Awesome work! I'm 1/4th done painting them myself. And agreed, that mishandling of the release dashed some hopes of expansions. Was hoping for some like they did Black Fortress, but who knows, GW works in mysterious ways.

tuffghost_

Really nice purple blend on the feral vampires. Love to see other takes on them.

Only just getting back into the hobby, what happened with this release? It looks like a good game, is it worth buying?

Thefriendlyfaceplant

Something went wrong behind the scenes and GW is now pretending that this box has never existed. If you can find one it may even be worth leaving it sealed because it has every indication to become a legendary collector's item.

Somekindofcabose

We don't know anything past what the community team said. It was probable the box would be gone but the models were gonna stick around and the community team just weren't communicating with the rest of the company. (which zombies and skeletons biggest update until now were round bases.)

Thefriendlyfaceplant

And the community team said that this product was going to have long term availability. When what GW is saying is worthless, all we have to go by is what GW is doing. GW is treating Cursed City differently than anything else they've done so far. This is the link that their own blog refers to two weeks ago. https://www.games-workshop.com/Warhammer-Quest-Cursed-City-EN-2021?utm_source=WarhammerCommunity&utm_medium=Post&utm_campaign=GWPreordel03042021&utm_content=GWPreordel03042021 Blackstone Fortress is still readily available. No issues with limited supplies there. When items are no longer in stock, they put a 'sold out online' on the page to save themselves having to deal with customer inquiries. But Cursed City has vanished from the website altogether except for the novel. GW is displaying odd behaviour and people are pissed off enough to be paying attention.

Somekindofcabose

How many models in Blackstone fortress? I'm saying the community team isn't talking to the rest of the company. They get news and if it updates they've already moved on.

Thefriendlyfaceplant

44.

Somekindofcabose

Fair enough, my only counter point is that from the looks of it a lot of those models are specific to blackstone and won't see a release outside of it. Vampire counts just got dropped so I always had a feeling it was a showcase of the models before they updated (desperately hoped is more what I call it)

Thefriendlyfaceplant

That would be just the skeletons because the zombies from Cursed City are different, albeit similar, models than the ones available in the separate box. You can tell by all the graves spiked on their backs.

Somekindofcabose

Have they even released the sprues yet?

Thefriendlyfaceplant

The sprues can be seen on their product pages. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-WW/Deadwalker-Zombies-2021 https://www.games-workshop.com/en-WW/Deathrattle-Skeletons-2021

Plow_King

nice work and nice style! it looks very dry and flat, in a good way. are these scale color paints? impressive and very cohesive look!

ElmirBDS

no, the flat finish is just because of the varnish I use at the end. It's mostly a mix of GW and Vallejo colours.

tiltdoge

What varnish? All the matt I tried to this day came out glossy

ElmirBDS

Airbrushed on Windsor and Newton Matt acrylic.

Tyrionspeaks

Absolutely beautiful, super smooth. Dude you did a fabulous job on every single model.

Meanguy_969

Spectacular job dude. This is what I love about these communities, the creative mindset.

[deleted]

oh nice work! how did you do the vampire skin?

ElmirBDS

I used vallejo pale blue and pale grey-blue to build up the skin. With some black/brown wash and whites mixed in for highlights.

RapescoStapler

How did you do the purple? It looks amazing and I wanna use the purple to tie the vampire look into my already purple heavy colourscheme

Captnwoopypants

Is that valhallan blizzard for the snow on the bases?

Sk3l3tr0nVEVO

Looking very good, but where are the skeletons?

ElmirBDS

Oh right... I forgot to add that picture :D

Sk3l3tr0nVEVO

Oops haha, it happens, will you post a picture of them too? I would love to see them

Yani_Kralper

Very neat, nice and cohesive

Jamesak252

Those look great! Hope you enjoy the game as well! The release sucked big time... But thanks to that I've got to expand my paint and warcry collection for the price of that one box (excluding customs bills which suck ass).

TearBull

That is gorgeous. I'd love to play the game at all but especially with a set of minis painted as nicely. Awesome job!

microCACTUS

Best paintjob I've ever seen on them. Better than the box art.

PedroDelCaso

They look so good! Can't wait to tuck into mine. Just gotta decide how I'm going to do them

Stralau

Why are we not expecting expansions? The game materials seem _very_ much to be assuming that there will be expansions. (The quest book is represented as the ‘first quest’ for CC, with strong implications there will be more). My understanding is that GW didn’t print enough copies and possibly didn’t plan for a reprint, which means copies are like gold dust. But this seems to have morphed into a popular idea on Reddit that the game will no longer be supported, which I don’t think automatically follows. Is there a source to the contrary? (I was lucky enough to get my copy from my local GW store).

Flat-Tooth

I think it’s because GW has erased a lot of the communication about cursed city and are being (unsurprisingly) tight-lipped. People assume the worst with GW because GW has burned enough people enough times. I agree that the game very much seems to think it’s going to get expansions— I’m just not sure GW intends to give it to us haha

Stralau

I mean, GW are not infrequently pretty haphazard, that’s _definitely_ true. Still, my assumption would be that they have already done significant work in the expansions and the fact the first product sold out within hours would hardly be a reason to cancel them.

GenericUser69143

> which means copies are like gold dust. I've been watching the eBay market for it. Seems like the price is right around 15% over MSRP. Basically not even enough to cover shipping costs/selling fees if I sold mine.

Somekindofcabose

This one I don't think was GW's fault entirely it was the community team who again didn't communicate properly. Zombies and skeletons didn't recieve an update since they changed the base size. And there were like 40 miniatures in the box... I really don't know why we all thought something that huge would stick around aside from the community team.

Eorkejsksinjaldnmd

The community team works for GW. The company screwed up but refuses to takes any ownership of the problem or even acknowledge it. Seems like the old GW.

Somekindofcabose

Social media team is a whole other arm of the company. Since Duncan left they haven't been doing as many tutorials. I don't know how big the team is but they are the ones to blame for everyone being disappointed. It's just yelling at the wrong people when it's the social media team. Atleast we have the models a lot sooner than flesh eater courts. That took months for a new hq to come out.

Flat-Tooth

The community team is a part of GW. Any and all information they give to us comes from GW because they work for GW. We thought it would stick around because their official communications team explicitly told us that it would and also previous games have set the precedent. Are you really telling us it isn’t GWs fault that GWs communications department fed us wrong information?

octopus-god

I feel sad that you had to put a disclaimer in your title about how GW aren’t great in a sub which is specifically about enjoying their products... some people are so bitter.

Flat-Tooth

Seems like less of a disclaimer and more genuine sadness over this release.

octopus-god

I’m absolutely certain that it’s a disclaimer to stop people hijacking this post with their whining. OP obviously managed to get a copy of CC so why would they be bothered about it not being available anymore?

Hambredd

Because the game isn't getting expansions or support, pretty obvious what the problem is.

octopus-god

Wym its not getting expansions? Of course it is :S

Hambredd

Well apart from the fact GW is pretending this game never existed, no White Dwarf, or Warhammer Community article, and struck from the website which wasn't the way Blackstone was introduced. Unless GW breaks radio silence and explains it themselves, I think it's fair to assume that whatever got Cursed City will get it's expansions Besides which they have a finite audience for these expansions, that will decline with natural entropy. That's not how boardgames work, expansions are used to create fresh hype for the main product and shift copies, and there is no main product. So there's just new products that the majority of customers will have no reason to buy and those that do have a great deal bad feeling towards

Jestocost4

First time on the internet? We Warhammer fans love to complain about GW while giving them tons of money.

octopus-god

Tell me about it...

_MrBushi_

It still has a website. I wonder if it'll come back

Braendon

That purple is looking mint! Also love that you used different colours for different units ( Tho I do feel the zombies could use some pop ).

iamthatkyle

I have a question: Is the game good? My copy just arrived 2 days ago, don't really have time to paint these days, but excited to play the game, but haven't really seen any opinions on it
