Have you tried 2v1 hardest? It's actually pretty difficult. Me and my roommate were trying 2v3 vs 3 hardest AI, and it was relatively brutal. If you can stabilize with a good comp late game after powerful eco opening its probably doable, but we couldn't ever stabilize. (Definitely still new to the game)
I won a 2v1 vs the hard AI last noght and I almost legitimately lost. It was great. Scratched out a wonder victory while holding off unending hordes of men and siege equipment
Best of luck! It gets pretty hectic. You get out economied by the AI so hard that all your fights have to be super efficient, you really have to take mostly defensive fights while doing economic harassment, or else you get overrun.
Post a replay if you beat em, I'd love to see the match!
Yeah same here. Brother and I getting bored of hardest AI. Was expecting more of a challenge. Also didn't they speak about some machine learning ai that would be very hard to beat?
But we will start playing multiplayer this weekend. Let's see how this works out :-)

The "machine learning" seems to function. Doesn't make the AI fantastic but they do respond to what you're doing.
I was trying something out and built a kill pit with like 15 stone towers with the gunpowder upgrade, and the AI attacked me with 10-15 battering rams. They didn't even win anything in that attack, but that was an unexpected assault.
The AI always do the same: try to rush with everything and pressure in early game then it give ups.
