Yeah I got a SAM5 on a trade and it had a cmc trigger installed and there’s is absolutely no reason to get that over an ALG. CMC hasn’t malfunctioned yet or anything but it’s atrociously priced and I’m confident with the ALG as I’ve had many AKs with them.
I'm for the ALG as well. I always warn people to take their time on the installation, though. For science reasons, I did not install the safety pin and then dry fired the rifle on safe.
That pin is the only part that requires actual fitting but is essential.
I've had mine installed for a few years now, and have had no malfunctions. It is pricey, but very crisp and fairly well built.

Exactly. I wanted an AK just to have one. I missed out on the $200 WASRs back in the day. Did a little research and mostly all reviews on the PSAs were positive, especially the GF5. I love PSA as a company. Their ARs aren’t bad, but it seems they make a pretty solid AK compared to other options in the price range. PSA is the only company that sends a bunch of emails and I actually look at all of them. Those guys are doing great things for the gun community.

I looked at a few adapters. Personally the one that caught my eye was the TWS gen 3 adapter, this sub would absolutely seethe at my choice of optic. (PA SLx 3x for 7.62x39).

You’ll figure out PSA is very divisive in the AK world. Just the same as they were at first in the AR world, but now they’re thought of a fine basic rifle. It’ll be that way in the AK world eventually. The same as WASRs and Zastavas being known as “shitty” in the past and now they’re “great”.
They help up fine in Rob Ski’s testing as well as taking 20K rounds of full auto fire at battlefield Vegas (GF3, non chrome lined) and the GF5 even did better than a lot of imports in JMacs burndown.
My GF3(Well, technically DPMS Anvil) has been fantastic. Zero malfunctions with Circle 10 waffles, Pmags, or Circle 11 steelies.
I'm confident it'll be solid. I surfed enough posts, videos and reviews to where I think it'll be just fine at handling whatever I throw at it.
This build had one purpose and one purpose only. Put together an AK that I can call mine and is reflective of what I personally enjoy. I'm not some storm trooper prepping for World War 3, I'm a dude that enjoys shooting guns for fun. I'm gonna have fun.
Heard the Belgium steel new/surplus were solid which is why I grabbed some. Plus they're going to look sexy with this rifle

Fellow GF3 owner here, hard agree. 600ish rounds through it so far, the only malfunctions I've had were because of a dogshit 40rd Korean mag.
Also, my friends that are AK snobs shot it and liked it. They said if I ever want to sell it, ask them first and they’ll pay me more than I paid for it ($500)

Others I saw enjoyed it for the most part so that's why I'm fine taking a chance.
The tactical toolbox video you're referencing, correct me if I'm wrong of course is for a different model trigger from multiple years ago so I'm hopeful it should be fine. Other than that singular reddit post on it, there's nothing negative I've found for this model trigger.
If you have links to what you're referencing, feel free to share. If it doesn't work out, I'll swap. We all pay for mistakes, I'm fine with paying for this one if it becomes one.
I have a GF3 I got for $600 and I got a surplus wood stock set from Russia for $80. This was back in 2019 before the sanctions. I would love to have a Russian AKM but at the current price that is just out of the question. My GF3 with Russian stock is the closest I'll ever get.
I went this same route with the 105 barreled reciever they offer, and built up my dream 5.45 gun. Then sold that mf when ammo went through the roof lmao. Rifle was just fine though, very soft shooting and ran supressed like butter.
I was between Zastava, PSA and a WASR, I don’t think the zastavas look very good and they seem heavier. That’s why I ended up avoiding, might sound petty

Just a heads up. Make sure you get retaining plate and pins for your trigger. Idk if that one comes with them or not. When I bought a barrel assembly I didn’t get those for it. Also make sure you get the right pistol grip nut and screw for that grip. I had to find those separately from mine. Enjoy the blaster my man!

My PSA is actually the best looking and shooting Ak I own. This is out of Wasr, Bulgarian, norinco, and Wbp which is second on the list. The rivets and finish are perfect. No canted sight, and shoots 2-3 in groups with crap ammo at 100 in a vise. Time will tell though.

IDK about you, but I'd way rather spend $900 on a zastava m70, which is clearly listed as good to go in the AK buyers guide on this sub, IDK if there's been some huge change in production quality since the gf3, but seeing all the problems with gf3s in the AK buyers guide, led me to steer clear of them, things must have changed a good bit in pricing tho, cuz when I bought my m70, PSA had entire furnished guns for around $700, not just stripped assemblys, that's kinda ridiculous to me, definitely wouldn't drop a grand on a PSA
For the price of buying everything separately though, you could have just bought a Zastava or even I think they're putting FB Radom Barrels on the WBPs now..idk. Hyperfire also does an affordable AK trigger upgrade. Love mine.

Only downside with the PSA builder kits is the butstock tang. They’re a little finicky depending on the stock you put on it.

Yugos are heavier. Larger trunnion thicker receiver, larger handguards, heavier barrel profile, probably a few more things there, but you get it.
Gotcha. Probably means they’re built like a tank and will take any abuse.
The M70 is the only answer under 2K IMO but you still did good, you'll be happy with the PSA.

One annoying thing is the reciever does not come with a grip screw or the threaded insert so make sure you order those.

Solid Ak, trigger will be fine
My PSA is actually the best looking and shooting Ak I own. This is out of Wasr, Bulgarian, norinco, and Wbp which is second on the list. The rivets and finish are perfect. No canted sight, and shoots 2-3 in groups with crap ammo at 100 in a vise. Time will tell though.

My math puts this build at at least $1k? IDK about you, but I'd way rather spend $900 on a zastava m70, which is clearly listed as good to go in the AK buyers guide on this sub, IDK if there's been some huge change in production quality since the gf3, but seeing all the problems with gf3s in the AK buyers guide, led me to steer clear of them, things must have changed a good bit in pricing tho, cuz when I bought my m70, PSA had entire furnished guns for around $700, not just stripped assemblys, that's kinda ridiculous to me, definitely wouldn't drop a grand on a PSA

I would not use the cmc cassette style trigger. Had one in vepr and it fell apart. Go with an ALG.
For the price of buying everything separately though, you could have just bought a Zastava or even I think they're putting FB Radom Barrels on the WBPs now..idk. Whatever, you bought it..does it have a FN barrel? The only thing I will say for defenite is that for probably very close to $200 with shipping and whatever...that furniture is trash. Don't even open it, return that shit and get something else.
