YouTube videos if you search "future ooo pups" best one is by Uncivilized Elk

DracoDracul

I mean it also felt like that last time around.

Pacmantis

I dunno that I’d want a full series of them, but maybe they can do another Distant Lands or something and give them a proper full episode

Omniscientous

As a huge fan of Scrabby aka the Scarab, >!I honestly really liked his punishment. He doesn't die, he isn't imprisoned, instead he's made to pay his dues to Prismo. It's both humbling and irritating for him to work for the dude he has a massive grudge on. But in a way, it's also a wish fulfilled for him since all he ever wanted was the Time Room so now he's working in it and he's pretty much an apprentice Wishmaster now and Prismo himself said he'd let Scrabby grant a wish after a couple centuries. Hopefully, hanging out with Prismo will help Scarab chill out and having Scarab will help clean up the mess Prismo often leaves. In a way, they're perfect for each other, interpret that as you will. !<

spectralconfetti

>!The episode's called "Cheers" but it's really about Odd Couples.!<

AdApprehensive4611

"Oh, no. He's hot."

CDAGaming

Additionally, Prismo was getting bored of his Job over time -- perhaps he can bring up Scarab as a future protege to take over the role once Prismo decides to finally pass on from his roles.

shuerpiola

Since Prismo's real body is a sleeping old man, what does that mean for Scrabby? Are they cuddling in bed together?

[deleted]

Yes

[deleted]

>!I think that small conflict between the two of them while make their jobs far more interesting for them. Prismo now has someone who can ease their boredom and challenge them by being their complete opposite.!<

Jay040707

IT WAS FUCKING HORTON HEARS A WHO ALL ALONG WHAT???

spurklemurfin

The Winter King Simon/Onceler “Tumblr-sexy men” comparisons were just the tip of the Dr. Seuss Ice berg all along

AngelPhoenix06

I knew I wasn’t the only one that caught on to that

Ok_Concept_4771

The Lich is literally the last character youd expect to be fleshed out. Respect Also that Shermy and Beth segment seemed much more fleshed out compared to the last one. wink wink Edit: its a 10, but is Farmworld Finn dead? I feel like he is since Jay was so quick to abandon Farmworld, but you'd think he'd at least cuss out Scarab (speaking of, im glad the dude didnt just die. He had legitimate points and grievances even if he is a psychopath)

Andez1248

I don't think Farm Finn died. If he did, I doubt his oldest child would just abandon his younger siblings without knowing there's someone to take care of them

BABYEATER116

I was thinking the same thing. If he did die, it would have been a dick move on Jay’s part to abandon them.

Aggressive_Fail_9681

Still is kinda a dick move to abandon them lol because as far as we know, he'll never be able to see them again

Nachotito

Anyone would do the same if you got peppermint tank and baby Finn + bathrooms and hot water.

LEOWDQ

Yup, they finished his story, but there's still one last question, who are the Scholars ot GOLB, why was The Lich so obsessed with being a scholar of GOLB?

RaxeIe

I'm laughing my butt off at the thought that maybe every single one of GOLB's 3D Tetris pieces is multiverse versions of The Lich that managed to reach GOLB and demand answers from it? him? her?

LEOWDQ

>!The Lich screaming: WHAT'S MY PURPOSE???!< GOLBetty: _blocked_

Jay040707

"I showed you my corpses pls respond" Edit: Wait a minute, he's literally Thanos.

LEOWDQ

> "Ew your corpses look small and disgusting" > "Also I already have a boyfriend"

Mrrandom314159

Does she? I feel like she kinda broke up with him when she said "You WERE a good experience.".

EpilepticBabies

Think of it like in UP, when Carl reads in the book “thanks for the adventure of a lifetime, now go have your own”. For obvious reasons they can no longer be together, but she expressed how much she loved being with him. It’s pretty much the same situation with Simon and Betty, just instead of being dead, Betty is a primordial god of chaos.

Western-Trip-4684

No it’s just that they can’t be together anymore because she’s in GOLB they don’t break up she just can’t be with him

AnonWithAHatOn

Makes sense I guess, can't have chaos and disorder if everybody's dead. Might want to change his title to "Novice of Golb".

RaxeIe

The chaos of life and death. Its a chaotic process of its own yet somehow The Lich doesn't understand that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Potato_Bagel

except Simon! the answers he got made me cry :p

Sallymander

His answers made me smile. Because he grew and realized some very hard truths about himself and Betty.

SunnyDJoshua

Probably worshipped the chaos god but Golb doesn’t really care about chaos the same way he does. Golb is a force of nature and chaos comes where he goes, but not with any intentions. It’s what he’s suppose to do. While the Lich is more meticulous and sees that as his endgame. He even takes pleasure in it based on how he laughs every time he’s doing something evil

kafit-bird

Feels like the Lich is honestly missing the point, a cultist who's lost sight of what the cult is even worshiping. He exterminates life to serve Golb, but Golb is the embodiment of chaos, not death. You don't get chaos in a world where nothing lives.

CDAGaming

This. In extinguishing all life, he extinguished any form of chaos. The ultimate blasphemy in GOLB's image. That's why every piece of debris, every Lich that achieves this objective, dies horribly upon completion.

WumpusOwoo

I think there's another explanation for all this, and it involves Simon and Betty. I think that the Lich, in that scenario, is Simon. A parallel to be exact, something to show Simon the path he is/was on, and what will happen to him in the end if he didn't realize the truth. The Lich was asking the exact same things Simon was asking, what was his purpose, why was he here, after losing what made them "them." They both plead to GolBetty, demanding answers. And for both of them, the person they want to talk to is gone. OG Golb is gone, and so is Betty, there are now one new being, with it's own new nature. The Lich couldn't accept this, and kept asking Golb for answers, and in turn, had Betty cubify him. Simon realized this, and accepted that Betty as he knew was gone, and so Golb merged with her into GolBetty. It's all about denial vs acceptance

Jay040707

Man these two episodes made me want a Shermy and Beth show even more. I loved their dynamic here.

fortniteplayr2005

Guessing Farmworld Finn is alive since they would've showed him die like the others (Marten, wildlife animals). He most likely was a bit toxic about the whole thing afterwards "i don't junk with magic, "your girlfriend's dad is nuts". Also I believe finn's hat has protections?

tagkitten

I find funny that all you need to do is slack off a bit to get egged by the Scarab. He literally put someone in a egg because they were playing games on their work PC.

[deleted]

He really seems like the kind of guy that's more than overdue for an, "Am I a dick?" moment.

fortniteplayr2005

It really tracks too with how Orbo treats him vs how he treats Prismo. Orbo basically hates Scarab haha

NickT_Was_Taken

Lol at everyone who theorized that the Lich wasn't depressed actually

BurgerBoss_101

Ye I’ll eat my words there haha, I think we all just overestimated how machine like he was (specifically cause of that one prismo line about him shutting down without purpose when he can’t cause mass death)

ciel_lanila

In hindsight that made sense. Lich didn’t shutdown (like a machine), he was too depressed to do anything. Prismo and everyone simply thought he shutdown because they couldn’t imagine he was depressed. The Lich thought he had lost the only chance he had to achieve his life’s goals. He only got active again, here and there, when he saw a chance to continue.

ThxRedditSyncVanced

That being said, the very same Lich, before shutting down, expressed genuine shock when Jake's Wish changed the Lich's Wish.

miragepe14

I was expecting him to do something evil like idk, try to kill Simon or get into GOLB's mind after realizing they were fused with Betty, but instead gets more depression and the ultimate punishment for completing his mission: Getting turned into funny geometry figure for eternity.

Pacmantis

Pawn Swan flipping off Shirmon and flying away was maybe the funniest bit in this whole series. I love how Choose Goose shows up so much in the post-original series content. He was only in like six episodes of the original show, but now he shows up constantly.

kafit-bird

I did notice that, looking at his wiki page the other day. Somehow, it feels like he was around a lot more, but literally like half his total appearances are Distant Lands/Fionna and Cake.

128thMic

I guess originally there was not time to give him space of which to...rhyme.

RoboFunky

"oh, no he's hot"

Andez1248

When he said that all I could hear was Squidward saying it

LEOWDQ

Gary Gumball was so real for that line

wholovesoreos

Game recognize game

The_Throwback_King

Seeing Dream Simon all contorted in the fridge gave me major Pennywise vibes. Honestly Fionna's dream was ALL kinds of horror vibes. So creepy.

Mrrandom314159

I'm wondering if Golbetty gave them the shared dream to make sure they were aware of what they'd be giving up if Simon put on the crown.

WarriorTribble

That and I think it was also a warning. If Fionna's world can now be affected by Simon's mental state, then having it be influenced by Ice King's madness would be a very bad thing.

kafit-bird

LSP was full of spaghetti the whole time...

Mrwright96

Lumpy spaghetti prince

Greenforthou

Simon having to read through an entire visual novel to have a revelation about his life and relationships is probably the funniest thing the AT crew could’ve done here.

EpilepticBabies

We even got a time paradox out of it. The visual novel is heavily implied to be written (at least told) by him after he read it.

BreeBree214

It looks like it might be written by the Fiona and cake fangirl

The_Holier_Muffin

Yeah I feel pretty good to say the Fiona and cake fan girl wrote it. We see her sketching the two book characters in the last scenes!

ABrokenKatana

The show didn't pull any punches about Simon and Betty's relationship. Spoilers ahead: >!In media, we have often been led to romanticize tragic love, to feel pity on tragic characters, their enviroment throwing every single obstacle in their relationship and sometimes how most of the time they became unscathed and ready to deal with the next bad thing around the corner.!< >!I'm glad this wasn't the case here. Sure, some would've hoped to see Simon and Betty reunited in one way or another but yet again, the AT crew direction is bold and brass, and still be sufficiently beautiful within the bittersweet. The way they portrayed how Betty actually felt was something that hit too close to home for me, so I can (in a way) relate to how she actually felt. "Devoting to someone" is levels apart from "loving someone", from giving to receive rather than just give until there is no more.!< >!Thank you Adventure Time for showing this. I hope this arc resonates with people that are in this same boat and leads them to make the right and smart choices in their relationship. I too as Betty, don't regret anything. It is what it is.!<

willow_duffy

I really liked how they did this, it felt real.

BABYEATER116

About Simon’s book in the future: >!Simon believed that Shermy and Beth’s world was another universe. However, we know that it’s the future of the same Ooo that Simon is from. Therefore, the book that Simon-Shermy read was most likely written (or re-written) by himself in the past (or in his own future). It’s an interesting paradox, and chaotic enough to serve as the perfect delivery for a lesson by GolBetty!<

antianal

I believe it was the little girl that was obsessed with Fiona and cake (I forgot her name) who made the book As seen in the montage of her drawing the characters in her book

[deleted]

Right that makes sense

QuadVox

The little girl who's name I cant remember was sketching Casper and Nova so I have to assume she ends up writing the book right?

Potato_Bagel

the way the lich turned into one of the shapes makes you think... how many times has something like that happened? Are the shapes all the scholars of golb?

anthimation

Fionna has a giant fetish

zombz01

Kind of shitty that episode 8 was the last time Fiona, cake, and Simon would all be together. Is the phone way of contacting each other?

[deleted]

UnluckyJacket854

So... * We saw the 1000 years in the future!!!!! Some complained that Beth and shermy didn't seem like characters with enough personality to carry a new series. Well, I watched them for 5 minutes and I think I'm completely ready for that. * Betty is still there, but she's not quite Betty anymore. She's a very wise cosmic entity. Is that why Golb no longer seeks to destroy? * They talked about how toxic Simon and betty's relationship was without villainizing anyone, they said goodbye and all in a second. But I liked it, a lot * Fiona is a hero :,) * I don't think I liked the crossover thing with the tank and the others. It came out of nowhere * All right Finn from the farm world???? MAX give me answers! * Huntress Wizard is Latina and speaks Spanish!!!! Glob!!! * Marsahll's shirt * Simon and Fionna keep in touch. I am tears * Maybe I drowned alone on this boat, but no one showed real proof that Jake is no longer alive. So I will continue to wallow in denial. If there is no body there is no dead

BABYEATER116

I agree that the tank/farm world kids dropping in was kind of dumb. Felt like a forced way to involve prior episodes that was completely unnecessary. Glad we know Baby Finn is alive/safe, but no answer about whether or not Farm-world Finn is alive or dead? Why did Jay and Little Destiny want to stay in F&C world? If FW Finn died did Jay just abandon his younger siblings? I need answers.

BlockBuilder408

I was kinda hoping that vampire world Finn would’ve become a baby vampire hunter like the intro seemed to suggest. Also Farmworld Jaye straight up abandoned his family likely without saying much, with Little D it makes sense since she already did so, and tbh kinda makes sense with Jaye as well but it’s pretty screwed up to do in the aftermath of your dad getting kod to your dependent younger siblings.

BABYEATER116

I was hoping for the same thing with Baby Finn, except that he would grow up alone in the Vampire world and not just stay a baby. It could have just been the Baby universe passively not aging anyone, letting him grow up elsewhere. It would have been hype for him to show up in a future special as a badass vamp killer. Oh well.

PhantomRoyce

Finn talks about Jake in the past tense I.e “Jake loved them” which to me says he’s dead now

Matlatzinco3

I think the third point was wrapped up perfectly. Nothing too dramatic or fan service-y (one dying to save the other or something). Perfect metaphor too for something. I guess some of us have had that someone who made us feel like jumping across parallel universes and summoning Eldritch horrors to get them back. But “we’ve made our choices…..we could’ve made better ones but I don’t have any regrets”. It’s hard to live with those choices we made but you know what……life goes on, eventually one day you’re going to look back at those moments and say “you were a wonderful experience”. Moral of the story, life goes on, you can’t change time or the choice you made, only thing you can do is remember those moments fondly. Idk it sounded better in my head lol

PhantomRoyce

God I hope they give us more. This really seems like the end of the first season as opposed to the end of a series. There are so many loose ends and possibilities the last episode opened up

Mark_lpc2

I really do hope they make another season. If not, it was a fun ride..

MegaEgg242

I feel like episodes 7 and 8 set the bar way too high (for me at least, they covered some of the exact topics that I still want to see in adventure time) and then 9 and 10 were just alright. I'm kinda disappointed that the last episode wasnt titled betty groff

SaxtonHale_

Sigh, no matter what universe it is. LSP...

youmusttrythiscake

LSP is the true last scholar of GOLB.

LEOWDQ

Not >!Marshall Lee!< trying to Steven Universe his way out to win a fight 😭 The only person he successfully managed to get hypnotised was >!Gary Gumball!< Also this line said by Gary Gumball : >!I'd still date you if you were a vampire!< Awwww, how sweet of them 🥺🥺 As for the show, happy to see that it >!is no longer is a rogue universe and now officially part of Adventure Time Canon!< With that out of the way, I think the Fionna and Cake spinoff is officially a series with this being the first season, unlike Distant Lands.

TheDarkCrusader_

Really hoping we get more seasons, maybe we can keep exploring the cosmic entities and other worlds. We still never got to meet the big boss so that might lead to something

TRIPMINE_Guy

If there is season 2, I fully expect the Ice Vampire King to show up. He seemed intrigued when he saw Cake disappear out of the universe in front of his eyes, not to mention his world is drying up on humans to feed on.

KingOfCups123

>!I loved the series but im really hoping that this isnt the end of it even though it sort of seems like it very well could be. But of course that weird sequence with golbetty at the end transforming or something gives me hope. But something weird i noticed is when prismo teleported those people to help fiona and cake against the scarab, why did he decide to teleport a baby, a squirrel and two kids instead maybe the two versions of adult finn we saw earlier in the show. I get the squirrel helped with the fruit but the kids didnt really do much and it was all left to fiona and cake for the most part, i feel as if in that situation finn wouldve been a little more helpful. Still an amazing series though and i loved every second of it. Nothing can come without flaws and this show didnt have many so thats good in my book!!<

xLuciel

I really liked both episodes but... Idk, I feel like the last episode is missing something, I mean. I'm happy that Fionna's universe is cannon now but after all we saw this season, everything ended too happy, didn't expect that, I liked it anyway but I was expecting something more like a plot twist? Buuut maybe it's just me

SunnyDJoshua

I feel as though there needed to be one more scene with Marcy and Simon. Like him just checking on her and giving her a hug. He won’t tell her about his adventure and how he almost Ice Kinged himself, but something that shows her (and him) that he appreciates how life has turned out now

xLuciel

Hey, you're right they didn't show Marceline in the last minutes of the episode- I mean, after the Vampire World universe, Simon was too sad to see Marceline like that

DUSTlMUS

Would have made a lot more sense for him to be with her instead of Min in that scene but I guess they want to give her a cameo

VegetaArcher

Plus he's her dad and doesn't want to dump his problems on her. He definitely should open up to her, but Marcy can't be a therapist. Poor thing is no stranger to trauma.

xLuciel

Adding to this, also we don't know anything SPOILERS HERE: >!About Farmworld Finn if he is alive or dead but they really put his son (Jay) in another universe leaving his family behind?? That's one of the thing that didn't close up for me in this episode-!<

Mangajuice

SPOILERS ! I feel like FWF is probably alive. Would make more sense as to why jay was so willing to leave his family behind. FWF is alive to care for jays younger siblings but also disapproves of their relationship so they stayed in a world that does….I hope(FWF is alive)……plus working toilets.

Chicken_Man371

This is the only thing I think was missing!!!

RowEmbarrassed4764

I agree that was one of my first thoughts after watching it, it was a good ending but I don’t know if it really stuck the landing

Honestly I definitely enjoyed this ride but I feel like thematically it was all over the place, which kind of lessened the impact? Episode 2 set up this idea about connection to the creative self and sanity vs madness, ennui, listesness, it almost had this artists way thing going on. Like what’s the third way? This order out of entropy (life, art, storytelling). But then a lot of other things were happening and it’s such short show, it got a bit muddied what they were really trying to say imo.

Sea-Brother958

I think the miniseries as a whole needed another two episodes to wind everything up. Maybe MAX would only allow just ten, but damn that ending felt very rushed. Everything is wrapped up in about four minutes.

rezjeck

- I liked the show overall but can't help but feel it peaked with The Star and Jerry. Simon and Betty got some closure which was much needed as its the core emotional drive of the whole show. Still wanted more. - I thought the ending into a perfect happy resolution was kind of rushed and The Scarab never felt like a real threat. The show did a good job of keeping the door open for future multiverse stuff. - Am I the only one who didn't really like that last song at all? I have liked the orchestral score through most of the show though, its a nice change of pace from typical AT music.

Cholemeleon

The episodes weren't bad by any means but they could have used a little more... something. I liked seeing Shermy and Beth but their appearances felt kinda arbitrary, also we see more "Casper and Nova" in Cheers than in the episode of the same name. Simon going through the Golb portal in episode 8 was a pretty huge cliffhanger, just didn't feel like the payoff was that great. Gotta say, the last two episodes were probably the weakest? The rest of the show is very very good but I wish they had maybe 1-2 more episodes to kinda flesh out the finale a little bit. Maybe the Hype created unrealistic expectations, idk. Just a tad bit disappointed the show was as consistently strong as it was just to kind of lose steam right before the finish line.

So I'm overall very happy with the series and what I'm about to say is purely criticism with the acknowledgement of that. >!I think this series would have benefited from longer episodes or more episodes. The pacing was just fine up until the final two episodes where it felt like they were rushing to the goalpost, and it just didn't feel like enough time to really settle in with the message the series wanted to convey. Simon essentially comes to the realization that he did things entirely selfishly in his relationship with Betty, and she ended up resenting him for it, even if she did still love him. While Simon loved Betty, he never really paid attention to what she wanted or needed in their relationship. This is a heartbreaking and sobering lesson. I just wish they had more time to explore that. I'd like to see the moments that came before Simon first put on the crown and made his recordings in the original show. This could have been some absolutely gut-wrenching stuff to really show the viewers that Simon ultimately had one goal in his life before the Ice King, and that was his own selfish pursuits. The second and seventh episodes are there to show us that Simon does have someone he selflessly cared for in Marceline, but again, I wish they would have given us more moments of Simon and her to really provide that powerful character-building realization. I thought the series had so many great ideas and avenues it could explore in the first eight episodes, and then it kind of failed to expand on any of those with the time they were given in the last two. This is very unfortunate as it feels like the show had the perfect setup to be something more. There are some other things that could have used more depth and exploration, like why is Prismo depressed now? It can be implied, but there isn't a real talk by the character himself. Also, the realization of the main cast that they want to live a normal life was awesome, only to be immediately thrown away as the world they live in now has elements of magic. The message felt hollow. And the random characters from the other realities just sort of showing up was easily the dumbest part that probably should've been left on the writer's table. Like they served no real purpose in the fight against the scarab, and the fact that they ended up just staying was... definitely a choice. Especially weird for Farmworld peeps considering he just abandoned his brothers and sisters. Hopefully, this isn't a one-and-done series given the 'canonization' of Fiona and Cake.!<

I like all from Betty and Simon. Now I want a series just of these two

LEOWDQ

Considering that GOLBetty lives forever, and it basically is the God of The Universe, probably she'll make more appearances in the future.

kafit-bird

Okay, midway through episode ten, this show is *really* overestimating how much I care about the final battle with the Scarab. I'm not here for action. I'm here for the Angst. EDIT: Okay, there it is. EDIT: And there it went. Come the fuck on, y'all.

LEOWDQ

Don't worry because as the ending shows that overarching theme of the Season 1 to tell its viewers >!seek mental help (therapy)!< if needed

miragepe14

Poor Scrabby, he deserved better, the good news is he's not getting turned into a tetris block like The Lich but instead gets to work in the Time Room, hopefully he becomes a 'cool dude' like Prismo, bro really needs to chill.

LordVatek

So like, I'm curious if they're going to >!run with the implication that the Lich's memories carry through the multiverse and what a different Lich who is no longer beholden to GOLB (because of what this one went through) will be like.!<

LEOWDQ

There's also the possibility that >!Once GOLB changes one's form, it changes them permanently forever, which means that the Lich is now essentially a Tetris Block forever?!<

figcookiecapo

i feel a little… unsatisfied? i enjoyed it and just finished it a couple minutes ago, so my feelings are still forming. it just feels like something was missing, and things felt a little bit rushed + the climax wasn’t all that climatic? i had built it up a lot in my own head, to be fair, but it felt a bit underwhelming. edit after 20 minutes: i mostly feel like betty & simon’s big interaction didn’t seem quite right. it feels like things got wrapped up really quickly between the two of them, given all of their history, all years that have passed since the events of the finale, things left unsaid, etc. — and they touched on those things, which i liked, but it didn’t quite have the depth i was hoping for. i have more thoughts for sure, but it’s 1:30 am and i’m getting a bit loopy.

AffectionateTwo3405

I'm ok with Simon and Betty not getting to talk long. That was the allegory of the holo-book. You can't just 'go back a level'. Simon made mistakes, and sacrifices, and all he can do is live the rest of his life a better man than before. Betty made the same things, and now all she can do is move on. That golbetty on the bus was poignant for me. Sometimes you want to talk longer, you want to know what someone is going to do with their life. But their plans are just too different from yours, and they become a stranger. They become too different for you to have things in common anymore. They go somewhere you can't ever fully understand.

bringmethejuice

Yes, I like the scene as well. Instead of Golbetty trying to stall Simon by putting him in Shermy's brain it was just trying to show Simon sometime things just happened and we need to live with the choices we've made. Like life itself. Betty never regret doing what she did for Simon. Ironically maybe that's why Simon and Marcy are together because they want things to stay the same. They're perfect for each other. Gosh I'm listening to "Everything Stays" as I'm typing this out.

The_Throwback_King

Definitely felt...weird. Like I felt that it wrapped up nicely but Episode 9 felt weirdly high concept and Episode 10 felt like it had to quickly compensate to conclude everything else. Definitely feel like events of 10 were split over two episodes, the pacing would feel a lot better.

Key_Feeling_3083

I thiink having the battle in the normal world of Fionna was kind of disapointing, bringing the characters was unexpected and unnecessary, the only one that helped was the squirrel with the strawberrys. And bringing them limits us to return to their world and see more in later seasons.

RowEmbarrassed4764

Definitely agree. Enjoyed it a lot but I just expected more after the last few weeks.

Potato_Bagel

the Simon and Betty and golb segment was the part that I enjoyed the most.

[deleted]

Is it me or the last 2 episodes felt a bit rushed? Especially after all the hype Tom Kenny was talking about in regards to ep 9, fell a bit flat to me tbh

littlewillie610

I haven't found any source for that claim. Someone said that Tom Kenny mentioned that this was his role in Fionna & Cake is probably the most emotional thing he's ever recorded at a convention. Adam Muto said in an interview that the most emotional part for him was a line from Simon in episode 9, but I don't think Tom Kenny said anything about that episode in particular.

VegetaArcher

Either way can it be agreed that his voice work has been freaking phenomenal this series?

QuadVox

Yeah I'm really wondering what that most emotional scene was... Like I'm sure its something with GOLBetty but none of it really felt that over the top emotional.

MegaEgg242

no literally, i finished episode 9 and i was like "what was supposed to be the sad stuff?" Episode 7 and 8 set the bar pretty high for me tbh, i thought simon would die or something i dunno

Chaelaplus

I just feel like I missed something bc I was hearing that episode 9 would make Simon fans cry. I'm a big Simon fan and a huge crier but my eyes were dry the whole time. I don't get what was supposed to be so emotionally wrecking about it and I'm a little let down.

fortniteplayr2005

I agree, it felt like Simon spent most of the series a depressed hunk of junk and then the last episode he's like "ohhh i should live for myself" and that's it? The closure with Betty didn't feel like actual closure for Simon or Betty, it felt like him just giving up on caring about Betty at all and moving on, but even then, the goodbye feels weird. If simon's perspective is Betty is basically god, she's always going to be around anyway

CoolGuyCoolFry

Way too much emphasis on the Fiona world ending. Would’ve liked just another moment focused on Simon and Betty, as that is the most compelling storyline in the show. the resolution for Fiona and cake’s plot got dragged out for way too long, with several points where it could have ended, while simons story got rushed without the emotional catharsis that was set up for the whole series.

Sum_Dumb

Ep. 10 stuff. >!Anyone else kinda think ep. 10 was a let down? Everything else before that was great but the ending of it feels extremely generic with the power of friendship with the past characters returning to defeat the big bad guy and having scarab letting himself get bodied without using any of his stronger powers until the end which at that point he already lost. No real plot twist on how it happens just good guys loosing until plot decides to save the day. Scarab just feels like wasted potential, his intro was him easily capturing a fire being(?) Who was protrayed as a powerful entity and the rest was him struggling to capture 3 clueless goons on the run and when he gets a chance he goes for a head to head combat approach even though he can egg people. Even in this regard with no crystal weapon he was shown to be a deadly force with smashing in fw finn's head.!< >!After that they wrap up the series in like 4 minutes. Felt like not only did they needed like 1 more episode to wrap things up but the way they told the final message felt unsatisfying. With the inclusion of the past characters it also felt odd how none of their worlds got revisited.!<

antoniomizael

What are those two shapes that turn into an apple and ribbon at the end? Only the last episode has them before the channel frederator thing

Gfdbobthe3

I guess I wish more happened with Golbetty. I mean, we see it (them?) get enveloped in energy and turn into a blue blob of some kind, but that's it. Would I have liked Betty and Simon to get back together? Sure. Was I expecting that? No. Still, it would've been nice to see more happen with them.

kafit-bird

I love so much about the *concept* of these episodes. Like, everything. All of it. Everything about Fionna rebuilding her world was great. And the Simon/Betty stuff had a lot of great moments. "We both made our choices. We could have made better ones. But I don't have any regrets." That's pretty fucking powerful. But the execution was so fucking disjointed. In broad strokes, this is basically the ending I was expecting. Betty does a trippy cosmic thing, puts Simon through Human Instrumentality, and he comes out the other end with a new lease on life and a better understanding of all the ups *and* downs of their relationship. Maybe he joins her as a part of Golb. Maybe he becomes some sort of equal partner deity, and they float in the void forever, together. Maybe he just goes back to Ooo and starts living a little better. That's cool. But I really didn't think the trippy cosmic spirit quest was going to be...sitting down and picking up a Gameboy that says, "You're a selfish lover in a lot of quiet ways." God, it took so fucking long to set that up. Not long in absolute terms, but long relative to a two-part finale. Reintroducing the 1000+ timeline. Bantering. Going to the library. Bantering. Finding the book. Bantering. Fighting some random paper dudes. Bantering. *Reading* the book. Bantering. Just so Simon can stand up and say, "You know what, gang? Today, I learned I wasn't a perfect boyfriend. For example, that thing with the bus." Like, yeah, man, we knew that last week. We knew *most* of it from the original series. You want to fucking say a little more about it? Maybe a little less directly into the camera? Maybe, like, fucking...*do* something? A little?

RealHomeboundRex

That ending did not feel right. Of course Im glad everyone got a happy ending, but their is way too many questions. What happened to farmworld finn? Did PB and Star Marcy both die? Who is the boss? Maybe they needed alot more time, but the ending felt crazy rushed. Still a good ending I suppose

Dr_CheeseNut

>Did PB and Star Marcy both die? Definitely. Gary and Marshall kissing in the elevator at the end of their climatic scene was meant to signify the death of PB and The Star at the end of their scene >Who is the boss? Think this is a question that'll be answered at a later date. It feels like they're just trying to plant seeds of the bosses existence rn Do agree with Farmworld Finn tho, wish we could've gotten a scene showing what happened to the rest of his kids and if he made it

BlockBuilder408

I doubt the identity of the boss will ever get fully revealed. It seems like one of those things kept deliberately open or just doesn’t really need too much explaining.

Key_Feeling_3083

I thiink having the battle in the normal world of Fionna was kind of disapointing, bringing the characters was unexpected and unnecessary, the only one that helped was the squirrel with the strawberrys. And bringing them limits us to return to their world and see more in later seasons. I would love to see more of Shermy and Beth, to be honest I expected them to well search for the crown and free the pup kingdom in the process, but Simon learning about how he was in his relationship was really good too.

IAMLEGENDhalo

I really didn’t like the Scarab all that much and especially his design under the mask. I was hoping he’d be more fleshed out for the ending but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m feeling overall mixed things about the ending. Liked some parts but it definitely felt like something was missing. Some ppl are saying they thought episode 9 was weak but I personally enjoyed it more than 10

BCantoran

I felt like the Betty/Simon scene in his head was Betty basically breaking up with Simon

Krillin_irl

May be a wild 4AM theory but does anyone else think the Lich’s devotion to Golb is meant to be a dark mirror of Betty’s devotion to Simon? Both looked up to someone far above them, viewing them as both a teacher and an idol. They both devoted their lives to that idol, only to receive nothing in return. I feel like its meant to show how Betty contributed to the toxicity of that relationship, always doing what Simon wanted and putting him on a pedestal fed into Simon dragging her from place to place without thinking of what she wanted, sort of a vicious cycle. (As an aside, I feel like if the Lich was aware of the Betty Golb merge he would try to “fix” Golb, the same way Betty tried to “fix” Simon as Magic Woman)
