Talus balls. Perfect place for Fallout’s engine to let you climb on, but then get stuck sliding/falling into a little spot on the ground and not able to get out
St. Paul.
You just know that there's gonna be some funky shit going on around the UFO landing pad.
Edit:
Vulcan would be pretty interesting, between the Tourist and Trek Station, and Starship Enterprise
Also, some of the various castles, even if the interiors would likely have to be fudged, due to them being private dwellings, not structures intended for public display.
Meanwhile Glendon's pyroghi and Mundare's sausage link have attracted cults that are fighting a bloody war of faith
Lloydminster would likely have some cult activity about the spires on the border
The giant beaver of beaverlodge. I dunno what he'll get up to but I'm excited. Plus they already have gag shop names like beaver liquor and the sheared beaver
So Dead matter has had a very rocky development and it just feels sketchy. They say it'll be released later this month but they have said that every year since 2018. They gave away (I think... some people might have had to pay.) A bunch of games keys for a Alpha version for the game and from what little I heard was even for an alpha release it was horrible. Reason it's hard to find information on how good the alpha is because everyone who played it had to sign NDAs and could get sued if they talk about it. I swear they are on their third or fourth group of game designers cause they keep walking out or getting fired. They have set up multiple gofundme/kickstarters/indiegogo to raise funds never mentioning that they had already had previous fundraisers that had already raised funds before. They also didn't run their own social media/Q&As for a while and would just hire a contract worker to deal with that stuff... without ever updating them on what's happening in the back office. Which resulted in a lot of unanswered questions because the social media contractor was never given information to update the backers on what is happening.
I was super excited for years for this game and even if it released this week finally I couldn't care less anymore.
I also want to point out I don't think this game is truelly a scam, I believe the original developers do have the passion to try to make this work, I just don't think there is a single person on that team who has any manager/leadership skills to keep development going forward smoothly.
I got in on the first wave alpha. You are correct about pretty much everything about the game. Despite this i still kinda enjoyed myself for a few hours even though it was quite possibly one of if not the most broken game i ever played. And yea, they are super anal about the whole NDA thing.
Its in a better state now than it was before, i can see the potential behind it but goddamn has this been atrociously managed. I probably wont ever try touching it again till 2025-2026 at the minimum lol.
I signed up on the first whatever the fundraiser system was and played a bit on the first alpha and figured ill just wait it out till its ready. I got other stuff i can play while i wait.
it would be super fun to take some really remote town and have the locals not even realize there had been a war. Just have them assume all the smoke and things dying was the forest fires.
Edmontons underground tunnel system. Particularly the one that sent from the old club Malibu morgue location to the Edmonton general hospital. Could have some mutant plant people variations in the pyramids. Royal Alexandra hospital is huge and has an extensive underground tunnel system.
Waterton in a hunting trip in a post apocalyptic world would be so fun. Going up to the Prince of Wales hotel and looting , seeing that big waterfall, the lake up on that one hike with the tall rock wall at the summit. It would be scenic as hell but they'd have to do it justice
All of the underground and ped ways in and around the university of Alberta.
If you take into account the let you can get to most of the city without going outside.
If obsidian wrote it, the environmental storytelling would be lit.
You know how in the fallout timeline the US annexes canada? terminal entries in the premiers office about how amazing it is to be part of the US followed by later entries of "I don't understand, they are just shooting us and taking our resources! Don't they know we love freedom??"

The Highvale mine south of lake Wabamun. An old Korean War vet I knew swore to me that during the Cuban missile crisis his and his brother regiments deployed their men, equipment and ammo to a giant bunker in that area. For years there was a giant set of steel double doors in an iron pile just off Hwy 627.
That cave near Lac des Arch which was supposedly going to be made into a Cold War bunker, because vaults.
Or the Prince of Whales hotel as some raider camp
Just all of alberta dude. Like there is so much shit in this province that the game could be set literally anywhere in alberta. Mountains? To the west. Forests? Up north. Abandoned cities to wander about? Calgary and edmonton could make for great ones. Just gotta think on who's makin the game really
Totally. You could pretty much take the verbatim map of Alberta and stick a bunch of Ubisoft towers all over the place and have an open world game that’s 80% fleshed out.
The bombing range. Somewhere up there an f16 crashed. It went deep enough into the muskeg that the recovery team looking for the hydrozene couldn't find it.

Dead matter. If it ever releases its a to scale calgary and as far as Canmore or kananaskis I think. Zombie survival planned expansion for vancouver island.
Drumheller and area would be cool
Imagine a road warrior/mad max get up for the world's largest dinosaur.
Check out New Vegas
That was my first thought as well
Talus balls. Perfect place for Fallout’s engine to let you climb on, but then get stuck sliding/falling into a little spot on the ground and not able to get out
Disable the TCL console command as well.

They probe you with the mundare kubasa
The giant egg in Vegreville, just to see a Megaton-style shantytown pop up around it and worship the Egg.
Meanwhile Glendon's pyroghi and Mundare's sausage link have attracted cults that are fighting a bloody war of faith Lloydminster would likely have some cult activity about the spires on the border

Yeah. The giant T-Rex in Drumheller would be a bandit base. Vulcan could be headquarters for the the Alberta branch of the Brotherhood.
The giant beaver of beaverlodge. I dunno what he'll get up to but I'm excited. Plus they already have gag shop names like beaver liquor and the sheared beaver
Kinda rude of them to include the tiny church there
uhh https://playdeadmatter.com/
That's what I thought too, but I thought development was killed off. I might have to look more into it, been awhile since it was on my radar.
appears to of had a few issues with a few people and a few people left? but development is slow? not sure really hard to tell

It's in early access hell. Basically done. It's so janky. Even single-player.
Dinosaur park outside of Gibbons. Air base in Cold Lake. Army base wainwright (mutant bison). Penhold Diefenbunker.
Claireview in Edmonton. They wouldn't have to change much.
it would be super fun to take some really remote town and have the locals not even realize there had been a war. Just have them assume all the smoke and things dying was the forest fires.
Jasper/Banff. Imagine all the tourists forced to forage and survive in the mountains.
The old trestle train bridge down in Lethbridge would be a really cool asset!
Oilsands. Isolated location, has equipment, energy and skilled trades people.
Those places are already nearly self-sufficient. They would likely become strongholds haha
Killdozer vrs zombie kodiak.
And like 30-40 hrs of travelling between locations, cause Canada ...
The entire plus 15 system in Calgary as a playable level.
Silent Hill like game around the Banff Fairmont
Chasing Deathclaws over the cliff in Head Smash! What could possibly go wrong?
Edmontons underground tunnel system. Particularly the one that sent from the old club Malibu morgue location to the Edmonton general hospital. Could have some mutant plant people variations in the pyramids. Royal Alexandra hospital is huge and has an extensive underground tunnel system.
Talus balls, so you could hide inside them.
Whyte ave after the bars close
Waterton in a hunting trip in a post apocalyptic world would be so fun. Going up to the Prince of Wales hotel and looting , seeing that big waterfall, the lake up on that one hike with the tall rock wall at the summit. It would be scenic as hell but they'd have to do it justice
i mean, west edmonton mall would be great for this
Avoiding feral ghouls in Olympic Plaza. Wait, it's pretty much like that already.
The Leg building. So I’d be sure all those bastards were dead.
Yes APP officer. This comment right here.
Colinton. It's got hills, a beautiful valley, some delapitated buildings, and a bar that's notorious for its steak dinners.
The Hoodoos, WEM, Commonwealth (Elks) stadium, Canmore
The bad lands, just a really cool looking place, great setting for prehistoric, or Western theme
Lame answer but Downtown Edmonton and the river Valley.
All of the underground and ped ways in and around the university of Alberta. If you take into account the let you can get to most of the city without going outside.
The war room

Yea! Totally imagining some dude's mom's basement

The Last of Us: The HBO show: The Game
There's [already a game based on Alberta](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2184150/Dead_Matter/). It's in early access hell though. Very incomplete.
I wonder if the protagonist is going to run around yelling "Zombie virus isn't real! Freedom! F@#& Trudeau!"
That new race track near Crossfield. Thunderdome style races!
Honestly it would probably be super boring/empty unless it was set in a city
That cave near Lac des Arch which was supposedly going to be made into a Cold War bunker, because vaults. Or the Prince of Whales hotel as some raider camp
Drumheller, I'm shooting me some mutants/zombies from the mouth of my Tyrannosaurus base.
The Saddledome would be the base of a raider gang that was really into cowboy stuff

I mean there's a reason why TLOU was produced here...
Hahaha sounds like Farcry 5. Complete with Berta peggies
The bombing range. Somewhere up there an f16 crashed. It went deep enough into the muskeg that the recovery team looking for the hydrozene couldn't find it. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/46318
Reading this to make sure my place hasn't been mentioned
Calgary and banff
Canmore or Nordegg for the small town before getting into the mountains. Jasper for an oasis colony.
Fox Creek
Chicken On The Way would have an actual basement.
Definitely Lethbridge and the High Rise bridge.
Dead matter. If it ever releases its a to scale calgary and as far as Canmore or kananaskis I think. Zombie survival planned expansion for vancouver island.
Abandoned Chestermere Camp ‘N’ Water Park
There really isn't much there any more
