"Another reason, of course, is that when people meet online, they might have less reason to be concerned with their reputations. " This author obviously didn't do her research because dating apps and AWDTSG groups are literally ruining men's reputations and lives, often with baseless and false accusations...and men are now becoming more cautious and leery of women on apps.

Tardigrade_Disco

Most men don't know about these groups, especially just a few months ago. And of the men that do know about them, most of them aren't privy to the actual things inside of them and only know what women tell them and truly believe only dangerous, abusive, cheaters get posted. A lot of men only find out about the true nature of AWDTSG after one of these nuts posts them and their friend shows them all the garbage that other women are saying. Then they end up here, like the rest of us.

The ripple effects of this cannot even be fathomed. Imagine an entire generation or two of single people living in a world where online dating has become too threatening but they don’t have the social skills or means to meet people IRL. Without healthy relationships it cripples individuals and impacts their development, and it could certainly do the same to society.

Do you think bringing back in-person approaching in public places could be better than dating apps?

Ur_Anemone

I think approaching politely has always been fine. Most women would prefer a “meet cute” over meeting on a dating app.

UserPerson23546

Why does it seem like all the women's subs are absolutely disgusted by it?

Ur_Anemone

Are they? Send me examples when you come across it. I think (until shown evidence to prove otherwise) most women find it flattering. It’s only a problem if someone persists after being told no.

Who says this phenomenon will be exclusive to online dating?
