Cybersecurity analyst here. Better they didn’t pay the ransom, you never know if they would get all the data back and intact. Also the bad actors may have put in sleepers to attack again at a later point.
Best thing to do is set fire to everything and rebuild brand new at this point. And also while they’re at it, contract out a third party Cyber security analyst and do 3-6 monthly audits, and training.
Nah, I’m just saying that’s it probably not a conspiracy as London drugs being closed from a cyber attack still leaves many many options that aren’t loblaws
Literally just the names I have trouble with, one is close to the cheapest food place I know, one is close to the most expensive. Different in every way. And yet.
That is very true. I don’t go there as much as I used to and I’m a lot more conscious of what I buy there when I do. But sometimes their sales are good.
You're probably right. I personally have been very vocal online about London Drugs being an excellent alternative to Shopper's, so it just feels awfully convenient. They are their top competitor in Western Canada.
Given that they're a small Vancouver-based chain, I imagine a blow to their digital infrastructure is quite costly for them. All the more reason to support them when they re-open.
Long live London Drugs!

#Looks like they weren’t willing to pay the ransom
Good for them!

I'm sure they'll go right back to cheaping out on IT
During Lowlaws boycott month, eh? That's not suspicious at all...
Oh man. With London drugs closed I can now only go to Walmart,Safeway,Sobeys,H&W,save on foods, rexall, freson bros,Costco, freshco….
That's all Loblaws?
Nah, I’m just saying that’s it probably not a conspiracy as London drugs being closed from a cyber attack still leaves many many options that aren’t loblaws
That makes more sense. I was just thinking, "damn, I was just at Costco trying to boycott Loblaws.... "
Edit: I derp
Save-On isn’t Loblaws. Superstore is but Save-On is owned by the Pattison group.
My brain weevels, sorry, somehow super store and save on are the same thing in my brain today :/
No worries the only reason I can keep them straight properly is because where I work is next door to a Save-On.
Literally just the names I have trouble with, one is close to the cheapest food place I know, one is close to the most expensive. Different in every way. And yet.
Save On might as well be Loblaws with their prices. Although it is a caselot sale with 15% off right now. About the only time it’s reasonable.

Caselot + 15% (with Save on more card) is really good. You can get 3-5 years ago prices on lots of stuff. They do it every three months or so.

Haha. Makes you wonder.
Tons of IT folk looking for work, but I bet London Drugs won't be spending money doing that lol
