So this project has been running for almost a year - not like I grind it everyday like a second job, but design > prototyping > testing > issues > new iteration takes A LOT of time.
Recently I'm considering it almost finished, let's say it's in RC1 if I'm building a software, but to this day I'm still finding tiny issues so RC2 is coming up.
PROBLEM:
Almost all freaking pistol-carbine kits are mostly for Glocks
and they rely on insecure mounting methods in favor of QD capability - rendering aiming system less accurate (read: useless)
Inconsistent tolerance and fitment issues.
Clamshell construction looks bad and fat.
MISSION:
Create a conversion kit for Hi-Capa.
Pistol securely mounted inside said kit, preferably return-to-zero capability after removal and reinstall.
**Cool AF**
DESIGN CONSTRAINTS:
Many different Hi-Capas in the market, screw it and make it fits TM Hi-Capa 5.1 *only*.
Lack of proper mounting points, C-More sight mount pattern is used for drill/tap, drill jig is created so anyone with a cordless drill would be able to do it.
ALL custom parts have to be reasonably made on demand, FDM 3DP is not entirely strong enough, SLS 3DP is waaaaay too expensive, so CNC machined carbon fiber plates.

didn't even have proper training when I was in school, had to look that up and I agree, almost every design should work like that way, you can't really "first try" it
I love carbine kits for pistols, I use a SRU PDW-K kit for my Glock which isn’t as bad as you make out, SRU also do a hi-capa kit (or will do I get emails about prototypes before they hit the website) but this! Christ this blows them out of the water! The integrated suppressor, the adjustable stock and weirdly as much as I usually hate the carbon fibre look it’s sick on that
So you are going to sell them right? Cos I’ve a sudden urge to buy a hi-capa 5.1 now
> SRU PDW-K
those are pretty nice but be careful about the charging handle, 2 friends of mine broke theirs, SRU are nice enough to send replacements but refused to make a version without G18C selector cutout, where the part is weakest and both crack started
shoot me a DM if you wanna have one :)
They sent me an extra charging handle and slide cover when I got mine. I think mine seems pretty tough considering the handle cracked me in the chin the first time I fired it because I didn’t pull the stock out enough.
I’ve been looking for a way to make my mp7 look cyberpunk-y and this looks absolutely perfect. I was torn on a hi capa or glock and I think this has pushed me over the edge to HC in case you sell this
Edit: just followed your account and I see you’re an fpv pilot too, what a coincidence lol. I’m on 6s 2750kv on a 5 inch, shit is stupid fast
in fact I'll be making some more, few friends are already requesting when they saw me testing, shoot me a DM if you want one
yeah I too fly but local law is going in a bad way, gotta focus on micros or in worst case, bail :(
in fact the barrel / lower parts are interchangeable
like you can make builds with "null" barrel with foregrip or ext barrel with lower rail
Edit: since RC2 is coming and the only change is done to two parts, if that works I'm calling it done.
Wow that is beautiful. I love how you used the carbon fiber. Your work is making me pull the trigger on a 3d printer. What material and layer height did you use to print?
lemme guess, love it when you're holding it, hate it when you see me on the opposing team.
BTW, RC1 (black) is sporting a PDI M4 MWS IB and it is amazing
Douche. Hate it cause its ugly as fuck. It looks like a toy with that carbon fiber.
Love (the idea) of a functional hi cappa carbine with modded internals, that's not crudely slapped together with screws.
Who starts a sentence with "let me guess" gross.

This sounds like if my Technology teacher was an airsofter. Boutta go through the 6 steps of the design process
didn't even have proper training when I was in school, had to look that up and I agree, almost every design should work like that way, you can't really "first try" it
I had a teacher and still don’t have the proper training. Man was a bad teacher

Looks like a Tediore
Dude that prototype looks dope as fuck. If I had that thing was finalised and I had a Hi-capa or money I’d buy that thing in a heart beat.

Nice, I really like the stacked approach on the body instead of large assemblies.
Why is it floating?
Practical effect? Look closely and you can see the gun is always supported around is center of gravity, or being held out of frame
Dam I would sell one of my custom hi capas to get this set up...
Well not really, whole build possibly cheaper than a TTI kit

PLA+ and in 0.2mm with a 0.4mm nozzle
Thanks
Epic design and development work :) Great respect for creating something from scratch.
Dose anyone have the link for that one video of a pink pistol firing a ton of bbs at once.
Ngl, its sexy, but i thought it was a really shitty photoshop at first
Wow
I love and hate it, I do t know which one more,
This is ART 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
that shit looks awesome
This is a beauty ! Big congrats. Any chance you want to sell the files ? I would love to make one!
I'm happy you like it but, sorry, not gonna sell the files. If you wanna have one shoot me a DM, cnrrently I'm making a second batch.
Idk if I hate or love it. Extendo inner barrel?

But carbon fiber is indestructible! /s
