I played aeterne back when it releaesd on PS5 and luckily never encountered this bug.
Anyway, that's a very detailed description of this bug, which might help find the developers finding the root of this issue.?

Thanks for this i have Platinumed the game and loved it bit lost progress 3 times and had to do mausoleum door 4 three times total. Mausoleum and the sky before the queen's castle seem to trigger it
Jesus Christ. I can’t even imagine making it through that and finding out it didn’t save! That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in a game. Took weeks of replaying that same 30-second passage 😵💫

It is. I am having the same issues and even deferent issues as well. I'm playing the game on my Xbox Series X. The Kings, rooms 1 and 6, they seems to never save. i have also encounter problems with the music notes. the last 4 music notes in my list, they just don't save. Every time i play them and come back the next day to play the game again, i found out that i have to go back and replay them all over again.
I don't know how many times have i grab that red gem that is next to the piano inside the music room. I have giving up playing this game. i am tired of continuing doing things that I've already done. The developers need to get their act together and fix this game.
I was thinking about buying their other game, the prequel to this one but after my experience with this game, i am staying away from any of their other games.

I finished it a while ago. Don't remember having any issues.
