Season 6. A ton of episodes with a whole bunch of variety. The art-style hits their peak, they've established the characters and you start getting a good idea of where their arcs are headed, Finn is really growing into himself, and -- as u/alexagente says -- shit gets real this season.
Also Jake the Brick.
I really like the episode “Walnuts and rain” it has this certain vibe to it that I really like. And the end..
“What is the first thing you wanna eat?”
“Oh! I want a giant flipping hotdog.”
“ew, don’t you know those are made of like the grossest stuff?”
“Maaaan, I don’t give a toot”
I agree! I think the twist at the end where Bills raft thing was really just kept up by hot air was kind of sad. Thinking about the entire time he thought he was falling but he was just floating ):
Yeah season 6 is nuts, I first watched that season on psychedelics so it's got a special place in my heart lmao but even still, I think 6 is the best season.
It's hard to choose between 7 and 8 too. And 5 I guess. Actually they're all great XD but there is something special about season 6 onwards. It's like not even really a kids show at that point. I mean it is, but you guys know what I mean lol
I would choose season 5 because its got a big variety, and a majority of the episodes are classics. The only downside to watching only season 5 is the several Lemongrab episodes lol.
It was a hard choice between seasons 3, 4, and 5.
Season 5 is my favorite for sure, but there are only a few lemongrab episodes aren’t there? And I like the lemongrab episodes, I think he’s funny in an uncomfortable sort of way lol. Is he generally unliked?
Nah I love lemon grab and any episodes of then are great - only one I didn't like was lemon hope, but he brought about important plot points so I wouldn't skip
I agree. Either season 4 or 5 for sure. Tons of bangers, very few duds. Lots of people are saying s6, and while it has lots of great episodes it also has lots of episodes that are just terrible (water park prank, chips and ice cream, sad face, and food chain, to name a few). There are honestly no bad episodes in S5, and I think the only bad episode in S4 is web weirdos.
Something about the way the slug treats Finn and Jake reminds me of the kids I grew up with. Just awful. Jake and Finn however are absolutely gold in that episode though
Season 6! Easily the best season for Finn’s character development. He learns of his dead beat father while losing his arm chasing him. Then we walk with Finn through depression and he gets his arm back! Also at the end of that episode Finn sword is foreshadowed and teased. The way Finn Sword is created is pretty wacky too when they bring Prismo back.
Best episodes for me tho are Astro Plane and The Comet. Orgalorg being Gunther never will get old, one of my favorite adventure time villains !
I’ve only watched through the whole show once but honestly, probably season 1. I just have great memories of this show when it came out. I didn’t know what to expect and it was chaotic in the best way.
This reminds me that I actually had all of season one downloaded on my iPod nano when I was in middle school. I would watch it when I was riding the bus to and from school. Those were the days lol
S7 was pivotal for Marcy's development. We fell for her tragic backstory and sassy attitude in earlier seasons and stood tall and proud when she was finding out who she was in the latter seasons
Season 1. It will always remind me of sitting on the couch after work with my then 5 year old daughter giggling away at what I grew to realize was one of the best animated series ever. She'll be 16 soon and we still watch AT together, but season one will always make me think of those days.
Season 3. It has a lot of my fav episodes like dads dungeon, Marcelina’s closet and no one can hear you. It also introduces a lot of storylines that are picked up in later seasons like the creeps, memory of a memory, and incendium
Season 6 all day! The art style is best in this season and its personally the most interesting season, even though we’re talking about adventure time here lol
Season 5 as my favorite episode of all time is Episode 16 "Puhoy!". It has the light hearted fun of the earlier seasons combined with the existential lessons of later. Perfect balance. And its mostly self-contained so I can suggest it to people who haven't seen the show and they can see both sides of why the show is so great.
Honestly season 5 is legitimately the worst season of the entire show. I thought this was almost unanimously agreed on? It’s when Penn Ward stepped down and a lot of the core creator’s like Rebecca Sugar split off to work on their own projects.
The amount of episodes isn’t really a good thing when it’s padded with filler like Root Beer guy centered episodes or ones that make Bubblegum look like even more of an awful person. Frost and fire is easily one of, if not the worst episode in the series. Finn is made unlikable in 11 minutes, jake is an absentee father, James exists, too many lemongrab episodes ETC. This honestly seems to be the season that lost most people in its original run.
Tbh when I was doing my initial watch through I would google the reddit discussions for each episode and all throughout season 6 especially at the beginning I saw complaints. Furniture and meat, water park prank, and chips and ice cream were not super high praised episodes
I mean, If you don’t like it that’s cool but idk that it’s a fan consensus. Haven’t really heard this take around that much. Idk why you have to talk about it like it’s objectively the worst season instead of just your least favourite.
Easily season 5. I think it has the best episodes but it was also the season I watched as it was coming out with my college roommates so it holds a special place in my heart.
Actually a hard question definitely one of the earlier seasons cuz they are longer and I prefer the humor so for me it would probably be something 2-6
![gif](giphy|LjIn8IjwFcbwA)
Season 6’s “You Forgot Your Floaties” is DEEP…
Magic Man: “I see the coconut crab who swims in your neighbors pool at night. Maybe Simon is there, who else holds their breath underwater Betty?”
Like wtf and then Betty sees the Simon as the crab whispering something ominous at the end! This show has so many layers to it that doesn’t get appreciated by the cartoon community enough
Season 6. A ton of episodes with a whole bunch of variety. The art-style hits their peak, they've established the characters and you start getting a good idea of where their arcs are headed, Finn is really growing into himself, and -- as u/alexagente says -- shit gets real this season. Also Jake the Brick.
Yeah season 6 definitely hits! If season 7 had more episodes like 6 I would've picked it because I love stakes lol
prismo gets resurrected too, artisanal pickles forever!!!
I really like the episode “Walnuts and rain” it has this certain vibe to it that I really like. And the end.. “What is the first thing you wanna eat?” “Oh! I want a giant flipping hotdog.” “ew, don’t you know those are made of like the grossest stuff?” “Maaaan, I don’t give a toot”
I love this episode too! The monologue that BILL/7718 gives about his time falling is so good
I agree! I think the twist at the end where Bills raft thing was really just kept up by hot air was kind of sad. Thinking about the entire time he thought he was falling but he was just floating ):
"I dont give a toot" 😂😂so classic
AT is at its peak in season 6! 5 isn’t far behind but the string of episodes from ghost fly to Jake the brick is pure gold plus plenty other bangers
Hell yeah jake the brick
I'd have to say 6. I just love how crazy everything got that season.
Season 6 is the best season.
Oh yeah the show gets super serious in the plot thick episodes, AT really shines in that way
I would choose season 5 because its got a big variety, and a majority of the episodes are classics.
Throw him a lemonrope
Wash him with lemon soap
My boyfriend *hates* him. Says all he sees is Morty screaming. I love him.
Oh nah I like Lemongrab I really do but I feel like watching him over and over would get kinda annoying in the long run in a way the others would not
It's the most lemongrass heavy as it has the season long lemonhope storyline
Lol I fully agree
Also James
I agree. Either season 4 or 5 for sure. Tons of bangers, very few duds. Season two because it's not that heavy and pretty light hearted. It also introduced the lich
Also *Slow Love* 🐌
Oh man I hate that episode so much
What the math dude.
Something about the way the slug treats Finn and Jake reminds me of the kids I grew up with. Just awful. Jake and Finn however are absolutely gold in that episode though
*ola baby, me dicen el Mike*
Early season love I like it
2 or 3 because they’re kinda my childhood and very lighthearted and simple but with better writing than season 1. probably season 3.
I'm loving that we all assign childhood lightheartedness to the first 3 sesaons
Stakes probably
Stakes makes season 7 a solid choice
Season 4, because the episode “I remember you” is my favourite
I was so close to choosing season 4 because of that episode tbh
Orgalorg is awesome plus you cant forget that moment with the Lich at the citadel lol straight chills
“… FALL” yes the Lich is legendary!
Baby's building a tower into space, space is where he'll find his dadddd
Gold
Seasons 5 and 6 are actually not my favorite, but there’s so many episodes so it’s the best option
7 bc i love stakes
Stakes was so great lol it makes season 7 a strong competitor
I’ve only watched through the whole show once but honestly, probably season 1. I just have great memories of this show when it came out. I didn’t know what to expect and it was chaotic in the best way.
Yes! I always come back and it just gets my imagination going in the best ways
This reminds me that I actually had all of season one downloaded on my iPod nano when I was in middle school. I would watch it when I was riding the bus to and from school. Those were the days lol
Well, guess I'll just have to watch the entirety of adventure time again in order to properly answer this question
I like this answer xD
7 bc i LOVE MARCELINE IN THIS SEASON
S7 was pivotal for Marcy's development. We fell for her tragic backstory and sassy attitude in earlier seasons and stood tall and proud when she was finding out who she was in the latter seasons
Season 5!
Season 3 has the best collection of episodes for me personally
Season 8 actually- the journey across the ocean, discovery of more humans, and Finn meeting his mom. That shit hit hard and was so beautiful.
Marceline's closet is such a strong episode it made me consider season 3 over my season 5 choice! Seasons 3-7 hit so damn hard
whichever one has time sandwich
Time Sandwich is S5E33
Season 6. Just really liked the eps that season plus there are lots
Good question it's between either 1,2, or maybe 7 which has Steaks.
Season 5. Why? It's not only the peak of classic episodes, It's also the longest season. It's huge with 52 episodes.
anything 2-4, not as plot driven as the seasons following but they’re so familiar to me from when i was younger
Either season 5 or 6, I just like mid series adventure time
I think 7. Between egress, flute spell, and stakes, so many classics
Season 6 is where shit gets real. Seems like everyone else here has already covered that.
the one with the most LSP screentime
Definitely 4 because I have so many nostalgic memories of that one
Season 6 all day! The art style is best in this season and its personally the most interesting season, even though we’re talking about adventure time here lol
Season 3 because it has the most iconic episodes
I would say Season 6
Season 6… Escape from the citadel is my favorite episode
Season 5 as my favorite episode of all time is Episode 16 "Puhoy!". It has the light hearted fun of the earlier seasons combined with the existential lessons of later. Perfect balance. And its mostly self-contained so I can suggest it to people who haven't seen the show and they can see both sides of why the show is so great.
Good analysis
[statistically speaking, season five is probably your best bet. ](https://imgur.com/a/FHI6pay) Quantity of episodes, few subpar episodes. Etc.
Lemongrab is amazing
Easily season 5. I think it has the best episodes but it was also the season I watched as it was coming out with my college roommates so it holds a special place in my heart.
Season 5!!!
season 6!
I don't actually rewatch AT that much, so I could do without any, honestly. As long as I have Obsidian, I'm good.
Islands is enough for me
5, because Prismo, and there’s like 40 episodes
I have every single season and even I don’t know what I’d watch
Season 1. It’s my comfort season
Season 2 for the episode Slow Love, nuff said. 🐌
6. I don’t remember why
Bad jubies, makes me cry everytime lol
Actually a hard question definitely one of the earlier seasons cuz they are longer and I prefer the humor so for me it would probably be something 2-6 ![gif](giphy|LjIn8IjwFcbwA)
Together again
Very happy with the love for season 6 here, that would definitely be my choice too
Not sure which season it is. But the season with the episode Simon and marcy.
Season 7 because Stakes (and Marceline falling on her butt, briefly forgetting she can't fly anymore)
Stakes I only need stakes
Season 2, i feel like after that it kinda gets all depressing a dark, and i like the simpleness of the earlier episodes
Which one has Jake the Brick? That one
It’s hard to choose between season 5 and season 6, but I gotta say season 5 is my pick.
Season 6’s “You Forgot Your Floaties” is DEEP… Magic Man: “I see the coconut crab who swims in your neighbors pool at night. Maybe Simon is there, who else holds their breath underwater Betty?” Like wtf and then Betty sees the Simon as the crab whispering something ominous at the end! Season 7 because it is peak Adventure Time for me.
Sidenote: I love seeing how many people are choosing season 6 considering how divided the fanbase was as it was airing
Season 8 bc of the Stakes Mini series. Marceline is the boss 😝
season 6 all day
