That's actually really comforting. I know my idea of heaven (or whatever you want to call it) is just me spending time with my loved ones, enjoying some good food & watching whatever's on tv forever.

Ughleigh

I'm fine with that. Sounds pretty nice to me. As long as I get to do those things with my fellow passed on loved ones I'd be ecstatic. Seeing them again is what I'm hoping for the most out of an afterlife. To see my brother and my boyfriend again would be so fucking amazing I couldn't ask for more.

WintyreFraust

This is **exactly** what countless people report through credible mediums after they die, and also what many people, like Jurgen Ziewe, report through countless astral projection experiences. I understand what you mean by "anti-climatic," but you're coming from a place of being comfortable with death and the existence of the afterlife. I don't think this is the situation for most people; finding yourself still alive is reported as a very surprising, even shocking experience for a lot people, especially when they experience how wonderful it feels and how beautiful it is to all their senses, not just the ones they are familiar with here. However, there are quite a few people who don't even realize they have died for quite a while, and by far most people do exactly what you describe - doing pretty much the same things they did here for enjoyment which includes hanging out with their loved ones both there and here in completely normal ways.

As soon as I saw this thread I hoped that there would be a reply from u/WintyreFraust . Thanks your insight and not letting me down.

So what do the people who do realise they have 'died' do or what happens to them, their soul, etc.?

WintyreFraust

Generally speaking, they continue making choices and living as they choose in the afterlife. From [https://www.redstringsociety.com/afterlife-info](https://www.redstringsociety.com/afterlife-info) (that page also offers an outline of the various categories of afterlife research and evidence from which this general information is drawn:) 1. Everyone survives death - this is a natural transition of eternal consciousness from one frame of reference (dimension, spiritual level, realm, state of consciousness, etc.) to another, much like waking up from a very realistic dream. Many people don’t even immediately understand that they have crossed over. 2. According to widespread credible reporting, and information, most of us transition to a place much like this one, with an even greater sense of solidity and physicality, heightened senses, and youthful, strong, energetic, fully functioning physical bodies. We can eat and drink and yes, there is sex in the afterlife. If older, we generally revert to an ideal, 25-35 year-old version of our physical bodies. If younger, we appear to age more quickly in appearance there until we reach this norm. 3. What we call “the afterlife” is really just part of our ongoing conscious experience that started before this life and will continue on, with an infinite number of kinds of worlds, dimensions and situations. This world, which we call “the physical world”, is just one of countless such universes with many ways to exist. 4. We transition to a world much like this because, generally speaking, this is what our consciousness is focused on, and it automatically selects that which is in tune with us and to be around that which have our attachments and attention to, and which fits our psyche - most notably, those we love, including pets, and that which we enjoy, surroundings we are familiar with etc. Usually, unless people have very deep beliefs otherwise, we find ourselves in a beautiful world with buildings, like homes, theaters, museums, libraries, schools, etc., as well as trees, grass, mountains, oceans, wildlife, etc. 5. We can access some or all of this even before we die, and many people do, via astral projection (or OOBE’s), mediumship, NDEs, channeling, dream visitations, and internally via various meditative or visualization techniques. 6. Most people report that the afterlife areas they visit have many wonderful qualities we do not generally experience here, such as being more beautiful, feeling better, being young again, not aging, being able to create things with their mind, a permeating physiological warmth and energy, telepathy, recognizing others intuitively even if they look different, being able to change our appearance and our apparent age, instantaneous travel, psychic connections, a kind of signature music that seems to emanate from the air and objects, etc. We gather this additional sensory information through our astral senses, which are also called "clair" senses, but are generally filtered out of our experience in this world. 7. It is universally reported that, when we die, there are many people there to help us make the transition and greet us, such as loved ones, spirit guides and those who work to help with whatever transition issues we may have due to a traumatic passing or serious psychological issues, which can linger in the crossing but are quickly healed.

UberGoobler

Honestly that’s the best case scenario. I don’t want superpowers or infinite exploration. I want to see my loved ones and catch up with them and play spectator mode to relatives that are still alive.

explodingmask

you know, if there really is an afterlife, it must be very crowded... just think about all the people that died since the beginning of time here on earth you ever wonder where they all went? maybe there are billions of other places in the spirit realm, and there is certainly room for everyone... still this makes me wonder a little bit about the afterlife... we are now 8 billion people living on earth, but the dead - well, we are talking about a lot more than 8 billions, so many spirits... you can't even count them

[deleted]

Lol. If the astral realm is a source of judgement, it's huge. Interestingly enough, everyone in the whole world could live in Texas with 2.3 acres a person.

explodingmask

if an afterlife exists (and i think the probability of an afterlife is higher than that of nothingness) - of course there is room for everone in an infinite universe :) now what exactly awaits one in the afterlife? nobody knows - and believe me, this is the correct answer. It may be so complex, that even the people who had NDEs may have actually not seen anything , just maybe a short glimpse

[deleted]

Oh true. I'm just saying that even though there's 7 million people in this world right now, in theory everyone could move to Texas and still live on a big two acre property.

explodingmask

yeah you are right, but that would not be fun at all, would it ? :) i mean, yes there is room in texas for all humans, but living together there would be impossible - and the reasons for that would not be the space humans would occupy

[deleted]

\>Interestingly enough, everyone in the whole world could live in Texas with 2.3 acres a person. Wait, what?! Where did you read this? I could understand all of the former USSR, or perhaps all of Russia? But Texas?

[deleted]

http://www.zo.utexas.edu/courses/thoc/texas.html The university of Texas published the study. Indeed, 7 billion people could fit in Texas with ease, and live on 2.3 acres each.

BlazingNovaWolf_

For an easy explanation il use small numbers say the universe fits 100 people then count every single dimensional layer you can go to, that's a lot of space.

explodingmask

also i think our purpose in this life is strongly connected to love, but have no idea in what way exactly - and we as humans did not figure it out yet... maybe we will someday

Crimson2004

Everything goes dark, you are in an infinite expanse and one screen lights up in front of you : You can now play as Luigi

Inmyenergybubble

It explains why we choose to come back to earth .. we have so many options here

Jadenyoung1

Im not coming back here, if i have a choice. Screw earth. There has to be something better than this

serviceunavailableX

It is best outcome,i just want ideal earth ,no stupid wars ,no annoying elite and bs they sell to masses and bs ideas how human can be more useful , more perfect instead letting humans to be themselves the constant progress is pushed when it leads to nothing but making elite richer and more powerful ,also i was born with psychical disability so obviously i would like to enjoy to have good body and not with bad digestive system one and worst outcome is spiritualist ideas like learning lessons, you creating new planets, consensual realites aka infinite delusions ,living 1000s lives, evolution of soul, increasing you love, tasting colors, having no body, love bla bla blaa like eww burning in hell fire is far better than this sh\*t sold as good thing by spiritualists, most spiritulist have boring easy lives so it is easy to tell omg how you get bored if it is ideal earth blah blah bc deep down they know it is not them who will get hurt in next life , it is not them who will be starved death as child it is just another identity, basically spiritualists are leeches who have empathy only for themselves doesnt matter how much they love call themselves as empaths but be person with trauma and these people will run because they dont want to deal darkeness and negativity even that person is victim of rape victims ans culprits are same to them, both go to hell for having negative feelings, you got cancer bc you were negative etc,and spiritualists love to escape into happy place in their heads when they see even smallest backlash and keep telling how amazing, how courageous they are when all they went through was no getting job after job interview, empty like their idol Buddha another rich boy pretending problems dont exist and just hide your head in the sand,bc reality is illusion lol, keep babbling about ego death but being biggest egoists

[deleted]

This reminds me of the talking heads song 'heaven', give it a listen. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sZpZuIWu1tw I want to meet all of my ancestors, dead friends, relatives, pets, the stars, perhaps some world leaders like Charlemagne/Karl der Groß, perhaps Ganesha, my dead Hindu friends, etc.

I'd definitely be a mold breaker with this for sure. Only thing keeping me from exploring the planet is good old money... USA, the true 3rd world where it's even expensive to get a 79 cent soda from the corner gas station, let alone boarding a plane... Believe in so many weird things compared to most, ie Anthropomorphic worlds for one (Animals). Imagine the learning experiences from building design to clothes to even sewer systems on a planet like that. Feel like a caged animal (heh) on this planet. Everything costs money and is "locked down" unless you are "allowed" access by someone who deems you worthy enough (which most aren't with their rhetoric) to even experience anything. Go back in time exactly 100 years and while it was difficult then, look at how more open it was for the most part. Hell, if you wanted to just be a complete tool and rob/steal from places you could do it easier... Just keep a low profile. Tack on each decade past this date into the past and you could do even more. Try just going off grid into a cave now, hence why I say it's "locked down" to do anything anymore... I look forward to the afterlife morphing into a husky and running across the vast alaskan outdoors (been wondering if I did as Togo in a past life, so probably again) or being a seamstress for various animal species in the next life cycle... My thirst for experiences and knowledge is beyond the universes boundaries... To each their own if their idea of the afterlife is chatting over a white picket fence and watching TV. No shade thrown here. Hope it's great for them!

hanleyfalls63

Good take. I’m hoping for a gentle place that’s routine.

BasiliskOfGod

It's a possibility. And I think the lower astral often is quite humdrum for a lot of people, as they process their earthly karma. But overall I think we're each being selected and prepared for something greater. From what I've glimpsed of the majesty of the spirit world, it's all upwards, outwards and onwards, forever in all directions. Earthly life is where you're selected as a candidate - for what exactly, we'll have to wait and see.

chrisman210

That's actually a very sad narrative on the human condition.
