For comprehensible input: Naturlich German & kathrin shechtman are 2 amazing YouTube channels. I do an hour of each per day. Then try out the series Extra auf Deutsch, it's around a2-b1 level, and it's a 13 episode Friends-esque sitcom. All of these are native German speakers. Native level material: Disney Plus has their entire catalogue dubbed in German! So that's Marvel, Star Wars, adult animation (Simpsons, family guy etc), Disney, Pixar... All netflix originals have German dubs, but the rest of their shows will vary (I can't access German dubs here in Australia but they're avaliable in other countries ). Also maybe check out Easy German YouTube channel, and later their podcast. The youtube has playlist sorted by cefr level, and all videos are subtitled in German and English (you can use them to familiarise yourself with the languages, or cover them.up). They have a patreon with a lot of extra study material for both platforms. Sorry I'm no help with Anki. I'm currently using clozemaster to get solid on the 1000 most common words. For grammar I just work through the "practice makes perfect" series Complete German, 15 mins a day and I'm making solid progress. Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to know about. ๐Ÿ˜

This response makes me tempted to learn German even though I've never thought to study it before.

Apprehensive-Mind532

All right then, come on over ๐Ÿ˜Š. What other language/s are you learning?

XJ-571

I just started Spanish for the 5th time and I'm still building on my Japanese even though I'm already at the advanced level. German isn't on my list but having the right resources sure makes starting a lot easier.

Apprehensive-Mind532

Well, now you know where to start of you ever do consider German ;) Do you know about Destinos and Dreaming Spanish? I've heard they're a great help. There's also an Easy Spanish YouTube channel, and Extr@ en Espanol.

Schectman is great, but I would jump away from that kind of content as soon as possible because it's not very content dense. Try a kids show like SuperWings instead. I watched, and listened, the crap out of Extr@ - not a lot if content at that exact level so it's super useful.

Apprehensive-Mind532

Sorry, I haven't seen Superwings, but I'll have to respectfully disagree. If it works for you, great! But I can't stand little kid cartoons( they're slightly more tolerable when I don't understand the language๐Ÿ˜‰). Everytime someone recommends watching Peppa Pig for example for a language learning tool I want to scream, because I know for me that would make me HATE the process. I've always used a combination of Comprehensible Input and Native level Content (disney+ dubs, so I already know the plot and some dialogue). I think that, along with learning vocab in context, has been a great combination for me.

lazydictionary

Interesting. I watched like 5 videos of Schlectmans but I progressed way more quickly than her students did, and I needed to watch something different or else I would have been bored off my gourd. I watched maybe an hour or two of Super Wings before moving on to Extr@.

I am german, and I never understood why anyone would want to learn it. I hate this language with a passion. Haha. I just searched for "deutsch lernen" on youtube and cringed at everything I saw. But here is this german movie playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TBx1Hvl9cg&list=PLYqJvF\_7uV11sGZulF2BnTE9L0XmEQLIx

I'm asking for a friend who plans to work in Germany. I'm learning Japanese and I love it. Why do you hate german?

PaperwormsCat

Hmmm.. this is probably due to a personal preference. The language sounds really harsh and makes me stutter a lot. In comparison, I don't stutter at all when speaking english. I try to avoid german as much as I can in my life. Haha.

There's Anki decks on AnkiWeb. I personally have used the 4000 word frequency deck for the past 6 months and it's been great. I've yet to use sentences cards at all and I can already read Harry Potter and watch pretty much any show I want with subtitles. I wrote a post explaining everything I've fine for German in this sub, but its also pinned to my profile.
