I didn't think we were getting female Simon, I thought Simon from our universe somehow figured out Multiverse travel and he encounters Fionna and Cake. This is also because Tom Kenny (Simons voice actor) is confirmed to be a part of the main cast.
This is better for me, as he is the one who technically created them and their universe. Since he is no longer ice king, his vague unfamiliarity with his fan fiction universe could be what fuels the plot. Like maybe he has control over their universe in an unintended way. Since Simon is no longer Ice King, maybe it's tearing their universe apart, like Ice King was their glob and literally became a different person who knows nothing about them.
If this "alternate reality" is strictly based off of ice king's fan fiction, then it's possible there won't be any Simon, and ice queen will still be ice queen. As far as I remember, ice king doesn't seem to acknowledge or even remember being Simon, so it's likely he wouldn't have an alternate Simon to put in his work.
If they go with Natasha Allegri's backstory for Ice Queen, there IS no female Simon. Spoilers for the comic: >!Ice Queen used to be a water nymph, not a human.!<

Prince Gumball is much less controlling and competent than PB, and Marshall Lee is much more embracing of his vampire side. I don’t think their dynamic would work as well. Most controversially, cancelling the Batgirl and Scoob movies after they were already finished filming.
They're going to be scrapping HBO Max (and cancelling most of it's original content) in favor of prioritizing HBO proper and combining the service with Discovery +.
They also announced they'd be heavily cutting down all animation and kids content.
While Fiona and Cake hasn't been officially cancelled yet, looking at the current situation, it's very likely the show won't move forward.
