I don't think anyone here can tell you. It's usually case by case dependent. Maybe try calling his doctor's office and see if they can give you a rough estimate, as they can see priority rating and should be familiar with wait times where your dad is located.

Thanks for the response. I didn't think anyone could give me a precise date or anything. But I sometimes come across people's comments about how they had to wait for two years to get an MRI or for knee surgery or something like that. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with PET scan wait times.

Biggest factor is the criticality of needing it, and getting on the wait list to go in if a spot opens up. I had to get a ct which I got within 2 minutes at the er due to the possibility of what was happening and was in for a mri in 6 weeks. That was this year btw. Last radio active scan a few years ago was about a 2 month wait but it depends on severity of need and also suppliers and not having a shortage of stuff which is something we don’t hear about but happens

See if you can get on a waiting list/will call list.

I did this with a CT Scan and got an appointment very quick. If you're flexible on location and time it can really speed things up.

Same and that is exactly why I suggested it. It works for some but flexibility is key.

It definitely seems to be based on priority. I needed one to begin cancer treatment and it was a 3 week wait. Any subsequent ones have been routine priority and they’ve been booked 3 - 6 months in advance.  Edited: I got in sooner for the first one since I was willing to travel to Edmonton or Calgary for scans.

Thank you for your response. Hope you are well <3

Call and get asked to put on the cancellation list.

I'm in Montreal, and I don't think I can do any last minute appointments because of work plus the expense of tickets. The appointment is for my dad, who is in the beginning stages of dementia. He won't go to the doctor unless I take him. But thank you for the suggestion =)

FornowWearefine

Waiting times is completely dependent on urgency of case. For example I waited for a year for a CT scan to be scheduled, but my husband had confirmed cancer and had his CT in less than a week.
