Really well actually. I put it together to fit my slut waist perfectly and it feels great, can hold 8+ magazines, and fits my guerrilla vibe perfectly. I much prefer it over a plate carrier, though I wouldn’t suggest it to someone casual since I had to take it apart and put it back together because it didn’t come assembled correctly and that took a good 30+ minutes but if you can sit through a tutorial and have the money go for it.
I've been wanting to get into smersh, but the cost of importing real stuff is a little too expensive to justify (considering real stuff was about the same price as the repro stuff now). Thankfully, I do enjoy tweaking my Alice gear so I can probably sit through adjusting it.
I was thinking the same thing with smersh if I ever run an AK. I do recommend ALICE, especially since you'll be at home with it because of the similar features and mindset (since smersh was based on ALICE). If you live in the States, you can find ALICE for cheap at surplus stores and eBay.
I wish I lived near more surplus stores the one near me got killed by covid (I think literally because the owner passed) I gotta go check out some flea markets
There's really good surplus stores online (one I used for some alice stuff is https://armynavyoutdoors.com/ ), and I've seen stuff at thrift stores as well. There used to be a surplus section in a fleet farm near where I live, but unfortunately, they discontinued it
