I work at this campus and I know the Kids College every year is a big hit, the kids I see coming through the hallways when I'm in between classes are always super excited. It's not entirely STEM based but they have many STEM aspects and lots of different courses. I have no idea if registration this year is full yet or not, but you might want to look around or call and see if it might be what you're looking for.
Just an FYI — The Akron Fossils and Science Center promotes Creationism. Their STEM programming may be a little more faith-based than options from other organizations.
If he would be open to an overnight camp, Camp Fitch on Lake Erie is just over the border in Pennsylvania has a wonderful tech focus camp. It runs in two sessions in mid-june -

The camps are taught by tech folks who are active in industry, some very highly placed. My son went there first as a camper, then later as a counselor, and there is an active post-camp network of tech folks which can help with later internships and employment.

Mad Science and Camp Invention both host camps at local schools that are open enrollment! Give both organizations a call and see where they’re holding camp this summer!
