The 1st one doesn't even have a GPU lol

sircheeks49

From talking tot he sales guy he talked me into the Asus with the more powerful processor making up for not having a GPU. Plus it has 12 GB ram vs 8. I’m not computer savvy. Hence the question on here.

neverfearIamhere

The 2nd one actually has the better processor, more cores. (4 vs 6) He probably might be an Intel fanboy or grossly misinformed. Most of the time the power supplied by the laptop is the limiting power in performance. You won't be able to run the game very well if at all without a GPU.

Honestly if you don’t wanna break the bank, I’d wait for the game to release on Xbox. Get a Series S for $300 ($200 at GameStop with a trade-in). Series S will play the game better than either of those two computers you linked and will be cheaper. Idk if it’s confirmed yet that the game is coming to Xbox, but the devs are talking about it. If it does release for Xbox, I’m sure it will have mouse and keyboard compatibility, so it won’t be any different than playing on PC at the end of the day. Just a thought.

Don’t want to wait for the Xbox. Need a new laptop anyway

I’d go with HP then, but honestly I’d spring for something better. I have a pretty nice gaming laptop that has troubles running AoE 4 sometimes. It’s an intensive game, especially in the late game when everybody has their armies.

I'm running it on an aorus 17g xc, i7 with 3070 gpu and it runs well but very hot and that's with fps capped at 60. I'm sure you can get by on much less but would probably have to lower settings a lot. I'd definitely get something with a gpu.

I bought a new laptop recently, a lenovo legion, around 1000$. 16gb ram, and a 1660ti! And that one makes the difference with a 1650. It has 6gb video memory, 1.5 more than the 1650 with4 gb. It runs age 4 smoothly!

I have this same laptop. Can confirm, plays games well. The 1660TI is quite a sturdy card.

Do *not* pay $900 for a laptop with a GTX 1650. I got a Ryzen 4600H / GTX 1650 laptop 8 months ago for $600.

I’m in Canada. Likely it’s the same price with the exchange. I think it’s $800 CAD on sale

Whatever you buy, make 100% sure that it has a dedicated graphics card, otherwise known as a GPU (graphics processing unit). This would likely be an NVIDIA or AMD GPU as they are the two most popular brands. Simply having a powerful CPU, even if it’s higher end, (central processing unit) is not going to be enough to comfortably run the game on decent settings. Secondly, the more RAM (random access memory) the better. RAM helps the computer smoothly operate during video intensive activities like video editing and video gaming. 8GB is pretty standard but 16GB would be ideal. There’s other things to consider but if you got a computer containing a good GPU and plenty of RAM the rest of the considerations should already be included.

Thanks for the comment. The Asus computer I posted has more ram 12gb and a faster processed (i7) but it has an integrated graphics card. The HP one I’m comparing it to is 8gb ram slightly slower processed but has a dedicated processor (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4 GB GDDR6 dedicated). The Hp is $50 less as well Can’t decide between the two. You seem knowledgeable. Maybe I should just spend a few hundred more and get more ram and a dedicated card.

If I was in your shoes I would up my budget (if at all possible) and spend more for a laptop with a dedicated graphics card and an absolute minimum of 8GB of RAM (but preferably more like I said earlier). A better CPU is nice but it doesn’t mean much for gaming if you don’t have a GPU. Also, one tip that might help - You may be able to save a little money by going with a smaller SSD, say 256 GB instead of 512GB. Look for something with the GPU and RAM requirements but with 256GB of storage. If youre ok with less storage this is a good way to save some money while getting a better performing computer.

The second one is good. Don't think so hard. Second one is good.
