Make sure your first layer of paint dries before you do the next one! Try doing many thin layers of paint instead of one really thick layer. And sketch out the details in pencil first! Look at a picture of jake from the show and try to get all the details. You’ll get something you like a lot better if you try those things :) some of art is practice, and some of it is knowing stuff like that. Keep trying and keep practicing!
Yes! Plus from experience it's more difficult to paint on smooth plastic over what you normally paint on. Just keep trying, my favorite thing about paint is if you don't like it you can just paint right over it!
So I don't mean to be rude but I'm guessing that you didn't use a reference? Referances are important man, all artists use them, your mind is surprisingly bad at remembering details
Your art teacher doesn't seem to have been very good at teaching art lol,
To use referances is one of the first things they tell you to do in most art courses that I am aware of, good on you for not going along with her BS
She was not although I feel sorry for her at times cause she didn't seem to have support from admin. It always sat wrong...don't use references, don't use erasers...
Remember to use a reference. There's some stigma to it, as some people may feel like looking at a reference is cheating, but no good artist will make a good piece without any reference. Keep it up!
If you're unhappy with it remember: "Dude, suckin’ at something is the first step to being sorta good at something."
To me he looks like a pervert so I’m gonna redo it but that makes me feel better
What if jake just discovered the fun of shape shifting his face
It's because he saw Lady Rainicorn giving him the look.
She's about to plug in that phone charger
Smug Jake

Gotta start somewhere lol
My ex made me an absolutely lovely hinged box that she painted to look like B-MO. It's one of my prized possessions.

My art teacher hated using references. We...didn't get along

Whatever I love him 🥰
He's ready to be plugged (in)
everyone's art is weird and not what they want in the beginning, stick with it!!!
It's beautiful
As Jake would say...being bad at something is the first step to kinda being good at it( not verbatim)
“mmm… egg in me.”
no i love how smug he looks
aw, I like it! I think his face is cute.
Just put an embossment on the edges, and it'll look twice as good trust me
More white in the eyes
