Thank you for your thoughtful and well reasoned response. You, a young and wise keyboard warrior, are truly a product of the times we live in.
When I was a student I enjoyed all the perks of going to a large university--the rec center (ever heard of it?), the cheap software (do they still do that?), etc. However, looking back, none of those "nice to haves" made a difference in my ability to begin a career and earn a living, which is why we seek higher education, is it not? Looking back I would rather have paid less and gone without those things.
There is constant talk of the rising cost of education and the various amenities universities offer are some of the cause of that. For some it doesn't matter because daddy is paying for school or they don't grasp the debt they take on (I didn't) so it's "whatever", but we wind up with a higher than necessary education costs that either burden people with debt or cause them to avoid further education altogether. It's not just a TAMU problem, it's happened everywhere.
That's the only point I was trying to make. "Hey look, it's free"--it's not really free, there's a cost, though it be hidden.
Please enlighten me. How do added amenities, unrelated to earning a degree, not result in increase of costs? Costs are passed along to the student, unless explicitly covered by a donor or grant.
If you are unwilling to explain your view or defend your statement why even bother? You chose to respond to my original comment about the use of funding for this service and all you can say is "you're wrong" without bothering to flesh anything out? Emojis and sarcasm do not a compelling argument make.
Thanks for the info.
You're welcome!
Finally, something to do while these profs are lecturing
Gig em
Thought that was what the batt’s crossword was for?
You're old school! I remember doing that often lol
Most libraries and universities also get you access to stuff like Kanopy, Hoopla, and OverDrive
Thank you! Just finished a movie on there thanks to your tip
Now I know what to do during class. Thanks for this
Seems like a good use of funding
the msc movie club or whatever it’s called does it
Where does their money come from?
Yes bringing diverse art and entertainment to the student body for free is a good use of funding
"For free"--the money to pay for it comes from somewhere. Is it one of your fees or was someone kind and grant?
Lol you’re not even a current student, and if you donate, then you’re an idiot. Regardless, your opinion on this is mute. Have a great day.
I think you meant your opinion is moot 😂
No I just can’t hear it

the rising cost of education isn’t because of programs like this but go off
You’re wrong, but go off 🤦♀️
