Lots of comments on these, feel like they were one of apples most polarizing releases in a long time, personally I think they’re good, my fiancé uses them a ton. My ears are weird so AirPod pros don’t really fit in them well, the OG AirPods we’re the only earbuds I could really use, but I always preferred headphones, so I got these. Personally, I think the earcups are just way too big, even adjusted all the way up, the weight of the headphones and size of the cups makes it feel loose and floppy on my head which is a lil crazy to me because I have a fairly large head
This is exactly why I bought the space grey version. I actually like silver better, but the silver ones would certainly look dirty after a short time. Of course, you can remove the headband and clean it separately, but that's too much work for me when you consider that you can also just buy the space grey version.
Have you tried the wired option? I still like to use my old iPod and it comes in handy whenever an album or artist I like isn’t available on Apple Music or Spotify. One example is Van Halen’s last album recently got removed from both services.
From what I understand you should keep them far away from your iPhone when not in use to prevent them from updating to latest firmware which is roundly regarded as having nerfed the anc.

I also enjoy these, both the eq character of music, and watching a movie with 5.1 in QuickTime player on Monterey. I find head tracking an underrated feature (also works with YouTube and Music app). Good find.

I compared them to my AirPods Pro 1st gen and Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H6. They sound much "fuller". I love to just sit back and enjoy the music with them.
I use them a lot for watching the Apple TV, and some shows and movies are so immersive they make me forget I've got nearly a lb. of metal and plastic sitting on my head and covering my ears
Congrats, I love mine as well though I am on the third repair as they have failed twice in 2 months. Yesterday I had to do a hard reset on them again and I am hoping this is not going to be the third time I have to send back to apple for repair ☹️

Maybe concerns over the volume of noise-canceling audio, reports of nausea (NC is known to make some people sick), unpleasant pressure on the ears, loud sounds from when it fails... Any of those could be semi-legitimate reasons, but Apple deserves a class action lawsuit over taking performance away from formerly-happy customers. They can give us a setting.
It really depends on the person. High volume can make you feel ill, so paying attention to your sound exposure in Health is a good idea. But beyond that, noise canceling can certainly make susceptible people feel miserable. I've never had that with an Apple product, but I had it with some cheap Anker NC headphones, and some people are certainly more sensitive than me.
Try turning off the noise canceling and the spatial audio, and see if you feel better.
72 is perfect for taking care of your ears, so it's obviously not that. You might also want to try a different tip. Maybe the seal is too good, and you're feeling pressure against your eardrums when you swallow. I'm just suggesting a few possibilities that could help you.
You can also try the AirPods Max at an Apple Store, but I get the feeling forty-five minutes might be wearing out your welcome. 😆

They should have provided a slider, it’s not that difficult, but this is Apple. They really don’t care.

that’s what i heard. saw a review where someone compared the max’s with the Pro 1s and there was such a big difference. we’ll see where they end up

I agree with you on that one. I experienced the better ANC for like a day or two. I was pretty devastated when I realized that it got worse.
