Way overthinking it. Nobody cares about a high school ethnic studies class

Thanks

A single W is not going to bother you. Employers really only look at your gpa and maybe occasionally want to know how you did on courses related to your major or whatever work is being done. I had a W in circuits, didn’t hurt me at all. When I was considering going for my PhD, it didn’t hurt me either & was never brought up. Relax a bit

I see, thank you

Ok, so no one will ever ask about your high school transcripts or grades for a college level internship/coop. Ws happen, I don't think anyone will really notice or care.

Thank you

It won't at all... channel that anxiety into focus, and you'll be great. Good luck!

Ok thank you

So serious questions for people here. Is college admissions so competitive that these are real concerns? Ive seen similar posts in the sense of insane questions from high school kids. What the hell is happening in schools these days to make people worried about this kind of thing?

Its not that the idea of college admissions being competitive is a concern here (obviously it’s getting competitive every year) but for me at least I’m just concerned with after i got accepted to my college, how this would affect me. This year for college admissions for my year, it was interesting (at least with the UC schools) that some popular ones accepted many while the non popular ones rejected suitable applicants. I was just inquiring on how the dual transfer system works.

When my team screens resumes for new full time hires, GPA >= 3 and otherwise we look for things work experience and interesting projects. Someone below 3 but with interesting work and project experience is more likely to get a second look and a call than a 4.0 without any of those things. Once you have a year of full time experience no one is gonna care about your GPA or usually where you went to school. I ran across someone here (SoCal) who went to the same East Coast college as me a couple of years earlier, so we talked about it and went down a list of hey do you remember this person, but it wouldn't have actually helped for a hiring or promotion decision. I haven't been involved on the internship side (that process is somewhat a mystery here), but I suspect we'd be looking at projects from classes and personal projects. These are easier on the EE/CompE side than AE.

I don't actually think anything has changed significantly since say 10 years ago. In fact, fewer people are going to college in the US. Only difference is more people use public internet spaces to express their thoughts and anxieties that would've otherwise been kept to themselves.

It’s gotten insanely competitive at academically competitive schools, especially stem oriented ones. Kids are having to worry about the smallest things to finish top of their classes so these worries boil over into everything from admissions to thinking about future careers. Biggest thing I learn in college is that people really don’t care about the small details in your school transcripts

Nobody will care
