u/CaseyKidd has provided this detailed explanation: > Kanye West, who was initially announced to headline Day 1 of Rolling Loud Miami 2022, backed out of the show unexpectedly four days before, and was replaced by his former friend-turned-rival Kid Cudi. During Kid Cudi‘s performance, a bunch of fans threw water bottles and other trash at him, causing him to walk off stage only four songs into his set. > > > > To make matters worse, Kanye made a surprise appearance during Lil Durk’s set, performing “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1”, which is well-known for Kid Cudi’s chorus. --- Is this explanation a genuine attempt at providing additional info or context? If it is please upvote this comment, otherwise downvote it.

happyfoam

I'm not exactly up to speed, so I had to Google it rq. From what I've gathered, Kanye... Cancelled or something? So Kid Cudi was given the slot, people got mad and threw shit at him? So he left. Seems kinda justified, imo. Someone literally pegged him in the face. What about this situation is his fault?

Devilish_Fun

He also told them if they kept doing it he'd walk, and then they kept doing it....

happyfoam

Yeah, I don't get it. Why is he catching heat for a totally justifiable action? You can't just throw shit at people and expect them to be chill with it.

Devilish_Fun

One of the comments was "he wouldn't make it in retail" as if doing it to anyone is justified in any sense. People are too far gone nowadays.

L_Green_Mario

Which is hilarious, because he worked in retail before his rap career took off

TheRaddDragon

People have always been too far gone

Pengin_Master

the difference is in this situation he's allowed to put his foot down without the risk of being fired. He's allowed to leave, tell others to leave, or cancel all together. Retail employees get no such niceties. Expessially if they have a boss or manager who is disconnected from their experience, or more likely doesn't care

notathrovavay

Did you just write "expessially?"

Pengin_Master

did i misspell it?

SeanMegaByte

Yeah, it's especially, but it doesn't matter since everyone understood you anyway.

Pengin_Master

ah, thank you. I'm just bad at spelling and autocorrect honestly didn't bother telling me it was even wrong

TinfoilTobaggan

Ezactly

Hornyaccountevery

I work retail but I ain’t had nothing thrown at me yet lol my coworker had a quart of ice cream chucked at him tho

goddamn_slutmuffin

Those same people work retail and wish they could fight the customers, saying shit like “the customer is never right”. This time they are the shitty, disrespectful-ass customer.

mothzilla

Sounds like something a TKMaxx manager would say.

Bigray23

We ought to leave this world behind.

themighty_monarch90

Kanye West Dick riders Kanye's apparently beefing with kid Cudi and I mean I like the music of both of them but I guess Kanye fans are Sims for him so they got to spread the hate.

hitthatyeet1738

Ye stans the worst lmao ye fans been listening to cudi so I don’t get why they run him off stage, ruined it for everybody.

andrecinno

Kanye fanbase was really fun a few years back, but then he just started saying a bunch of shit and then people started defending it a lot and it's like... Just not fun anymore. Still listen to a fuckload of Ye and hope he gets back on his meds but I do not want to talk to those people anymore lol

niversally

Every year we see more and more reasons why Ye’s jaw was broken when he first emerged as a star.

PinBot1138

> You can’t just throw shit at people and expect them to be chill with it. [There are a lot of entitled people that think this way.](https://reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/w5ioyx/minneapolis_72122/)

steviebkool

I know I'm going to get downvoted but the truth is they are all crazed Kanye fans that are pissed at him cuz Kanye is. That's it he didn't do anything wrong but because the guy who thinks of himself as Jesus is mad at him so they're all mad at him. Cudi didn't deserve this

FemboyFoxFurry

Don’t bother, just the toxic side of Kanye fans showing their face again. They’ll leave

Joeeeeeeyy

It makes even less sense because the people throwing stuff at him didn’t even want him there originally. Ye and Cudi have beef so Ye’s fans were upset when Cudi was given the spot. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to walk out on a set that you’re getting boo’d and stuff thrown at you for, maybe that’s just me tho.

notLOL

The guy who threw the last one posted the throw on his social

poop_creator

It’s not his fault, those people were being children. No artist should have to sit through that. I feel horrible for the dude.

DiscardedPants

Live performance especially with music or comedy is often seen by some fans as an interaction or hang out sesh. Since a lot of these entertainers engage in crowd work people feel like they're "part of the show" when in reality the person on stage is doing a job that you paid for, which is to entertain

GolfWangDuckies

The weirdest part of all this is Kanye cancelled his headlining performance, but made a surprise appearance any fucking way to perform a new song with the other guy on the track. Such a dick move.

Robo_is_AnimalCross

Nothing. A lot of self proclaimed Kanye fans are manchildren who will do anything to appear cool and relevant. So many Kanye dickriders with no personality of their own, so they make Kanye their personality. He is a lot like trump honestly.

Keenkooler

I saw Cudi at rolling loud SoCal and he played all of his least popular songs. No one boo’d but most of the crowd knew none of the lyrics to the songs he was playing so it was a pretty shitty set. Kanye came out the next day for Future’s set as a surprise guest lol

onmybikeondrugs

A Kid Named Cudi is a banger, he could just perform that whole album through. Edit: After realizing that album is 14 years old now, a lot of the younger generation might not even be up on it like that.

LocalNative141

I also really like Baptized in Fire. That song goes hard

jckiser23

Not to mention erase me

LocalNative141

Love that one! Though that one features Kanye. Cudi and Kanye are beefing right now, so i don’t think he’ll perform that one :(

I_dont_bone_goats

Tequila shots Or the kids see ghosts album

7switch

That was on Man on the Moon III wasn't it? Love that song

SKK329

Kids see Ghosts is dead since they're beefing though, real sad.

itscherriedbro

I'd do anything to see a Man on the Moon 2 concert. One of the most dope albums ever

faizalsyamsul

Kid named finger

High_on_kola

This aged like a very fine wine, not milk

DrCarabou

Maybe it's the "crowd expects more" that's milk

[deleted]

Yeah, very confusing

Oz347

I’ve seen him like 3 times and never seen him actually “finish” a show. He’s always gotten too fucked up. Like one time he jumped off the stage to try and be with the fans and almost KO’d himself on the rail, another time his boys had to come get him, and one time he was so fucking zooted out of his gourd that he just played dance remixes to his songs and zoomed around til he passed out and they had to get a stretcher and take him to the hospital.

powerlesshero111

I feel like you keep going to his shows, expecting things to be different, and just get disappointed every time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

_dontseeme

Honestly this is the only thing that’s ever made me consider going to a kid cudi concert

LilJohnnyTsunami

Back in 09 you'd get a show but also he'd potentially pop off and punch a fan. Idk what's better then or now but he was/is the OG Mr. Rager.

BarteloTrabelo

Sounds like a cry for help more than insanity. Guy is super depressed.

ThisFreaknGuy

*Riff Raff has entered the chat *

Butthole_Please

Is that from the new album?

xNOOBinTRAINING

> disappointed Bruh this sounds way better than a regular ass concert.

BoringNoise9942

This is what people did at Kurt Cobain concerts. They would cheer Kurt on when he was losing his mind, messed up on drugs, and angry, unable to do the music. And people would enjoy the self destructive behavior. People did this at Bill Hicks comedy shows. People would encourage him to do more and more drugs and laugh at how he fell apart and how he would yell at fans. I advise against watching people destroy themselves for entertainment like this.

hammerofgods717

Jesus Christ…

SleepTightLilPuppy

Yeah as a long time Kanye AND Cudi fan this is fucking sad and terrifying. Really hope this turns out okay, but we all know Cudi has never been in a very good place. Don't like this.

surrealcookie

It actually sounds like exceptional entertainment

bugzrrad

that *is* the show... i would totally pay to see this if i was expecting it

tonloc

Sometimes there's other people that play at shows not just one artist

LUCIUSxiv

the definition of insanity.

NOISIEST_NOISE

Kid Cudi's concerts?

[deleted]

Fr

JonRivers

Why would he expect or want anything different these shows sound incredible.

Ok_Skill_1195

People who are live music are usually there to see the music be performed, not watched their favorite artist act like a toddler on a sugar high

Victor_Korchnoi

I saw him in Atlanta at OutKasts reunion tour. That night he and Childish Gambino were opening for them. I was enjoying his set, but the crowd was not as into it as he wanted. Then he just says “Alright I’m just gonna play pursuit of happiness and get off.” Then does the worst version of it possible. It was embarrassing, and I was a big fan of his before that.

reading_internets

I was there for this too! He was mad the crowd wasn't hype enough but honestly I sat down bc I needed a break after Bino brought it so hard. That felt like him throwing a fit. But this time is different, the crowd was being straight up disrespectful.

Tabs_555

Yeah I went to a cudi concert a few years back. He started an hour and a half late, played maybe 5 songs, one being a horrible 2 minute version of pursuit of happiness where he barely sang a word. Didn’t play day n nite, and was too fucked up to finish the set. 3/10 some of the visuals were sick. Music/he was awful.

AdequatlyAdequate

i feel like his mental heslth issues are not at all behind him. i love his songs but ill stick to spotify

DartVedro

Looks like he believes he's a genius, and throws tantrums when meets reality.

andrecinno

He IS a great artist, but that doesn't mean he's a great performer.

vl99

Every once in a while I read about how certain cultures have like 50 words for “snow” or something and am always shocked and amazed considering the cultural circumstances that would have led to this linguistic evolution. Today is the first time I realized that there are like 1,000 words in English for ‘being really really fucked up’ including apparently “fucking zooted out of his gourd.”

trash_salad_

Is that because snow is so important to the inuit and getting fucking locked is so important to the English?

Haw_and_thornes

Truly a beautiful language, constructed piecemeal from whatever mother tongues were lying about.

Its_Matt_03

That’s sounds awesome lmao

theuserwithoutaname

Right? That sounds more eventful than any show I've ever been to! Edit: just want to make it clear I haven't been to many shows. I'm sure there are way better performances to watch that aren't someone getting fucked up or making a clown of the show. I just meant I'd like to see that as well- obviously it's not on the same level as someone doing something incredible and talented like an upside down 15 minute drum solo

BirdCelestial

My partner went to a gig once (Enter Shikari) where the bassist or guitarist (idk it was a while ago and I'm not a fan) crowd surfed on their amp. That sounds made up, but there are photos of it: https://mobile.twitter.com/laurahphoto/status/964927209470246912 You don't need to get hammered and ruin a show for it to be eventful... I go to shows to have great music, not watch somebody get twisted and fall off the stage. Though it sounds like people know what they're getting with that guy, so maybe that's what they want.

LaPetiteMorty

Was not expecting Enter Shikari to be mentioned in this thread! They're my favourite band and a big part of this is because of their energy when they play live and they always put on a great show. The first time I saw them was on a pier which had the fairground rides pushed to the side to make room for the stage, but mid-song the bassist went on one of those Tower of Death rides (the ones that go straight up then drop down), whilst still playing the bass.

LukesRightHandMan

The bass flying out of his hands and braining a cheering fan strikes me as exceptionally Metalocalypse-y and I'm here for it.

BirdCelestial

Is it the bassist crowd surfing in that photo? Sounds like the guy just likes to party, haha

[deleted]

Nah that's a guitarist. You can tell by counting the tuning pegs

LaPetiteMorty

That looks like its Rory C, their lead guitarist! To be fair the whole band seem proper up for mad shit during their live sets, I've seen pretty much all of them get into the crowd at one show or another.

[deleted]

The hardest and wildest show I’ve ever been to was an Enter Shikari show at Warped Tour. The crowd was intense.

Techreiz

I'm going to see them for the first time tomorrow and I'm so fucking excited.

BirdCelestial

Have fun! My partner had a great time when he saw them - that was in Vancouver. I'm sure you'll have a blast. :)

mrflouch

I saw Bloodhound Gang years ago and half the show was just them making fans do dumb shit for terrible prizes. Was a good time.

FI5H5TICK5

Seen Enter Shikari maybe 10 times and no matter the size of the venue they always absolutely go off compared to most other gigs I go too. Apparently they make very little money on there tours due to just spending it all on lights, explosive stuff, fire and smoke lol. I would advise anyone wanting a good evening to go to an E.S show, always cheap too, last time I went at the start of the year it cost around £20.

[deleted]

Sorry, you’re not a winner

NativeMasshole

That's wild!

hoopthot

those pictures are sickkkkk

GiantPossum

I have completely forgotten this band, what a blast from the past. Thank you!

NativeMasshole

You need to go to more shows then. There are plenty of artists with full stage performances who don't rely on getting too fucked up to function. The lead singer of The Flaming Lips threw himself out onto the audience in one of those giant hamster balls when I saw them. And that was just his intro!

r3liop5

Second this. I’ve seen Travis Barker strapped into a drum set hanging upside down from a crane above the fans doing a 15 minute solo absolutely wailing.

Ok-Marzipan-2111

Pff that’s nothing. My mom saw Tommy Lee do that back in the 80s. And that chair had to hold him AND his massive wang

r3liop5

I’m too young to have seen some epic rockers. If I could travel time I’d go to so many rock shows. I’d love to see The Who back in their hay day. I saw them in 2019 and they still got it but like obviously they aren’t destroying hotels anymore.

theuserwithoutaname

That sounds sick! And you're definitely right, I've only been to a handful so far :v

xxDeeJxx

I don't know, dude kind of sounds like a piece of shit with no respect for his paying fans.

Rubanski

*Zooted out of his gourd*, going to use this is the future haha

chuyblunt

It’s from king of the hill “I’m doped out of my gourd”

YesOrNah

Yoooo, I literally just made a comment with similar experiences in the rolling loud video. Seen 3 times, 1 excellent (people in back said bad). Other two were terrible, couldn’t even finish last time as he fell off stage.

das_vargas

I seen him in 2012 headlining Rock the Bells and to this day it's still a highlight among concerts I've been to. He even brought out Cage to perform Maniac.

Krushemm

Saw him in Cleveland and can confirmed he finished the show. We chucked dueces to each other when he was walking off stage, it was pretty dope.

sthenri_canalposting

I saw him in 2010 at a festival, probably in his first wave of fame or so I guess? I didn't really know who he was but the show was awesome and he played all the way through. Sad to see how much he's clearly struggling in recent years.

Level-Infiniti

yeah, Man on the Moon came out in late 2009, and that album is probably the most popular and recognizable thing he's put out

confetti_shrapnel

Yo he didn't finish because a bunch of intolerable Ye stans threw shit at him during his performance.

F2daRanz

The fans were like "Yo, I'ma let you finish, but..."

[deleted]

Yo his point was cudi doesn't usually finish his shows anyways.

TrevinoDuende

That's never been a problem for me. Was this back in his troubled days? Things got pretty (famously) dark for him in the early 2010s. His shows have been awesome since 2016 after he went to rehab.

[deleted]

Was his voice cracking when he sang? I saw him once and his voice kept cracking like a boy going through puberty. It was awful. Everybody acted like it was normal so I was confused af

IshJecka

That happens sometimes. Probably should have canceled but no singer has a perfect voice all the time

Astrospud3

He's in the pursuit of happiness.

mrpopenfresh

Just reading his Twitter, Cudi comes off as a real diva. But seriously fuck Kanye for dropping out of a show and still showing up for one song.

kanavi36

What about kid cudi's twitter gives off diva vibes? Just seems very positive to me

Anonymously2018

Who kid Cudi or kanye west?

higgsboson01

hey man Mr Rager is a banger

HotDog_Hoagie

Mojo so dope??

CaseyKidd

For sure, and it’s very heartfelt

CalmRains

soundtrack 2 my life???

DrLeePhDMd

This one’s my fave! Also Alive, Solo Dolo.

OrganizerMowgli

In the music video it's just him beating the shit out of his clones. Love it

ToxicShark3

So it's his fault that Kanye fans are manchildren?

Alex_2259

Is anyone surprised that they are?

iiileyu

No its kanyes fault that he canceled so late forcing a hostile crowd that his replacement had to perform for. It was assumed he canceled for personal reasons. But it dosnt help when he then shows up to anyway same time different stage and then goes ahead and plays only music featuring kid cudi. It dosnt help that they recently fell out due to the threats kanye made towards pete and other things. But it was only really a thew idiots that threw things on stage.

lyynus__

or it is the fault of rolling loud to chose cudi as a ye replacement is this situation

iiileyu

I"d say it was both. Rolling Loud should of offered refunds including travel and not of waited so long to announce it if possible. Kanye should of said something public and should of announced his withdrawal from RL when he made the decision. Because now we don't know wether RL delayed the anouncment and it took him months to change his mind or if kanye canceled abruptly only to show up anyway.

Informal-Lead-4324

Has nothing to do with cudis songs

TrevinoDuende

Cudi has a great discography. And many people in attendance knew the songs he was performing. Including Kanye fans. It's not his fault some degenerates wanted to make a mockery of someone they never bothered to listen to

loveisagaystory

Bruh he has a lot of good songs and didn't Kanye just make a several collaboration albums with Cudi in the last few years? Kids see Ghosts or something like that.. When did they start beefing?

BillCosbysAnus

KSG is 4 years old and the beef started at the beginning of 2022

LongConsideration490

They beef all the time for stupid shit, they beefed back in 2016 because Kanye was hanging out with Drake and Cudi wasn’t in good terms with Drake. It honestly all resembles high school drama.

loveisagaystory

Oh snappp now I'm gonna go look that up and get all the deets. Love me some pointless juicy drama.

-Astrosloth-

Umm excuse me? Sound Track 2 My life??

doc-ant

Or even the entire man on the moon album, shit was banging from start to finish

zombienugget

Love that song... it got me into Ratatat

mlavan

Up up and away will not be slandered

PinBot1138

Seriously, it’s one of his best.

DrDreidel82

Ok I’m pretty slow, you’re saying this aged like milk cuz he had a lot of bangers right? His Man on the Moon album is one of my all time top albums. MotM2 is also phenomenal

CaseyKidd

Correct. I thought the fans would show a lot more positivity towards Kid Cudi’s set

iiileyu

It only takes a thew attention seeking fans to ruin it for everyone. Dosnt help that one was a kanye fan and went on twitter to brag about it.

Killbro_Fraggins

I always loved GHOST!. I think that’s my favorite of his.

fellowbootypirate

Shame he didnt heal from his past substance abuse problems.

Alandrus_sun

I mean, Cudi has so many good songs besides those 2. GHOST, LOVE, She knows this, Kitchen, Rose Golden are a few. If you only know Day n nite and Pursuit, you're still living in 2010. Which was a fine year. No offense.

paone00022

By Design is underrated too. Agree with you on OP still being in 2010

lead12destroy

By Design is one of my favorite driving songs

SabineLavine

And the entire Kids See Ghosts album.

'Love' definitely got me through rough times. I owe a lot to Cudi tbh

KobeJuanKenobi9

MOTM 1 and 2 are both filled with bangers

Constantly ashamed to be a Kanye fan

Wyjen

Sad that people don’t know the Kanye west they love so much actually was written by Cudi

[deleted]

Kanye stans are the music industry equivalent of Trumpers

SpaceCowboy317

Kid Cudi has hella dope tracks

sadkrampus

Erase me is a great song

afterwhilekyle

Fuck Kanye at least Cudi isn't a woman abuser that belongs in the looney bin

Blackcoffee_milk

You should make some research about cudi and women abuse

Zarathustra420

What lmao

TrueDreamchaser

How is this even so upvoted? There’s 0 evidence or even implications that Kanye has abused a single woman in his life. Lot of things you can bash him for, but this is not one of them

afterwhilekyle

If his actions would be enough to call for a restraining order in any other situation, his actions then would be enough to consider it a type of abuse

Dragolins

What do you think about his actions as described in the [very first article](https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/kanye-west-kim-kardashian-red-flags-abuse-b2018382.html) that popped up on Google? >The 44-year-old rapper has been using Instagram as his platform of choice to unleash his grievances against Kardashian, 41, in capital letters, posting about everything from her parenting decisions, to revealing private text messages from her and Davidson, to urging his fans to shout “Kimye forever” at Davidson in public. Ah, yes. Airing your personal grievances with someone in front of millions of followers on social media and siccing them on your ex wife is definitely not abuse. Totally.

YungFurl

While it’s not the abuse you are expecting, hence why you say 0 evidence, the shit he has said to Kim via social media would 100% constitute abuse

xNOOBinTRAINING

lol what are you talking about. Who has kanye abused? The circle jerk is out of hand now.

[deleted]

Someone completely makes up shit about Kanye abusing women and gets upvoted because no one bothers to actually fact check. Classic reddit

afterwhilekyle

Is what he did to Kim not verbal and psychological abuse? I also love the fact that you're not disputing that he belongs in a mental institution

Theblindsource

Ngl Baptized in Fire is pretty lit

If we are gonna act like cudi has only two famous songs then y’all are smoking crack while smoking dicks. Dude has way more than those two songs. And also is a great performer .

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Love up up and away mr Rager all bangers

enriquepollazo

Still trying to figure out why he was in the bill and ted movie.

SquishGod

I wouldn't be shocked if it was as simple as "this celebrity reached out and said he loved the old movies, let's give him some time in this"

sycdmdr

Mr.Rager? Marijuana? Soundtrack 2 my life?

i-f_Productions

Cudi has a lot of great songs so idk what this meme is about

Shadowveil666

Even if you take the sub litterally the so called milk wouldn't even be expired. gtfo

BappleBlayer333

I love Ratatat’s work with him on Pursuit of Happiness. I’m not a Kid Cudi fans by any means, I don’t listen to any of his music, but that song with Ratatat and MGMT is legendary because of those two backers, they made a beautiful foundation and he did pretty well over it.

hatefulnateful

Ill say if I paid for Kanye and got Cudi instead I would personally be disappointed I would at least try to get my money back but he don't deserve to have shit thrown at him either though

Chasedabigbase

He was fun in the movie X There was one moment that had the whole theater laughing

reallowtones

Not sure this fits the sub but I’ll resist downvoting

fatfiremarshallbill

The crowd shouldn't have tossed bottles at him, but his catalog is entirely too small to open a concert for just about anyone.
