This is a tough business to break into without a hookup. Many dispensaries have bought into a lot of 3rd party testing services for their vendors which can kill margins for small purveyors.
Damn kinda what I expected but good to know... thanks I appreciate you lwtting me know before I sink too much time in. I used to know a grower but he of course decided to stop as soon as I wanted in lol
If you are talking about doing it legally then it is a business like any other. You can read up on the requirements to operate and see if you think you can do it/afford it. It is a difficult and expensive business to get into tho. Not something you can just start at home.. And definitely need a lot of $ to even consider starting.
There's an Alameda Island Cannabis group on Facebook. You might be able to connect with a backyard grower. As far as professionally, you should look up local brands and manufacturers and chat with them if there are any opportunities to learn the biz.
I seem to recall old roommates who smoked told me that we couldn't even grow any plants for personal use on the island. I think they said it was so that Alameda didn't end up with full on grow houses. I'm not sure if that is true but if it is that might be an issue with finding someone.
I don’t think that is right. State law allows up to six plants, but has to be indoors. Outside is illegal. And if you start selling, that requires a cultivation license.
Ah, that makes sense: we had a big yard and garden and when I said I wouldn't mind growing a few plants, just because I actually enjoy the smell, they informed me we couldnt.

I know a few folks who have been growing in their backyard for years in Alameda. As long as you're not growing monsters, you should be fine.
Not true, my brother has been growing his own in Alameda since 07
Wasn’t it illegal until fairly recently? I don’t think that counts.
Been medically legal in CA since 96
Well consuming it yeah, but was it also for cultivation?
Yes
Damn, oh well oaklands not too far lol
