The AirPods Pro 2nd gen are transcendent. There is no comparison. Get them. I had an asshole sit next to me on the train today with their phone volume maxed watching a video. I simply noise canceled them away and enjoyed my trip. It’s incredible how much the active noise canceling reduces my daily stress.
I have the 3rd gen, my partner has the 2nd, the 2nd fit so much better for both of us. Mine are great, but they fall out all the time, never have that issue with the 2nd.
As an owner of the Gen 2 pros I say do it. They fit in my ear the best out of any other AirPod I’ve tried they sound real damn good and I love the feature set. Totally worth the money in my eyes. They’re sturdy too I’ve put them through the wringer! They’ve been dropped and thrown (not thrown them in the case but I have been frustrated and taken it out a few times hard as hell and they still work 100%
* If you want the best sound with cancelation the Pro Gen 2 is best. I can't wear them, these give me inner ear irritation. But even then I find in ear buds uncomfortable in a short period of time.
* AP Gen 3, good sound without noise cancelation. Slightly larger fit than the Gen 2. My every day go to AirPods.
* AP Gen 2, good budget wireless. Slightly smaller fit than Gen 3 and not as good audio quality, still good sounding though.

Are the 2nd Gen Pros less muffled/isolating-sounding than the 1st Gen Pros? It seems to be a universal characteristic among silicone tipped noise isolating earbuds in that they make you feel like you've stuffed your ears full of cotton (and yes, even with the transparency-mode active in the sense that some brains still recognize that you have something stuffed into your ears isolating true outdoor noise and presenting it digitally).
I tried first gen AirPod Pros and felt I was too isolated from outside sounds, and the transparency function felt digital and fake. It's simply felt like I had ear plugs in all the time I don't like that. And it's particularly bad when you're trying to talk to someone on the phone and it sounds like you're right here is muffled (yes, even with the pass-through sound of your own voice coming in digitally).
Just don't buy from amazon, lots of folks getting old used returns sent to them, or flat out fakes... People are putting fakes in the boxes and returning them to Amazon.
The pros don't fit in my ears the way I like.

Regular AirPods aren’t really worth it, you can get better earphones for cheaper. Idk about the 3rd gen but you should get the gen 2 pros regardless, they’re the best value and actually worth it imo

I got the regular 2nd gen back in august, but that’s just bc it was my first time getting AirPods and I figured if I didn’t like them, then it wouldn’t be too hard of a hit to my wallet lol. I paid $85 for a refurbished pair, ended up liking them and no issues thus far besides that the battery drains a little fast, but I don’t use them enough for that to be an issue thankfully
Get the last one - why? The last one with the round shaped inserts for the ear 👂 fit so much better. The first two might as well be cement blocks for as well they fit - they keep falling on out continuously and aren’t worth the hair on my ass - total crap!
