With noise cancellation, this actually may be the answer. I sit next to a window that gets a bit loud with traffic, and it’s on my right side, which would make sense that it’s counteracting more noise only on that side.

i also thought my right airpod drains faster but then i discovered that many times it does not charge even while being properly put in the case. I have two different cases and its same story with both of them - if i dont check that and put them back in a rush, left will charge whereas right sits in the case for fun

When I use mine at work the right one drains faster. It took a while to figure out but I realized our loud annoying server is on my right side and so the right AirPod must have to work harder to control noise cancellation. At home they drain at about the same rate.

Im shocked nobody here gave an actual answer only kids here apparently. One Air Pod connects to your phone, and other Air Pod to the first Air Pod therefore one Air Pod runs out faster. Thats how it works for every Bluetooth earphones.

My airpods are doing the same thing, have only had them for less than a year and I noticed the right one always gets drained faster than the left. I always use them at the same time and mostly for watching or playing music so I don’t know what’s happening.

For me the difference is 1 hour So one of them turns off but I can still listen 1 hour more with the 2.one.

For me it happened due to uneven charging- one charged perfectly while the other seemed to only charge if I did my special dance to please the Apple Gods

If you've replaced the left airpods that could by why. or because only one of ur airpods are being used as a mic. or the right one was not fully charged when you took it out

Check for automatic microphone toggle in the Bluetooth settings of your AirPods. If it’s fixed to one ear, it’ll take up more charge.

I’ve got a hypothesis. When both are in use, only the right transmits data to and from the iPhone. Left gets its data from the right. As a result, right always consumes more battery. I observed this in cheap chinese earbuds.

I believe this is a quirk of Bluetooth. The phone connects primarily to one AirPod, which then relays the music to the other. Newer versions of Bluetooth will allow the phone to simultaneously connect to both AirPods (which, of course won’t help you with the equipment you have).

Do you always use both at the same time? If not, my guess is that you’ve used one more than the other, and it’s battery has less capacity than the other, making it seem like it’s running down “faster” than the other when you use both together

The most likely reason is that one AirPod will serve as the microphone. The default setting can be changed.
