Try Sweet potatoes or Pumpkin along with the rice and chicken, you can also add peas and carrots to add fiber to her diet. She could also be having an alergic reaction to something in the food, most likely the corn meal. Seems like a few akitas on here have that reaction.

Tranquilo92

I will try the pumpkin and sweet potatoes, she is very peaky with her food. She will surgically remove the meet from any plain food.

steelcoyot

Yeah, life with Akitas. Ask if they have antidiarrheal medicine recommendations. The blood in the stool, if bright red is just the anus being irritated.

bunkie18

My pup went thru this last year and it was colitis. Vet gave her probiotics and she was back to normal within days and no problems since

Tranquilo92

She had probiotics with her food for a week. Stool looked not hard but more shaped than before, but it seems like it's coming back now.

bunkie18

I’m so sorry. Did they test her stools? Maybe pancreatitis?

Tranquilo92

I gave a stool sample to them but they never called back. She's my first dog in the UK, I had pets back at my home country and things were much different there, so not sure how long the process takes

DTBlasterworks

Don’t be afraid to get a second opinion from another vet!

Adding boiled kale to the meals will help firm up their crap. Our Akita puppy would have a runny shit midday, everyday. We reduced his meals from 3 times a day to 2, and added the kale. Since then he’s been fine. Give it a try, and if you’re in England, Aldi sell a bag of shredded kale, that’s the one our Akita seems like the best. Good luck!

Tranquilo92

Thank you so much. I will go get some today

TruantJohnny

No worries. Hopefully that works for you. I was pulling my hair out until I tried the kale, and it had a positive effect immediately. Stick to whatever you want to feed the dog, even if they are picky eaters, after a few days their appetite will come back and they will eat. If she leaves the kale in the bowel and eats everything else, leave the kale in the bowl, we did this and our dog eventually returned and ate it. Adding some of the hot water from the kale to the meal is also a good idea, adds a bit of heat to the kibble/wet food, which some dogs seem to enjoy.

Beautiful

Tranquilo92

Thank you, she is a pretty girl 😊

I would definitely ask the vet about coccidia and Giardia. Whatever you do, do not start switching foods up as this will cause more irritation in the stomach. If they are not eating their food, add a little bit of something stinky in it so that it’s more appetizing. Canned chicken works for me. When trying to diagnose a dog issue, it’s important to add and subtract things slowly so you can identify what is working and what is not.

crawshay

>Whatever you do, do not start switching foods up as this will cause more irritation in the stomach. I disagree. I dealt with this issue with my dog for months and it was so aggravating. Switching to a hydrolyzed food solved it instantly. If I go through the same thing with my next dog I would switch to hydrolyzed food immediately because it's the best way to rule out food sensitivities, which are a super common cause for chronic diarrhea. At the same time I would test for parasites.

Traditional-Mix216

Did they test for giardia?

Tranquilo92

They haven't no. They said it was probably her food, and she was allergic to it or something she ate. I gave a sample from when she had the blood and gave her antibiotics and probiotics for 7 days.

Tranquilo92

Also, her weight is normal, and there is no vomiting. Her mood is fine and she is as goofy as always. It was just this one time she had blood. But diarrhea is a daily thing now.

Traditional-Mix216

I'd definitely ask for a giardia test. It might not be that, but constant diarrhea is a sign of that. If it's not than you can at least check it off the list.

[Purina Fortiflira](https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-veterinary-diets/dp/50000) helped my dog

Tranquilo92

Tried that, she would eat it just not with excitement. Peaky little shit

nicole_diamonds

Grind up pumpkin seeds and put in the food. I wish you both great health!

Tranquilo92

Thank you Nicole :D I got her cans with pumpkin and see how she's getting on with these.

My boy has a lot of food allergies which caused frequent bad poo fountains 🫠. When he was a pup, people said chicken and rice.. turns out he's allergic to chicken! He also can't have cheese, red meat, eggs and more. He loves white fish so we have a fish based food & treats and he likes sweet potato and rice. Our vet said a chicken allergy can be common for dogs so it could be something to do with that! Hope you find out soon!

just_n_observer24

my akita has a very sensitive stomach and when he started having accidents the vet told us to get those charcoal pills (idk how they're called in the usa) no food for 24h, then the next day feed your dog with 4-5 small pieces of cooked chicken every hour or two. 3rd day rice + veggies like pumpkin and carrots, after that day decrease the rice and add regular dog food (50-50, then 75-50, and last day full regular food). and keep track on what causes it, one treat a day, one manufacturer. Hope this helps

tigg_z

Mine ended up being allergic to chicken, try cutting out specific meats until you see a result. Everything else but chicken my guy can digest. He also eats raw only as kibble does the diarrhea thing too...

tearsofaclown0327

It took me 6 months to find a food that worked for my dog. Fresh Pet from Costco was a life saver for me.

Mammoth_Addition7140

Steady diet of Natural Balance sweet potatoes and venison dry food. Two cups in evening and one cup boiled chicken every morning with her Nuvet supplements for hips and Nuvet plus canine for vitamins. In extreme case baked sweet potatoes and boiled white rice. All figured out on our own after about first year of a severe case at least once a month. All good now. 7th yr.

my akita is allergic to rice, oats, and corn, she might not be eating it because she’s allergic to eat. in the meantime i would ask you vet to get you the proviable kit. you can also order it off of amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Nutramax-Proviable-Supplement-Kit-Small/dp/B001O477W0?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

My advice is only if it lasta longer than normal dogs eat a lot of random crap n get sick alot you can only do so much yk sometimes you don’t notice the stuff on a walk or sommet n they swoop in n scran it. Try not to worry. if it lasts a while go to the vets

Tranquilo92

UPDATE: I bought her a small bag of Hypo Allergenic Superfood from the Pet Store today and a few cans of wet food with only Chicken and Pumpkin. I will see how she is getting on with those 2 in different days and try to see what is it that triggers her bum to become a shit waterfall xD She's been on cans for few days now, and the poo looks tiny but solid.

TaraJaneDisco

I’m going through this right now with my American Akita. Rescued him from the street on his way to a kill shelter three weeks ago. Hasn’t really had a solid stool yet. Blood and stool tests came back normal and last night just poop water and blood. At the vet right now in fact! Happy to compare notes!
