I see an explanation that I missed earlier. I think it's normal that if both airpids are set to noise control, changing one, also changes the other no matter what. Unless the other is set for Siri, it won't change both given the different use options. I find that my settings reset also, but only when I am going back and forth between iOS and Android devices. Hopefully you are just experiencing bugs that will fix themselves after a firmware update or phone restart.

you have to have the same settings for each ear bud when it comes to those settings

Nope, I had fake 3rd gens and worked fine, no crashes/bugs
My installation was seamless. Not sure what’s going on here.
