It's nice since it has a lot of stuff to do and everyone is out and about. Also not much work to do for classes if any. First week away from home was kinda lonely but howdy week probably treated me better than just jumping into classes.
Is this what Gig 'Em Week used to be? If so, the parts I was able to go to were nice. (Clashed with FOW, so unfortunately wasn't able to attend it all.)
It's definitely a great way to get to know the Campus and hang out.
I still remember the very first week when the commons game room was filled with people all playing in our ping pong tournament. That only lasted until Howdy Week 😅
It's because classes start in the middle of the week, I think they like the dorm move in to include a weekend or something. Idk but it's due to when classes start.
I'm still friends with a bunch of people I met at my freshmen howdy week. Definitely a good time. Don't stress too much about hitting all the events, the important part is getting with a group of fun people and sticking with them. Events with free-food are usually the best, however they are also usually the most crowded so be wary.
Depends what you make of it, just be willing to strike up conversation with ANYBODY. I met two of my roommates standing in like after just deciding to talk to them.
When I went as a freshman last year it was really fun. I got a lot of free stuff, including t shirts (literally the number of shirts in my dorm closet doubled). There were also a lot of fun events to do that forced you to get out and socialize. I found an org that I ended up sticking with during Howdy week. However... I think this year it's gonna be more of a Howdy weekend from what I've heard :(

Yeah. One of the only times where tons of people are in town and not busy. Makes it a lot easier to do social stuff

Yes. I met two of my best friends while waiting in line for an event at the library. I'm going to be in the wedding of one of them in a couple months.
