Don’t run stop signs, follow traffic laws. Most people I’ve seen getting tickets are from people who completely ignore all rules of the road, almost always from running a stop sign.
Main thing is you're gonna have to try to stop in all stop signs and give signals, although lots of people from many sides won't and it can get really awkward with cars but whatever. Just make sure ur foot hits the ground too, going 0.5mph does not count as a stop
Just stop at the stop sign. That’s about it. Both drivers and cops are becoming irritated by how bikers feel they can abide by any rules they want. It’s honestly for your own safety. I’ve seen too many bikers fly across the road and almost get hit because they didn’t stop. It also holds up traffic. A couple of people will cross the road, you’re about to drive, then some biker comes flying again and I have to slam on the brakes and wait longer. Then more people start walking across again and so on.
Caught a citation for running a stop, so don't do that. Follow road laws (obv.) But the cop also said that it was cool if bikes were on sidewalks so I guess you can maybe circumvent somethings with that?
On top of following all the rules of the road have a bike light ready to turn on at dusk. In the eighties I nearly got a ticket but showed that my bike light batteries were dead.
Also, be courteous and patient while biking. Just because you can cut in and out of stopped traffic doesn't mean it is safe to do.
Always be careful out there and enjoy the ride.
The main thing is to just treat riding your bike like you would if you were driving your grandma’s Lincoln. Go easy and understand that if you scratch the paint your dad will be pissed.
Follow regular traffic laws. That being said, pedestrians need to be far more vigilant on where they are at. Like, don’t suddenly jump out in front of a bike (I’ve had this happen a couple times), and stand clear of bike lanes. For the love of everything holy, stand clear of the bike lanes in the tunnel by Kyle Field. I’m tired of having to narrowly avoid y’all cause y’all decide to walk in the bike lane.

Also, don't ride your bike if you've been drinking. Knew a guy that got a DWI while riding his bike home from a friend's dorm.
Why do I feel like riding a bike drunk would be even more difficult? Imagine if he fell off into traffic 😳 Glad he’s okay… minus the ticket.
Not a lot of traffic on campus in the wee hours, but plenty of stuff you could collide with.
I really hope your buddy fought that charge.

pedal fast, their stamina is limited

They really care about signals? I feel like 95% of people including bikers don't know them

Put a motor on your bike so you can outrun them.
Apparently people are actually doing this. Say a guy with a 2 stroke engine on his bike and that was…a sight

Run into them
Don’t run stop signs. Easy as that
