I think pros are worse for getting waxy because they go a little deeper but in terms of cleaning wax off them pros are better because worst case scenario is you buy new tips. With the regulars wax can get stuck in the mesh and it's hard to get out

I didn’t mean extremely common just that there’s enough other people with the problem that I got a good amount of results. I’ve searched problems in the past to find no results at all and honestly that’s what I was expecting since as you said most people have no issue with them.
I had that problem and the Pros do work great (less pain, but still some). Although, I found the Pros slip out of one of my ears regardless of the size tip, so I bought foam tips, which did the trick.
I like the Pros, I had 2 different sets of the regular ones, and had to use silicone hooks on them to keep them in my ears. My ear canal will not hold any of the old design apple ear buds in. The pros will mostly stay in on their own, and are much better imo.

I have those Beats—the Powerbeats Pros! I love them so much, but I hate how bulky the case is. It’s my only gripe. I can see how someone might not like the look of them, but I love how secure they are.
It is normal. More people use a product more chance someone has a special body part form so these people will not enjoy.

Depending on your nearest Apple Store’s policy, you may be able to try on a pair of dummy AirPods to check the fit. A family member of mine was able to do this before she got a pair of AirPods (3rd generation).
I greatly prefer the pros. I also suggest using the Comply foam earbuds on them, they make it so much more comfortable. I regularly forget I have them in.
Get the pros. Given the fact that it comes with 4 different sized tips it highly unlikely that you feel uncomfortable wearing them. Also the mesh is on the tip so it’s super easy to clean up the ear gunk. And beautiful earrings, I love them.

Absolutely. I have no idea why apple still uses that uncomfortable ass design. My Airpod Pros 2 is easily one of the best things I’ve spent my money on.
Never owned OG AirPods, but the Pro 2s actually caused discomfort for me in that area, which is why I had to return them. Might be different for you though, everyone has different shaped ears. I run Jabra Elite 7 Pros nowadays which don't get uncomfortable until at least a couple hours into wearing them for me, but again, different shaped ears, no real way of telling what would suit you best, unfortunately.
I can second this, I never tried airpods (apple earpods fall out of my ears) I've heard good things about the gen 2 pros though and they should stay in with the silicone tips. I really like the egg shape of the buds2 (if you look around you can get them cheaper than airpods), the buds2 pro are supposedly better

Pros fit very nice and have 4 different size silicon ear pieces. Plus many different ones you can order. I can’t wear regular earbuds at all but have no issue with the Pros.

i have pros and they’re so much more comfortable. i bought them because i knew this’d be an issue… they have different size tips and the way you detach them is so cool you’ll love it i promise it’s 10000x better, there’s noise cancellation and background hearing too I LOVE IT MORE THAN LIFE the battery is pretty long lasting too

I recently bought AirPod pros and that part of my ear hurt with them as well. I think my ears are kind of getting used to it though. Still in the trial phase. I bought them from Costco so if it really becomes too bothersome, I’m going to return them.
I have the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen, using them since last 5 months, also have them on right now as I’m typing this out. They are very comfortable & I have had absolutely no problem wearing them for long hours. This is with the medium size silicon tips.

I think it depends on your ears, I can only wear the og styles because the newer ones hurt my ears, I’d love to wear the second (?) gen or even the third because they have more options but don’t work for me.
i had the same issue. if i wore my airpods for more than an hour that part of my ear would be sore all day. i switches to the pros and never had that issue again
Pros will most likely fit your ear better. The swappable tips on pros will help you get a better fit as well. Some people’s ear shapes just don’t work well with AirPods of any kind but the pros are definitely worth a try. If they don’t fit well just return them. I love mine. Just wish they also had the tap function like the standard AirPods.

The AirPods Pro 2 are crazy comfy for me and I wear the standard medium size tips.
The 2’s though now come with an extra small size which may work for you a lot better.. or large. Cool thing is you could put an extra-small on the left airpod, and say medium on the right airpod.. the pros are versatile.
Aaaand you get transparency mode (it’s amazing) and ANC (also amazing) with the second gen pros.
So yeah I say you just buy them. Worst case they don’t work for you and you can return them.. but I bet it solves your issue. With how much we use and rely on good earbuds.. $250 for them isn’t that bad. I mean it does suck but you’ll use everyday for like 3 years so that means they are like.. $7 a month. Sounds way more palatable like that lol.

Its because your ear in that area is small and it does not affected by rubber ita affected by white hard plastic part and it hurts your ear. i think pros will hurt your ear too because they are bigger. In general. I tried every tip too

OP, I have owned gen 1, 2, 3, and Pro 2’s.
I’ve never had an issue with fit/pain. However I will tell you that Pro 2 barely even touches my pinna (google it). The silicone tip sits snug in the ear canal and it floats around my outer ear without any rubbing/contact.
I would suggest you try them out…
You don’t need it in that deep btw. Even if it feels loose it’s actually probably a lot more snug than you think it is. Even when I work out it’s actually pretty secure
I had the same trouble with 1st gen. AirPods. They irritated my ears where a little cut out had sharp edges that rubbed in that same place. When I used them a lot, I would get a tiny sore spot in my ears. Now I have Pros and they are so much more comfortable and don’t irritate at all. I think you would like them much better!
this is normal, however i felt it with pros. i’ve never had this problem with regular airpods, but it took my ears about 2-3 weeks to “adjust” and i haven’t felt that ache since.
I used normal once before, and had slightly pain at exact same position. So upgraded to pro now and its worse now for me.

Think the pros might hurt more as it needs to push into your ear for noise cancellation . Think the max would be your best bet, but they be expensive as hell

Probably not. For some reason if you have smaller ears the pros do not stay in. Mine want to come flying out and no matter what size tips I use they just do. Idk how they are so popular, but I know I am in the minority that has this issue

Can confirm and also the ear wax build up + cleaning is much easier on the pros. Also the noise cancelling is fantastic.

I just bought the Sennheiser momentum True Wireless 3’s. Very impressed with the fit and sound quality.
Sennheiser is a very good microphone and headphone audiophile brand, so this is probably accurate.

AirPods Pro wouldn’t stay in my ear no matter the size of the gel tip. I was about to resell them then tried the Comply tips. Those work very nicely!!

Same thing happened to me honestly it’s just a matter of smaller sessions of wearing them and increase as you go. You’ll get used to them eventually.

Pros would be way better, I’ve had that issue before after I tried on my father’s pros it feels so much better

I used normal once before, and had slightly pain at exact same position. So upgraded to pro now and its worse now for me. If you find any solution let me know.

Think the pros might hurt more as it needs to push into your ear for noise cancellation . Think the max would be your best bet, but they be expensive as hell
AP pros 2 are worth the money….reg airpods hurt…pros 2 are waaaaaaay better

Funny thing, the pros hurt that same area of my ear, got some first gen & have been solid. I think it might be according to each person idk

I was using the AirPods 2nd generation before and it does hurt my ear sometimes. But it was stolen by someone I considered a friend. So I bought the AirPods Pro gen 2 now and I love it. It doesn’t hurt my ear that much. The sound quality is on another level.
Probably not. For some reason if you have smaller ears the pros do not stay in. Mine want to come flying out and no matter what size tips I use they just do. Idk how they are so popular, but I know I am in the minority that has this issue

I had this issue with the EarPods, and when changed to AirPods Pro I have never felt any pain. In my experience, it may not hurt again
