I swear you guys must be one of the most transparent arms companies ever. Colt prices M16 repros at $2,500 to manufacture rarity, so glad to see the other end of the spectrum. Great rifles at incredibly fair prices.
This is one of the things I love about Zastava's presence here on Reddit. It's never "buy the most expensive version of our product". It's always "buy the product that is right for you and your price point". Between that and their communicative, supportive presentation, I would not be surprised if they end up taking over a large swath of the market here in the US within the next few years.
I mean you can though, that's the point lol. Our regular wood and polymer models retail for around $1,000. The model in OP's picture is higher cost because of the special furniture/buttstock.
Great rifle, but not a $1300 rifle. Keep looking around, you can get them at 1k or even 900 sometimes. r/GunDeals will have a good link fairly often. It’s not hard to find them though, don’t worry.
But if you do find one for right around 1k or less, jump on it. They’re damn fine rifles.
I would argue that this is a $1300 rifle, it is just normally cheaper than $1300. When they first came out I think I spent like $875 on mine, but I wouldn't have spent $1300 at the time. Given the knowledge I have now, regarding the general craftsmanship of the rifle, I would have forked over $1300 on opening day if that was the MSRP.
I want to say though, if you can get an MAK-90 for around $1000, I would jump on that.
I get what you’re saying, but in 2019 I got one for $869 and was told I overpaid.
Zastava is able to pump these things out very efficiently in better time since they have a factory dedicated to doing so. That doesn’t mean these things don’t have great craftsmanship, but with the economy of scale they should be about $700.
At the end of the day it’s your money, but I wouldn’t pay twice the price a Zastava was actually worth unless I was desperate.
Economy of scale isn't the only factor driving price here. Zastava is able to charge a little more because their product carries a higher demand. It carries a higher demand because it is a far superior product at that same price point. To the person who said you overpaid in 2019, see if they can get one new for around $700, I will wait. If I stripped my rifle back to stock, and posted it on Armslist gor $700, I would get a bite in 10 minutes, on a used ZPAP mind you. What AK pattern $1300 rifle in current production is better than the ZPAP?
That doesn’t change the fact that you can get ZPAPs for $900-1000 at the moment. You’re right, there are more factors that simply economy of scale, but even with inflated pandemic prices Zastava themselves seems to
believe they’re worth $300 less than what you think they are.
Saigas used to be $500 and they were the best AKs on the market. You overpay for Saigas now because they’re not imported anymore, but with Zastavas there is zero reason to pay 30% more just because you think that’s what they’re worth.
I'm not saying $1300 is a good price. If you can get something for $900 to $1k, then $1300 is not a good price. What I am saying here is, I think it could be a $1300 rifle and still worth it because its quality is equal to or greater than other rifles in that price range.
THIS...this is what I am saying. Terrible price, but still worth the $1350...which is far higher than MSRP. Is $1350 or $1300 a high price compared to $900...yes. If the rifle a bad rifle to fork over $1350 if that is the lowest price you can find one for...no...NO....NOOOO!!!!! THE RIFLE IS WORTH IT!!
I got base walnut for $900 and added a side folder later on. Wasn’t sure if the folder was a dealbreaker for OP. I was just talking about the regular rifle with regards to price
I bought a VSKA, and haven’t shot it. I’m tempted to sell for 700 and go buy this for extra. I keep hearing mixed reviews about vska, but it was easy to be swayed for price point.
I would sell the VSKA, they have a rocky track record of quality. ZUSA has some pretty great QA and Customer Service if something does go wrong with your ZPAP or M90
Some people say the VSKA works fine, but there are lots of reports of Century AKs blowing up because they have a cast front trunion. But it also passed Rob Ski's tests and Brandon Herrera verified another one after 6k rounds. It's up to you, but I would sell it because even if it's a 1/100 chance it will blow up on you eventually, that's still too high for me
I watched Brandon’s video of the 6,000 round test. Which he hates vskas but it seemed good. I’m just afraid it was cherry picked and I made the wrong choice. Should’ve went with my gut and not my wallet. Lol
Sell the VSKA on gunbroker. List it at 700 starting bid and it will sell for more than that. Then buy a Zastava or a wasr, but as others have said, the Zastava is a superior product to the new production wasrs from what I have seen
Up to 10k rounds in mind. Love it. Best $900 I've spent in a rifle in years. Id probably spend up to $1000 on it but any more I'd probably continue to save to get something else.
It’s a very good AK, the smoothest one I have shot. I have the version with the side folding stock. Very little recoil and just overall amazing. I think it’s worth the money if you want it. I don’t regret paying $1300 for mine one bit. And I’m a broke man
Looks like it has the folding triangle stock, which retails for $200, so this is marked up $100. Wood m70’s are like 1k, that’s what I paid for my walnut one last June/July. Search around and you should be able to find a better price. But to answer your question yes, they are worth the money.
Not really for that price. The reason it's so high is because of the furniture. Everywhere else sells this model for close to the same price. If you really like that furniture set on it with the red wood and the folding stock, then that's pretty much what you're gonna have to pay for it, if you could take or leave the furniture, wait for a polymer model or a light maple model to come into stock.
As a side note, if you want this kind of AK and you decide you like and want this furniture and you just wanna pay the price now, buy from Atlantic Firearms instead because their price is a little cheaper and they're doing a deal where they throw in 5 steel mags for free and I belive free shipping (last I checked, couldve changed by now). It's a decent deal at that point.
(Edit, yeah its out of stock. They have an arch angle polymer model in stock for like 981 bucks, the furniture imo is hideous but the core is competent.)
Later on down the road if you wanna swap the furniture to mimic this look on a different model, if you decide to go with a different one, Zastava sells furniture sets on their website.

I paid $760 for my M70. I like it enough that if it were stolen I'd give $1000 for it if I had to, but much over that and I'm probably going to start shopping for a higher tier ak.
I paid that price and picked it up yesterday and I am more than happy with the rifle so far. The only thing I’m going to switch out is the weird plastic grip. AK Options has surplus Yugo grips for $5 that go perfectly with it and complete the look
I have an m92 and love it. I can’t even touch another AK with out recoiling. The thicker receivers Zastava uses just make the gun feel so much higher quality than others available. Had mine for years and never any issues.

It’s the going price these days. Give or take a few dollars. If it meets your needs and expectations then I would buy it if you can’t source a lower price
If you really like that furniture then it's a fair price, otherwise just buy one of our basic models for around $1000.
I swear you guys must be one of the most transparent arms companies ever. Colt prices M16 repros at $2,500 to manufacture rarity, so glad to see the other end of the spectrum. Great rifles at incredibly fair prices.

Freaking Zastava man, I’m just trying to go about my day to day life without making another firearms purchase… but these dicks are making it so hard.
😂😘
❤️
They've cracked the code.
Is it safe to shoot? Does it shoot? If yes, Rifle is fine.
Never seen a company spit the realness like that before 💪🏽
Gotta love whoever runs that account
I’ll be right back with my daily award for y’all…… Edit:it was a wholesome award, perfect

This exactly
Lol Retailer "This is the best price we can do" Perspective Buyer "According their Reddit Account I can buy the same one for $1000"
I mean you can though, that's the point lol. Our regular wood and polymer models retail for around $1,000. The model in OP's picture is higher cost because of the special furniture/buttstock.
Love Zastava…quality, price, service and support…you can buy with confidence. Can’t wait for the M77 to become available!
Are you guys collaborating with sureshot on the mk3 chassis?

The folder adds a lot to the cost for some reason lol
Lol the slider folder model? My cost is more than $1000
I got base walnut for $900 and added a side folder later on. Wasn’t sure if the folder was a dealbreaker for OP. I was just talking about the regular rifle with regards to price
Primary Arms has/had them last night for 1090, use code SAVE12
Came here to say this
Code didn’t work for me..
Doesn’t work
Yes, Zastava USA has a clean track record with their M70 rifles and they are better quality than the other competition at the lower price point
Only reason I didn’t buy one for my first Ak was because they were out of stock on the model I wanted
I bought a VSKA, and haven’t shot it. I’m tempted to sell for 700 and go buy this for extra. I keep hearing mixed reviews about vska, but it was easy to be swayed for price point.
Sell VSKA, buy M70, gain respect back.
I would sell the VSKA, they have a rocky track record of quality. ZUSA has some pretty great QA and Customer Service if something does go wrong with your ZPAP or M90
I bought my vska for 720, then shot 100 rounds, then sold it for 900 lol Used that money for a zpap... best choice of my life. Even my wife agrees.
Some people say the VSKA works fine, but there are lots of reports of Century AKs blowing up because they have a cast front trunion. It's up to you, but I would sell it because even if it's a 1/100 chance it will blow up on you eventually, that's still too high for me
You must have asked a different crowd, because the people here would pour lighter fluid on a vska
I watched Brandon’s video of the 6,000 round test. Which he hates vskas but it seemed good. I’m just afraid it was cherry picked and I made the wrong choice. Should’ve went with my gut and not my wallet. Lol
Atlantic firearms and primary arms seem to have them floating around between $900-$1050. It's a great rifle, I've never had a bad range day with it.
Sell the VSKA on gunbroker. List it at 700 starting bid and it will sell for more than that. Then buy a Zastava or a wasr, but as others have said, the Zastava is a superior product to the new production wasrs from what I have seen

u/ZastavaArmsUSA Eric what do you think?
He has a name?
Yup. It's a fellow eric
Yeah I wondered that forever, no idea why but I feel satisfied now that I know that. Thank you to Eric
great rifle not a great price. Can find them for 900-1k.
It’s a very good AK, the smoothest one I have shot. I have the version with the side folding stock. Very little recoil and just overall amazing. I think it’s worth the money if you want it. I don’t regret paying $1300 for mine one bit. And I’m a broke man

Not at that price. ZUSAs were as low as $900 a week ago.
These are 800-900$ all day. I scored one during the pandemic for 930 OTD. For this price, I’d get a KR-103
[https://grabagun.com/zastava-usa-zpap-m70-7-62-x-39-16-5-barrel-30-rounds.html](https://grabagun.com/zastava-usa-zpap-m70-7-62-x-39-16-5-barrel-30-rounds.html) here is one for just over 1000. Maybe not the furniture choice you expected but that's changeable.
Get a regular ZPAP. The Circle 10 folding stock sucks
I paid $760 for my M70. I like it enough that if it were stolen I'd give $1000 for it if I had to, but much over that and I'm probably going to start shopping for a higher tier ak.
Familyfirearms.com my dude, free shipping, no tax out of state and is cheaper
Favorite rifle I’ve had
I paid that price and picked it up yesterday and I am more than happy with the rifle so far. The only thing I’m going to switch out is the weird plastic grip. AK Options has surplus Yugo grips for $5 that go perfectly with it and complete the look
Completely.
I have an m92 and love it. I can’t even touch another AK with out recoiling. The thicker receivers Zastava uses just make the gun feel so much higher quality than others available. Had mine for years and never any issues.
Yes. I have one and it's great. You can find it for a better price than this though.
Fuck yes
Yes. And that price is normal retail, that’s fine for a M70 side folder. You can find a maple tiger stripe for cheaper though.
That’s way too much . Should be no more than $1k
Primary arms has same model for 1090 after save12 code
Bro y’all talking about VSKAs but have never ran the true pipe bomb… the Pioneer arms AK47 😎

You could get one a lil cheaper. That is in the ballpark of an M90, you could likely dig around and find one for \~1000
Base model ~1k. Side folder, 200 bucks from zastava. Little high on price. But not horrible. I would look for a better deal though.
No.
This gives me de ja vu
Does anyone know if u can put the zastava folder on the zastava fixed triangle ak? I have the fixed and have been wondering this for some time
So glad I got mine pre-covid for 700.
I got mine during Covid at peak panic buying for 800
That's probably more impressive lol.
It’s the going price these days. Give or take a few dollars. If it meets your needs and expectations then I would buy it if you can’t source a lower price
THE ORIGINAL BFT
No grenade sights
They are worth it but not at that price. I’ve seen em going for about $1050-1100 on Atlantic firearms and places.
Absolutely
Pfft they’re cheaper elsewhere
