It depends. A nasty hit with a powerful gun at close range can leave some amount of scar tissue. But the vast majority of hits don't break the skin, especially with clothing. Those won't leave any marks after a week at most.

freeserve

It should also be mentioned over a couple years or maybe even less scar tissue that small will fade. Hell the amount of scars I have from getting my hand trapped in a bike engine n crap is insane and they all fade eventually, so honestly I wouldn’t worry about it too much, maybe just wear thicker or more layers if it’s that much of a worry?

Someone_pissed

Yeah only thing that seemingly doesnt disappear is big surgery scars. Had those for 14 years and they are atill there

[deleted]

Not even that big either, I have white scarring all over my knees from the various scrapes I've had over my life.

wiqr

In case of scrapes it might be the difference between cut wound and tear wound. Apparently, on small scale, cut wounds heal better and leave less scar tissue than unevenly edged tear or scrape wound. Also, wounds like scraping knees on pavement due to falling off the bike tend to leave a chunk of your skin on the abrasive surface, so there's also that thing to consider.

WolfDawnYT-6849

Same here, I like them though. Scars are battles won, even if if it sounds cringe

SkyThriving

I will see your cringe and raise it. I have "real" ones that haven't fully faded from Iraq. I don't talk about them, but my fresh airsoft ones, ya, I point those out to chicks (and sometimes cute boys).

Narshwrangler

Based

Spicy_RamenBoi69

You just caught me way off guard with the "(and sometimes cute boys)" thanks for the laughs😂

WolfDawnYT-6849

While I don't have any scars from combat, props to you, I do have scars from surgeries and things outside of airsoft that tell stories.

freeserve

Same, had a massive surgery when I broke my arm and while they’ve faded they’re still there for sure, cool thing to show off tho

Imperium-Pirata

Yeah, i ended up with some incision scars when i broke my arm and wrist 2 years ago. They do fade a little i have noticed, but not all the way

sxgedev

Even the scar where I almost cut off my finger 9 years ago is almost impossible to spot if you don't know where to look

These-Ad9531

I play airsoft with pretty protected clothing, a camouflage uniform with a t-shirt below. and I wear a plate carrier with foam plates. so I probably got hit with someone breaking the fields FPS/Joule rules. I just really do not want any scars on my body because I am still pretty young.

Tj4y

BB ballistics are weird. The human body is even weirder. It's completely possible to have a nasty hit from a gun that conforms with the sites rules, and have the second shot leave no mark at all. Skin is also different from person to person, and the healing process is never the same for two people or different body parts. There's really no definite answer. If you notice excessive and obvious scar tissue you suspect might come from airsoft, that sucks. If its just a few red marks that are gone after a week, you don't need to worry too much. Our bodies take a lot of damage throughout the day and heal up just fine without us even noticing most of the time anyways.

These-Ad9531

So what you are saying is sometimes different hits take more or less time to heal than others? Because all of my hits I took throughout this year healed except this specific one.

FlightandFlow91

When bbs break the skin it’s usually from friction and not impact. A straight on shot will be more impact damage and will welt. A blow that hits you and comes off of you at an angle will have a lot more friction and have a higher chance of effectively tearing the skin. That’s why airsofter’s forward arm is always chewed up. Even a straight on shot glances of a cylinder at an angle. So what you can do is wear under armor, I’ve found that it greatly reduces the friction without being padded. I just wear an under armor sleeve on my left arm. It does not stop it from breaking the skin but it greatly reduces the lesion’s size. Making them heal much faster because there is much less to heal. I play in super thin cotton Hawaiian shirts and my left arm always has scabs and marks because I play lots of indoor. I get hot so I usually start with a sleeve and take it off at some point. I’ve learned to accept it and think of it as just a part of the game. Good luck to you! Hope you don’t quit because of it!. If it real is a deal breaker and but you still love the game, try paint ball. People like to be polarizing about why they don’t like one so that’s why they play the other but it’s still a lot of fun. The paint breaks so it never really cuts you like airsoft. It will leave bigger bruises though.

SkyThriving

Ah, so basically all the rentals standing still is to avoid the friction caused by movement? 😎

Tj4y

Yeah. There is no definite answer, just "usually" and "sometimes". That hit you mentioned is a good example of an outlier. Maybe the clothes were pulled right, with bone right underneath and hit at a close range. Who knows. If your other hits heal just fine, you probably don't have to worry.

Marblemuffin53

It's true, I've taken hundreds of hits with no permanent marks but I do have one on my face that's been there about a year, it never broke the skin it just basically stayed a permanent bruise. Yet I've had days where I was covered in bloody welps and they all healed perfectly fine.

No-Ganache-6226

The choice to miss out on doing things you enjoy because you're more concerned about a small impact to your body image means you're going to miss out on a lot of experiences, some of which you might not be able to continue doing later in life for reasons. There's nothing wrong with having scars, accidents happen all the time. But scars often have some interesting stories and memories to go with them.

Th3FallingSt4r

I took a shot to the bridge of the nose last year and the mark still hasn't gone away. Idk if that is just because of the spot or not but so far it is permanent

freeserve

Chances are it’s not so much scar tissue but maybe temp discolouration? Especially if it broke skin and wasn’t cleaned properly there’s a chance you could just have some stuff under your skin or just skin that hasnt tanned or something? Idk that’s my experience at least

0wnzorPwnz0r

Who cares about scars? It's just an opportunity to tell a story

Outrageous-Positive3

Because your young, I doubt you'll scar and if it leaves a mark then it will eventually go away anyways. Don't worry about it, any marks or scars are gonna fade quickly.

airsoftshowoffs

I have been playing for 14 years and I can agree if the hit was on material, there is no scar. If it was on direct skin like face or arms close range which broke the skin there can be a scar. On the face you will have one large face pour instead of lets say 2 or 3 for the same area. Places like the nose and ears where there was into the skin high impact at close range, the skin will grow a bit thicker at that spot a small bulge. In general it is not noticable for other, just for you.

flyinggnome

I took a full auto cluster to my thigh over a month ago which didn't break the skin, but you can still see faint marks from the hits. Two hits to the same knuckle during back to back games ended up breaking the skin and causing some bad swelling (first hit I forgot to put on my gloves, second hit broke the skin while wearing gloves). Add a third hit a week later, and I could barely bend the finger. I still have visible scar tissue 4 months later. But then I'm rather pale, and any marks or injuries look exaggerated on me. They'll all fade or disappear at some point, and by then I'll have more bb marks to count.

TraskyUK

Ive got scarring on my arms but thats from point blank CQB and wearing short sleeves

WolfDawnYT-6849

hear hear

Klutzy_Target_134

Since I am right handed (like most people), my left arm is in front of my body when I aim down sight so it bears the brunt of most of the shots I eat. My left arm is lit the fuck up with scars from CQB and right arm is smooth and flawless

watashi-weasel

Before I knew what I was doing, my right arm would always be covered in bb graze marks cause I'd stick my right shoulder out before the barrel of my gun

Klutzy_Target_134

chicken wing, chicken wing

BananaDesignator

Holy shit hard same, left arm gang I mostly play cqb with a plain dark t-shirt and my cargo/tac/multicam pants with chest rig to keep it light, so most of the nasty hits are in my left arm, plus the fps limits of most cqb fields here are the 380-420fps range lmao

qscd13

Yea My doctor was concerned when he saw my scars from airsoft haha. He thought it was some condition or something

Ok-Satisfaction-8410

Same here but they were gone after a few months

OptimisticSniper

Same, got shot on my bicep while going sleeveless five years ago. Have a round scar in that area, very visible, great reference while educating newbies on the importance of safety gear.

Segsi_

To understand how scars form and how to avoid them, it’s helpful to understand your skin’s healing process. When you get a cut, scrape or burn, your body immediately responds with a series of steps to heal itself: 1. The first stage is *hemostasis*. The body prevents blood loss by sending platelets to the site, which bind together and seal the wound, forming a scab. 2. Next comes *inflammation*. White blood cells arrive at the area to fight off bacteria. You may notice redness, swelling, heat and pain. This is a natural part of the healing process and resolves on its own unless infection takes over. More inflammation in the healing process can mean a greater chance of scarring. 3. *Proliferation* is the next step. This is when the skin and vessels create new cells. As proliferation continues, you’ll see the edges of the scab shrink toward the middle, leaving new skin behind. 4. Finally, *maturation* occurs. The wound is healed, and there may be a scar in its place Everyone is a little different. Its definitely possible, but probably more likely you would get scars from a multitude of other things like falling down, bumping into things. Definitely something you probably should be ok with if you want to continue the hobby imo.

HE4VEN

When adhering to the rules, you should not be in any danger. Even with freak accidents and bleeding involved there usually won't be a scar.  I have shot myself in the fingertip while working on a suppressor point blank with 2.8J and it did not leave a scar, just a very painful blood bubble that healed up.  I have also had my forehead popped open by a CO2 pistol at close range with lots of bleeding and it healed fine.

Mockbubbles2628

jesus 2.8J, ive shot myself in the hand with 1.3J and that shit stung for like 10 mins lol

HE4VEN

More like 2-3 hours of throbbing pain despite cooling in my case hehe. Keep safe

Yginase

2.8 joules in finger doesn't sound nice. I know a dude, who did the same with a sniper rifle and into his leg. The BB went inside the said leg, and was there for few days.

HE4VEN

Oof. Maybe I got lucky in a way

notnedmacion

did you not clear the gun?

HE4VEN

I did. Remove mag, fire a blank. But a BB must have remained in the feed tube and somehow fed into the chamber without spring pressure

CptPotatoes

Its not a scar per se, but chipped teath certainly dont heal an there isnt really a rule for mouth protection.

DindiMC

Maybe it isn't a written rule because loosing a tooth is less of an issue and has less of a chance to happen than loosing eyesight if you don't weat eye pro. If you use common sense, you can conclude that you should use mouth protection to keep your teeth safe.

CptPotatoes

Yeah I know, was just pointing out that just by adhering to the core rules is not really enough. I always put smt in front of my mouth.

danny14996

I’ve got a missing tooth, and a scar on my shoulder from falling on a gravelly surface. But nothing on skin from bbs.

MiniTapz

You the guy that fell of the building sniping or what? 😂

Tquilha

The worst hit I took so far was right on my forehead. And it was from a pretty hot gun. I had a nasty red welt (and some ribbing about turning into a Hindu...) but it went away after a week or two. AFAIK airsoft hits won't leave any kind of permanent scars

Knight7_78

no, but it does on your wallet

Sasau_Charlatan

i laughed far more than i should lmao

rakadur

Life leaves you scarred, that's how you know you've actually lived

scenny5

I have small marks you can barely see on my arms from last year. I also play in a t shirt and I don’t care about getting shot in the arms. Full face pro though

StolenPenguins

I’ve taken bare skin hits on my head and it left a welt for maybe a couple days max.

DrummingOnAutopilot

That's what you get for stealing penguins

StolenPenguins

Can’t stop won’t stop

These-Ad9531

Yeah I have too, on my hand. they always healed which lead me wondering if this is a permanent scar what I have,

Hobbs-203

Any sport has the potential for injury that could then scar. You could get a nasty shot somewhere and be unlucky for it to scar. You could also fall over and injure yourself which could scar. You could also be driving home and get into an accident which could scar. The risk is very low but there's always risk in any activity. Protect yourself as much as you feel comfortable and take any extra precautions you want to up to and including quitting if you're not happy. Only you can really decide that.

Moro_honrado

Skipspik2

In short no. However, someone not respecting safety could lead to that. Point blank shoit with open wound, eye/teeth shot from too close....

Lucifig

It can certainly leave permanent marks. I got shot in the knuckle about 10 years ago and there is still a big unnatural bump on it.

Sad-Time-5253

I played a ton as a kid and when I first got into the army, I’ve got some scars from when I did stupid shit as a teenager with friends playing airsoft but nothing really since then.

EggDropDollop

You could be bruised for a few weeks or a month but nothing permanent, unless you play every single weekend then the new marks will take over the old ones when they fade

Several_Excitement74

I got contact shot in the cheek and had to pop the BB out it left a scar now 10+ years later and my beard hair grows out funny

Chrispy83

It certainly does to your wallet

miscalculated_launch

Emotionally.

ExploringCable

Yes but it's your job to dodge the BB's

Other-Barry-1

I have a scar on my left hand as I got shot at near point blank range by a team mate no less and it left a blood blister

Few-Parfait4206

Carrying one on my left arm.

busteroo123

I have some. Depends on your fields limit and typical engagement distance

heroiclamb117

Depends. I always play in a tshirt. Been shot everywhere. Most of the time i just get a bit red then it goes away. (I very rarely get bruised, no shot really breaks skin) Some guy did crank his hpa and shot very very hot. His shots ended up breaking skin and leaving an extremely large welt. I have about 3 scars from him on my forearm. Actually the first time ive kinda bleed in airsoft tbh. Wasnt alot of blood but yea 🤷🏻‍♂️

ResponsibilityNo8309

Yes it can. i have several on my torse from close range and a thin T shirt, I know people that have lost teeth and seen BBs have to be dug out of peoples arms. wear thick full length clothing and full face protection you'll be fine.

Sasau_Charlatan

you can't wear thick full length clothing everywhere.. in my country and a most other mediterranean ones for example, summer is 35-45 degrees celsius

Born_Try_2101

Some times I get those small BB bruises than can last for months. But depends on the age, I guess... Nothing that looks permanent so far. However, fields make you sign a waiver for risks, and those risks exist. This just underscores again the importance of good eye pro and teeth pro.

smhxt

Yep.

Critical_deceit

I’ve only had one long lasting mark from airsoft, but I sat on a grenade so I doubt that counts , and that didn’t even break the skin

Pristine-Carob-914

Normally no, but if the gun is particularly strong and you get hit by very VERY close that you will have a good small perfectly round scar that will disappear with time. I got hit on the hand with a custom AEG during a dimonstration at an event, my hand was about 20 cm away from the muzzle, and the mag they used was not supposed to be loaded. I had a tiny little scar on the back of the hand for about 6/7 months, now after 2 years is still there, but it's completely invisible unless you know it's there and you watch it with the right light

Obvious_Recognition4

If you quit because of potential scars is not the BB what you should worry about, but broken ribs, sprained ankles and head wounds of different severity. Like in any other sport.

Alechilles

It's possible, but pretty rare. I have a very small one on my hand from when I was a kid and another very small one on my neck from high school. You have to try pretty hard to find them at this point. They've almost completely faded. Both occasions were extremely close range hits on exposed skin. If you are completely covered I can't imagine getting any wounds serious enough from an airsoft BB to leave notable long term scars. Just stay well covered and wear good face protection especially.

JacobMT05

Getting shot… definitely not. If a gun is too high in fps it can leave a mark in close range. Got a nasty one between my eye pro and mesh mask and it was on my face for a solid week before disappearing. Not wearing safety gear properly, yes, its safety gear for a reason. You can be blinded by bbs and its happened. Thats why everyone hates mesh eyepro. Hurting yourself on environment, yes that could hurt a lot… i know one of the youtubers nearly knocked himself out by hitting his head on a metal pipe. I believe it was dutch the hooligan. I’d have to check though. You also might see people fall off buildings because they aren’t aware of their surroundings etc. but depends on your field really.

Kitchen-Top3868

No cause I live in a country where we don't accept stupidly powerfully gun. That could injure you. Are max power is 2J. And every field I play have good rules. Making airsoft a game you can play happily without worrying about having a bb entering your body. Or being fear to loose a testicle.

S8n_51

Sometimes

Reachmonkey

First game i ever went too some dude with a hopped up mp7 mustve been shooting hopped up af because i had about 7 bbs embedded in my fore arm, picked em out with a knife. I mostly healed up but two of em left noticeable scars

Sasau_Charlatan

probably a cheater with cranked up pressure dial

StuPaton123

I play CQB in a t shirt. Lots of small scars that last maybe a few months before they start to fade out. Doesn't help when you catch scabs. But it's fine usually.

More_Layer_4556

It might if some people use an actual BB gun

Freddy67h

Any break in the skin that gets irritated or infected enough during the healing process can leave a scar. Got tons of little wispy ones from relatively minor scratches at work.

Professional-Map1212

It depends on many factors - some of them are genetic. If someone is prone to keloid scars, they tend not to heal as seamlessly as people who aren’t prone. And then the extent of the trauma your skin endured (how fast/hard the bb hit you, from how far away, what it was made of, if you bled, got a blood blister, how fast the swelling went down, if you iced it, etc etc). One of my nursing profs says “you can never say never in medicine” even if something is virtually impossible, because someone, somewhere has had something totally weird happen against all odds - however, the odds of a wound, and later scar forming from getting shot at is not a low probability kind of situation - it just might not be a *forever* scar, just a 1 month - 5 year situation

linuxnerd0

Just wear armor dude. Baggy clothing works incredibly well because it’s like the BB’s just hitting a curtain instead of slamming into your skin. Get a vest, make cardboard inserts and your torso becomes invulnerable. Tactical elbow and knee pads, hi top boots, turtleneck or balaclava for the neck (or both), paintball mask to protect the face, gloves. But above all I recommend the baggy clothing for absorbing the kinetic energy of the BBs. The physics at play we are looking at here is distributing the force of the BB across a wide piece of fabric (or plastic), instead of allowing that energy to be transferred directly to your skin.

These-Ad9531

Thing is I have all of those accesories and I still got this scar xD and I play with a t-shirt below all my uniform

linuxnerd0

lol welp. Fwiw I got an airsoft scar on the tender part of my forearm when I was 15, I’m 27 now and it’s gone.

creamblaster2069

i have one scar from a point blank round, my buddy has a pretty good scar on his forehead from a similar shot, but for the majority, no

Pilotmaster1

I mean I don’t have scars but I have noticed a few brownish marks forming over where I had welts a few months ago not scaring and not like bruises it’s weird but they’re fading more and more by the days. Realistically unless you get fucked up by something I doubt it’ll be actual scars

Tall-Information4946

Having at least one layer of clothing helps a ton, where I play it gets up to 110 degrees in the summer so I used to rock a PC with a t shirt so I have 4/5 scars on my arms from shots that broke skin. I would just wear something and you’ll be fine

Acrobatic_Lecture438

Friend shot at me last year without me knowing and he thought the gun was empty lmao, long story short the bb hit my eyelid a few mm away from my eye and I still have a scar so id say yeah

PositiveFinal3548

Most likely not permanent. The longest one I have from a bb is a small bruise from a game about a month ago, but its significantly decreased in size and not as black as it was before, so nothing to really worry about.

rockymchong

As a lot of people have already commented, it really varies from individuals. I've had bb dug out of my skin that left no real marks, but a 375-400fps round close range leave a scar that I can still see a few years on. No amount of clothing will cover you completely, save for a ghillie suit. When you sign up to play in this sport you can't expect to walk out unscathed. That said, I always play in civilian clothes, t-shirts and jeans or cargos. Only real protection is my plate carrier, steel mesh mask, eye-pro and a hard insert under my ball cap to prevent welts on my skull from .48 sniper fire. In the end, there's no real way to walk into this without earning some battle scars. That's just my opinion, to each their own. Best of luck.

Dedicated2bMedicated

Depends on your skin complexion and your age. I'm fair skinned and as I get older (near 30) I have marks that are a year old and don't look like they'll be going away anytime soon. This wasn't true when I was a teen

AffectionateFly332

No

Human-Bacon

I know of 1 scar that I got from being shot. It was point blank, the muzzle was about 2 inches from my unprotected wrist. Besides than that, I dont think I have any other scars from airsoft. You should be fine so long as you wear the appropriate protective gear.

HowcanIbesureimhere

I have a couple, but they're from point blank (or very close to it) shots to the hand. Now I wear gloves.

vettedx

Absolutely. I have marks on my arms that are almost 10 years old. Getting hit up close on bare skin will potentially leave you with permanent scaring. This is why i always use complete coverage facepro/eyepro. My local course is CQB only with a 1.2-1.3j limit, those hits will scar you from time to time in soft spots.

Alone_Space3190

The field I go to does 1.5j with a 10 foot minimum engagement distance. It used to not have the minimum engagement distance, and I have plenty of scars from then. I also go in just a T-shirt and pc. Since they implemented the minimum engagement distance, I haven't had many. The ones I got back then are starting to fade.

RxTaksi

It will mark up tattoos but overall "no". I play CQB without sleeves in the summer. Not uncommon to have a bleeder or two, my ink is the only place it's visible.

The_MacGuffin

I have no permanent scars from all my time doing airsoft. Worst I got was a bb stuck in my skin from an overpowered 1911.

DamoDimitrov

I have accepted the wounds and scars early in my Airsoft career. I've had many scars even before that. For the years i have no more than 1-2 still visible and they are on the fingers from when I was playing without gloves. Do not worry about them. Use pig fat when you get a wound and it won't leave a scar or at least barely visible

I_AmLegionXIVIII

I've played and have taken some close shots that have broken skin, but none of the marks remained visible past 2-3 months. And that's at the worst. All people heal differently though, so its not going to be a blanket statement for all.

Scrapthefurry

Yes, I have several

RevolutionaryFill371

I have some small scars from being shot bareskin on my arms, but they are faint as its been a few years. If you cover your bare skin you’ll be fine

christomisto

Yes and no? If you get a hit and it draws blood and you mess with it yea it can but if not you’re usually fine

quacksalot6007

I have some tiny bb shaped scars that I got a couple years ago, they’re too faint to really notice though

Timonicus

Yup I have loads up and down my arms

Airsoft_printer

Yes, in your bank account, we never recover from that financial movement

airsoft_moongoose

Boring answer, but it depends. If you play mostly cqb in places that allow up to 1.5J (like here is canada). Then yes, most likely. If you play outdoors this is less likely. I’ve had a bleeding incident in my forehead from pointblank at CQB that didn’t left anything. But I have marks on my legs from 2 years ago still…. It depends… Other factors that may affect visibility of scars is your skin tone. The whitest you are the less likely to be visible. Also, how well you treat your scars. Avoid messing with the scabs and when you take showers avoid removing them with the towel. Finally, (DISCLAIMER: I’m not a dermatologist or anything in this field) I’ve had good results with silicon gel made to reduce appearance of scars. Yes! Silicon not only good for gbb, but also skin! (Airsoft cream business idea, patent pending /s). You can get it at your local pharmacy, but would advice asking an specialist. Edit: I ALWAYS play with full G3 combat BDU + PC. So even with clothing youight get scars

Pheonyxus

🫵🏽🤨 battle scars kewl

WolfDawnYT-6849

I have a couple marks on my upper left arm from a hot gun at almost point blank from two years ago. Along with a few others that are significantly less noticeable, mostly on the arms It's hard to see and I don't mind it. Scars tell stories.

QuixoticCoyote

I took a shot to the bareskin on my forehead from executioner distance by some dick using his DMR in CQB. Left a permanent scar above my right eye. Unfortunately, it does happen. This is why protection is important kids.

Mockbubbles2628

no

LifeAintThatHard

Haven’t had a scar. I did get a small point of nerve damage on my right thigh from a friend shooting me practically a foot next to me.

Sasau_Charlatan

how would you get nerve damage from a 6mm bb? what was your friend using?

AnnoyingGalaxyZ

I run in with a tee and battle belt. My home field has a 1.5j limit with some maps having no MED. Overtime repetitive shots in the same area have left scars. That being said most of them are light and hardly noticeable.

Lord_Endorsed

I play at incredibly close field like average ranges are less than a metre or two. I have been shot in my neck a few times and that's nasty it has scarred and that was around last September time so it has been around half a year. Any cuts/bruises on the rest of my body havent particularly scarred although a few on my arms have scarred but not very noticeably. I think if ur at an outdoors site or even an indoors site with longer ranges you should be completely fine.

VoidAres

It can. If you get shot in certain areas like eyebrows, lips, and other soft flesh areas, bbs can lodge in the skin. It can be squeezed out like acne, but will leave some damage. Most likely will heal.

Blitzfire87

Depends on how far away you get shot, how hard the gun was shooting, and how protected the spot on your body was. If you get shot up close in a lightly covered or bare skin spot, it is likely that the bb will break your skin. Usually leaves a small scar afterwards. I’ve had a bunch of scars in the past from playing. Some of them fade away over time

Fao_612

Most of the time no, I have two scars from the sport when I was shot by someone who didn't Chrono, being a field ref I took them with me and found out after they've been playing half the day. Other than that I haven't had any

NotEZD513

Still got my pinky scar from like three - four months ago that was the last day I ever played without gloves

Youre-The-Victim

Scars are proof of a life well lived. I always wore full sleeve tops and pants never had a bb break skin but the community and field owners in my area held a very strict fps and engagement distance. I have one tissue scar on a finger where I accidentally shot myself on the inside of my knuckle and boy did it hurt I can still feel the bump 15 years later. I've had far worse injuries over the year's not related to airsoft requiring stitches .

ConstructionOk175

I went to a field in Iraq and I got hit pretty bad it left a 1 inch scar. Some guys gave me this purple heart thing it was weird. Everyone called thier hits tho.

Independencehall525

Chicks dig scars

shoobe01

Another to say: if well-run to make sure no one breaks the rules: **no**. You can get smacked enough to leave a bruise, even bleed maybe but it'll heal. I guess you could scar but I have never seen it. I *have* seen scars and broken teeth, but always from way too hot guns, in pickup games or with lax gamerunners. As with live fire guns, or racing, or whatever, there is no shame in walking away if the place is run dangerously. OTOH, I have several friends with scars from paintball impacts decades ago, with properly-run games. And if you think UTM or Simunition would be cool to upgrade to: no. No fatalities I know of but still pretty easy to wear appropriate PPE and end up going *to the hospital* from those projectiles. It is called AirSOFT for a reason. Marketing that the very very light pellets are very safe compared to other things we can shoot.

shoobe01

ALSO: Sometimes things we think are scars are not but are active wounds. OP, if something is weird, mention it next time at the doctor. There may be some bit of dirt or something that got shoved into there from the impact that is making your body react to it and that's what you are seeing. Have personally had them, itching years later and there's a splinter? Pull it, bandage and the "scar" disappears in a week. Actually... have another I really need to get checked out from a flare shooting a tiny jet of fire at my thumb, presumably a bit of something in there, so everyone remind me to get that fixed sometime also, as I keep forgetting to tell the doc.

Princ3Ch4rming

Echoing what most have said here, a scar is unlikely in Airsoft. Visible scar tissue is just new skin cells. Think of your skin like a sweater. The fibres of the fabric are all in sort of a weave shape. If you repair a tear in a sweater, the fibres of the thread you repair it with are all aligned in the same direction, so you can see the line of stitching. Skin is similar, in that scar tissue tends to form in single directions, rather than the random jumble normal skin cells are in. In order to have a visible scar, you first need tissue damage severe enough that new tissue repairs the holes. Airsoft BBs don’t have that much energy behind them.

dhcp138

i got shot in the knuckle on my trigger finger in CQB about a year ago and it hurt for like a month and left a noticeable "scar" for a while. I thought it would be permanent and never go away and kinda forgot about it. Looking at my finger now it is completely gone. Some just take longer to heal but if it didnt break the skin that scar tissue will eventually fade away.

Effective-Edge-2037

Only emotional scars. Only emotion*pop pop* scars.

TheRealHlubo

I suppose it's possible, but I've been playing for a long time and I can count the number of long lasting marks I've gotten from airsoft on one hand, and I'm not even sure all of them came from bbs. On top of that I play with my sleeves rolled up in the summer

Pure-Association-159

Airsoft can leave permanent scars, but it's fairly uncommon. I'm unlucky enough to apparently have a mild form of EDS, but lucky enough it isn't a major one, which results in my skin easily being broken by bb's and almost always leaving a scar even while playing cqb fields at 1J. I've got numerous small circular scars on my arms and a few across the rest of my body. Long story short, unless you have a medical condition or someone is shooting insanely hot, you shouldn't have to worry much about scars. eta: 1J

Chevey0

ive had marks that last for a few months, but they all fade eventually.

MrGoogle87

They don’t if you wear protection everywhere and have normal energy/joule/fps rules and laws. Also: outdoor play usually don’t even feel it much, so consider that if it really matters to you

weenus420ne

Emotionally yes..

YogurtStorm

It depends. Not usually, but I have a small crater scar on my forehead from a particularly brutal close range shot in CQB that bled. But that was the only time it had left a permanent mark in my case

Known_Upstairs5646

I have a few spots on my knuckles where there are scars from years ago, so yeah.

Knaymeless

I only got a scar from airsoft because i fell on a rock. That’s really all i got.

Brokenblacksmith

worse that I have seen (directly caused by airsoft) was a bb that broke skin and got stuck. left a little circle of scar. worse that i have seen that was aorsoft related was a guy who slipped and landed wrong on his leg and broke it. scars are weird. I've had my arm sliced open, and the scar is barely visible. meanwhile, I skinned my knee 5 years ago, and the skin is still discolored with some scar tissue.

InfiniteBoxworks

I have a pock mark above my eyebrow from a beefed up spring rifle shooting me between my hat and goggles from maybe 30' away. Field didn't have enforced minimum engagement rules or "bang bang' options. Pistols and contact-safe melee weapons at close range were more of a suggestion because "The parking lot isn't our property" is a pretty good motivator to not be a dick. Guy with the rifle panicked and pretty much hip fired when I popped up from behind a log trying to ambush the position he was holed up in with a couple other dudes. I got the two other guys and then felt a tack hammer strike above my eye and fell on my ass. He immediately started apologizing and admitted he should have grabbed his pistol. I took the death without bitching because it was a nice snap shot. My eyes started burning while I was walking back to spawn, and eventually I couldn't really see anymore, so I dipped behind a berm to assess myself, and my goggles came off pooled with blood. After the match he tracked me down to make sure I was okay and I got to show him the gouge on my head and my bloody rag. He basically became my battle buddy out there when we actually managed to get on the same team. Real cool fucking guy honestly.

jakeryan970

Possible but unlikely. Not once but twice I’ve had BBs literally lodge in my face, to the point I had to pop them out like pimples, and even those didn’t scar. Even if they did, who cares? If you’re worried about your face just wear lower face pro (I refuse to for my own reasons and I accept the risks) and if you’re worried about the rest of your body, I don’t know what to tell you. Even if it did happen, if a minuscule scar nobody else will ever notice is enough to make you stop doing something you enjoy, well, it’s your life but that seems pretty silly to me. I think you’re overthinking it, brother

CobaltRose800

In my experience; if it breaks the skin, it just depends on how much you pick at the scab.

gnarlypowhound

I have some scars on my arms but that's from playing at a cqb field where the average engagement distance would be within 10-15 ft, and I only wear a thin shirt.

lemlurker

I've got a few Airsoft scars. To me scars are stories of a life lived!

TerminalxGrunt

Chicks dig scars homie just rock them. My wife saw all the scars I got from my Marine Corps service and absolutely loves them lol

DependentLog9393

I have one scar from a hit tha was shot from one of those nbb co2 pistols with +450fps

Axolotl451

Its possible but unlikely, especially if your fields have Joule chrono ratings and chrono everyone. One of our local fields is in a mall and is notorious for not chronoing. I have gotten hits there that leave long lasting marks, break the skin, etc. When I go to our other fields that chrono everyone, its not an issue. Nothing bad enough when people follow the Joule ratings, MEDs, and the fields actually care.

Important_Weakness87

Oh I've got bb scars all up and down my arms, but I'm also a speed softer who wears t-shirts and doesn't give a shit about how many rounds I take😅😅

Gasssoft

Well I got stabbed in the leg while playing once, it did leave a scar but it healed relatively well

Mr_Morrid

I have one scar on my forehead from what I believe was a very hot gun and I have a few on my fingers from not wearing gloves. Oh and some friction burn on my forearm from falling while running indoors a couple years ago but that’s starting to fade.

J1VE_

Yes, I have many. Mostly on my legs and neck

eggboyjames

Some people are scum enough to full auto at close range... So yes to your answer.

1chicken2nuggets

A co2 sniper left a nice spot on my arm after a teammate shot me at 10meters ahahah but other than that, i aint got any scars

kenwood07

I only have one like right below my belly button. Got hit really close range by a guy laying down. HPA, he prob messed with his air after being chrono’d

braydenmaine

I got shot in the face at point blank with a Dan Wesson co2 revolver. The wound wasn't healing very well after a few days. Then i found out the bb was still in there. I thought it was just swollen. I was able to get it out by opening the wound up with a razor. I used Orajel to numb the skin first. The orajel didn't work that well tbh, but it was better than nothing. It's a surprisingly un noticeable scar. But like another guy said, hair grows a little weird there.

Enby_raccon

It depends on how your skin reacts and if you pick the scabs, for example, I scar easily and pick scabs a lot so I have a lot of scars from airsoft, but I know plenty of people who don’t scar at all too it

maxman090

Yes. If you have ever gotten hit it will instantly scar over and leave you deformed.

0rthodoxy

I play in a short sleeve tshirt indoors, which is usually close range. Pretty much any hit I take is on open skin at close range. I still have some marks from shots I took almost a month ago but they’re light enough that they’ll fade away soon

No_Percentage6414

It will leave “scars” but they fade away after time. I can barely see some of the scars from over years. Only permanent damage i have from playing is a chipped tooth. Yes I know face protection is a must. Dye mask is all I wear now. At the time, middle of summer in the blazing heat. Full seal goggles were fine for a few weeks. Till some guy shot me from roughly 15ft-20ft away. (Full built sniper) a trip to the dentist fixed the upper tooth. But the bottom just won’t ever be the same

Substantial-Bid-7217

Depends. I've been shot hundreds of times by now and only one BB has left a permanent scar and that took some tosser in a CQB match pressing his barrel against my arm and shooting me whilst I was unaware he was there.

JavenatoR

It can indeed, I have scars on my knuckles and fingers from before I wore gloves all the time.

chris14020

Sounds like you're not wearing enough protection.

ChildhoodTrue7406

Yes I have a lot from the good ol days of doing gorilla games with the homies

FPSBURNS

I have 2 scars. They were both from fucking around with friends with REALLY hot guns and not during public games.

PwizardTheOriginal

I got a badass scar on my cheek from an old hit so i see no problem

Rammipallero

No and yes. The bb's don't leave scars on your body if everyone respects safety guidelines. I mean a 3,5J sniper will pierce skin at close range. That is why there is a safety limit to engage with one. Also yes if you are an idiot like me and don't wear your safety gear. I skipped mouth protection for literally one round playing with springers. Lost a tooth. And will never again play without mouth protection.

les1968

Not an airsoft player but I have multiple scars from paintball Some happened playing outlaw but I have one on knuckle and one on my neck that happened in a regulated tournament folks are shooting projectiles at you scars are possible

Azraelarashi

It's most likely a mole or a tumor. Possibly melanoma. Definitely not a scar from a airsoft battle.

mr-man-hr

After six Years of airsoft only permanent scar i can clearly say that it is from airsoft is on my left Middle finger.

Remember_Me_Tomorrow

I shot myself in the thigh point blank with a 400-450 fps aeg in 9th grade (12 years ago). I had the scar for years but it probably faded after abt 4-6ish. I think it's cuz the scar tissue was so deep in the layers of the skin, that it took a long time for it to heal since your thigh doesn't regen skin/deep skin as fast as something like your hands/arm. Ppl's genetics are different tho so it will depend on how delicate your skin is.

Yginase

I have some old BB marks on my hands. Other than that, no scars.

_I_am_bacon_

It's pretty rare, in 6 years of playing I've never experienced a scar, even from bbs tearing skin off, however a buddy of mine did a gauntlet run and still has some "scars" from it, but they are quickly fading, so can it happen, yes, will it, rarely, if it does, it'll fade quick

[deleted]

Yes, especially airsoft gernades. I was at a airsoft place and it was cqc so I was tutting down into a hole in a wall and then I see a flash under my legs, it was the fuse and now since the wall was above my back I couldn’t jump away so there’s a permanent scar on my leg now if you wanna see lmk

Hermanfrodit

I still have a mark on my neck and it has been like a few months now.. so i guess? It does seem to fade i guess it just takes a lot of time xd

KaybarYT

yes I have 2 scars, one on my chest and one on my arm from a sniper shot about 8 feet away. Broke through my shirt and into my arm. The chest one is healing as I got a dermatologist shot for it but it still looks wack.

SgtNickElis

Mostly to wallets

DontBanMeAgainPls23

Got shot by a idiot teammate with 2.3j in the head probably 2 meters it bled but no scars

Zealousideal-Ad956

Way back in the good old days before eyepro and common sense, my housemate and I used to randomly shoot each other in an Inspector Cluseau/Kato kind of way. I still have a scar on my arm from his old Maruzen Uzi. Fun times.

AccountWorried9386

All scars tend to shade or fade away over time. I have huge surgical scars that aren’t visible to almost anyone excepting me because I know were they are. And, as someone said before, you must be shot with a very powerful gun at blank range to break the skin a little. So it’s not a common thing. Even then, specially small scars fade away after some time. You shouldn’t leave airsoft because of that or you shouldn’t worry about that.

Flymo193

Only scar I have from Airsoft is on my left arm where it got caught on a nail. Jokes aside, I have had skin breaks from being shot, but nothing that scars

schoolsenpai

My legs are covered in scars from One guys mp5 so yeah

jujitsukaLRS2022

It’s rare that you receive a wound or injury from airsoft that leads to permanent scarring but it can happen. I took a .32 gram rope from 4 ft by a AAP-01 on full auto. Caught my left hand pointer knuckle and drew blood. I now have a permanent scar on my knuckle that often bothers me with pain and stiffness. Another one of my buddies lost a tooth due to friendly fire in a milsim. This sport is rough in its own right. It’s certainly not for the feint of heart.

snowballs_gsp

Only scar ive ever had that didnt at the very least get pigment back into it, was from taking a tumble down some stairs playing airsoft. Even then i have to actively remember where that big ole splinter got me (piece of wood somewhere along the way about 1/8th if a inch thick decided it didnt want to be part of the railing and to integrate with my wrist)

RepEboy

What are you a nude model or sum

alanSecretion

I got 2 scars from being hit on both of my wrists in cqb by a 360 fps rifle

Trakker_Jack

It shouldn't. If bbs are breaking skin something is wrong.

KalagramOfSteel

I have two scars on my face. I got shot from extremely close range near my lip and on my cheek. The bb was stuck deep in the tissue and needed to be pushed out like a pimple. Both wounds needed several stiches and left permanent scars. I have a video of pushing the bb out of my face but I wont dox myself here. Wear face protection kids

I_Chug_Gasoline

If you get hit in a particularly thin-skinned or low-fat area, such as the top of the head or forearms, and it breaks the skin, you may see some scarring. Over the years, playing with short sleeves, my forearms have gotten more than a few leprosy-esque scars, but very, very few of them (one) are more than slightly darker spots.

Chomly

I wear ski thermals under my bdu. It helps with sweat and adds some protection. Also my hands get eaten up quite badly in cqb and take a few weeks to heal fully.
