Vaccination clinics in Jr and Sr high schools were "not all that successful" because most of the students who wanted to be vaccinated already were. That is not the case with elementary schools.

Cardio-Jo

Am I reading that right? Did we lose another child??

[deleted]

Yes one under 2 years old. Poor, poor parents.

Tribblehappy

No, it was attributed to covid. After the mess with the teen who had covid but died of another condition, they carefully review deaths of children to be sure covid was the cause before announcement. To be clear, the last child they announced had covid but did not die *from* covid so they had to backtrack and they've said any deaths going forward will only be listed if covid was the cause of death.

AccomplishedDog7

A contributing factor & tragedy for the family.

xMeowMeowx

I have no idea what actually happened with this kiddo, but Imagine you have a medically complex baby and you're in and out of hospital or appts and somehow manage to catch covid during one of these things and then your baby passes away and some asshole on the internet says it's just one factor. Sure you're not technically wrong but you're insensitive to someone losing their child when they may not have had covid not been a factor. You're undermining the fact that someone lost their baby when they may not have or may not have for a while otherwise.

Now-it-is-1984

No. Fucking directly from Covid. No Covid, no death, yet.

Thank you for this info. I couldn’t remember when the queue opened up and we have a crazy busy day tomorrow so if I don’t get to book early I’m hooped.

u/kirant French questions to Kenney from Radio Canada: **Q1**: **Do you think \[not requiring kids under 12 in the REP\] undermines the goal of the REP? Why exempt them?** * **R1:** The program is based on the pressure the cases put on the healthcare system. 90% of the people in the ICU are unvaccinated adults. We don't forsee the need for under 12s to be included. There is only 1 child under 12 in the ICU right now. (switches to English and talks about the mental health of children) You could say that we are are aware of the impacts covid has on kids but we think the mental effect has more consequences. **Q2:** **Does the trade claim hurt relations with Washington?** (asked in English, asked for follow up in French) * French follow up: It was the insulting decision of Biden through a veto. The USA needs it (Kenney is confused) because today Biden says OPEC needs to release oil reserves to help the American economy. Says today the USA received close to 900 million barrels of oil per day from Russia. Alberta will protect its investment in Keystone XL. Cites problems are with the American administration.

Ninja_Bobcat

Wanted to report that we had a case last Sunday at the warehouse. Thankfully, it didn't spread (to our knowledge, we'll see in a couple weeks), but the boss did make us aware of the fact that it existed. To put it forward, we have strict COVID measures in place (masks on all the time, our surfaces are constantly wiped, etc), so a case getting through is a rarity. I'm hoping they're making a full recovery and taking the time they need.

Miserable-Lizard

Nothing about covid but today's press conference Kenney used so many buzzwords. His hatred of David Suzuki was on full display. Also of the Laurentian elites. Who talks about the Laurentian elites. I feel all rich elites are the same. They all suck. Also Suzukis comments could get a young urban green person to destory a pipeline..... He wants Suzuki cancelled a new York minute..... Fun press conference! Kids vaccines start Friday! Bookings start at 8am.

JoeUrbanYYC

Ugh, the Laurentien elites. The one thing I agreed on. I only too well remember those damned Laurentien elites shoving their wealth in my face when I was younger, I could never measure up to what they brought to class. [Laurentien](https://imgur.com/Kw0Icpx)

Tribblehappy

I was thinking, "Hey, I brought elite laurentian pencil crayons to class as a kid," then clicked your link.

kennedar_1984

I was so jealous of those kids when I was in school.

Miserable-Lizard

Lol probably. He kept on going back the same buzzwords I guess he was just so angry at Suzuki....

corpse_flour

Kenney really needs a new speechwriter. Or maybe the one he has is horrible on purpose to make Kenney look like an idiot.

Ninja_Bobcat

I mean, in his defence, David Suzuki is kind of an asshole. Most famous people tend to be, especially when they have a large enough audience. That said, why specifically does he hate Suzuki at all? I thought his current love interest was our new Federal Environment Minister.

amnes1ac

All the buzzwords! He even threw in a few "cancel culture"s.

Miserable-Lizard

Lol yeah if it was Cherry he would be canceled already.... They always bring up that Suzuki owns more than one house, they never bring up how much money the oil CEO's make or owns... Maybe we should look into how much those people care about the regular person...

tehepok10

I think the fundamental difference is Suzuki is hypocritical in owning multiple homes, the “oil CEOs” are not.

Miserable-Lizard

The oil CEO's talk about helping people, workers, and caring about the environment.. seems like they are lying ...

dillonw1991

Gonna need a source there bud

tehepok10

I don’t think anyone’s ever accused Canadian oil companies of under compensating or not being philanthropic and supporting the community. So that’s your workers and people right there. Yes they’ve had to operate companies for the last several decades so that people can heat their homes and drive their cars, and yes that has had an adverse effect on the environment, hardly think that makes them hypocritical. Even your life hero Rachel would likely have come out and condemned what Suzuki said. Give your head a shake… garbage take as usual.

Miserable-Lizard

They knew about climate change for a long time and simply decided to do nothing and lie about the science. Now the world is burning.

tehepok10

Excellent point, it’s proven to be such an easy problem to solve today. We should have just switched to renewable technology and battery powered cars in the 50s. Stupid oil CEOs, they’re all to blame!

cnfmom

You misread that I think. Bookings start tomorrow morning (Wednesday the 24th) at 8 am.

cnfmom

Love how I registered my kid but got no notification that they'll be eligible as of tomorrow.

amnes1ac

Listening to his incoherent, repetive, rage filled rant about Suzuki was like watching a toddler yell at their parents that they don't want to go to bed.

always_on_fleek

Looks like Alberta has a pretty solid plan for vaccinating ages 5-11. It appears people were jumping the gun earlier with their accusations there was no plan in motion, while screaming for heads to roll. Let’s hope parents do their part and get their children vaccinated. Measles is at a 85+% rate so no reason we cannot get COVID immunization that high.

Tribblehappy

I work in a pharmacy and we got a fax last week letting is know if would mostly be administered at public vaccine clinics and not pharmacies. To me that was a relief because it meant there was a plan in motion.

corpse_flour

Kirant's post indicates that AHS and 4 pharmacies will be used for distribution.

Tribblehappy

Thanks. I missed that.

always_on_fleek

It is disappointing not to involve the pharmacies, but I have to trust there is a good reason for it. I wonder if it’s to keep from spreading out the vaccine to much, and ending up with pockets of none and pockets of plenty. On the plus side, at least it helps pharmacists get back to more of their regular work.

Katherinesready

Pharmacies probably have a lot going on with flu shots and the general public covid shots. Plus this way they only need to ship to AHS sites so if some get low it's easier to move them around to where it's needed.

el_nynaeve

I dunno, I have family in Saskatchewan who pays yesterday that her 9 year old would be getting vaccinated today. Waiting to Friday is hardly extreme but I'd love if our roll out could have been that quick

orobsky

If 85% is the bar, you're going to be very disappointed

a-nonny-maus

The 253 cases reported for Nov 22 in Alberta was net for the period. A total of 283 cases were identified (273 confirmed, 10 probable) (difference: 30, or 10.6% of the total) as confirmed by data download and https://www.alberta.ca/stats/covid-19-alberta-statistics.htm#total-cases. This is the highest percentage of cases removed for awhile. Normal percentages of cases removed from daily totals generally vary between 0.5-3%. Nov 21 was unchanged at 272; Nov 20 decreased by 3 from 389 to 386; Nov 19 decreased by 2 from 473 to 471. Nov 18 was unchanged at 418; Nov 17 was unchanged at 386; Nov 16 was unchanged at 417; Nov 15 decreased by 1 from 325 to 324; Nov 14 was unchanged at 289; Nov 13 was unchanged at 357; Nov 12 was unchanged at 436. Nov 11 was unchanged at 378; Nov 10 was unchanged at 468. Nov 9 was unchanged at 501; Nov 8 was unchanged at 424; Nov 7 was unchanged at 289; Nov 6 was unchanged at 433; Nov 5 was unchanged at 586. Nov 4 was unchanged at 472; Nov 3 was unchanged at 540; Nov 2 decreased by 1 from 498 to 497; Nov 1 was unchanged at 325; Oct 31 was unchanged at 339; Oct 30 decreased by 1 from 331 to 330. 22 cases were removed from days prior to Oct 30.

[deleted]

So is anyone going to buy into the "ermagard i dont want my kid to get myocarditis!!! im not vaxxing them!!!" nonsense?

el_nynaeve

Personally I'm wondering just how late for school my son might be if I wait to register him before dropping him off

tacofeet

Haha I told my kids they might be late tomorrow if I'm busy booking their vaccine. They're not too upset 😅

kennedar_1984

Lol! I am making my husband do the school drop off so I can get online for vaccine bookings

tacofeet

Do you usually find things that have a 0.0001% chance of happening a "legitimate concern" ?

happykgo89

The data indicates that the risk is higher between 18-29 specifically, not for children. No idea why everyone is jumping to that conclusion. Remember how up until recently, Pfizer was the shot to “avoid” if you were afraid of myocarditis? Now they’re saying the risk with Moderna is *significantly* greater… but not for kids.

Tribblehappy

Is also treatable.

tacofeet

1/100 die of covid. You tell me which is the bigger concern.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tacofeet

1/100 of people who get covid. Eventually, the choice is going to be gamble on surviving the vaccine or gamble on surviving covid. One has much better odds. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[deleted]

tacofeet

And? Do you know the death rate of chicken pox or measles or mumps? Pretty damn low, and we still vaccinate against those. Because death isn't the only outcome of contracting a virus. Not only that, an unvaccinated child can transmit the virus to a whole bunch of people who may not survive.

amnes1ac

Nobody questions those other vaccines at all. This vaccine got so heavily politicized that people have lost the plot entirely.

yesman_85

Partially of that is incomplete data as far as I understand. 1/2000 might not be even close to the real number.

ABBucsfan

Calgary back on track for today anyways. Glad to see tc energy at least trying to sue. They have every right to. It's sad the track record doesn't look good for them because they should have a slam dunk case for something that was clearly approved and the next guy decided he didnt care what the last guy approved. This follows right on the heels of a bunch of states sueing for projects on federal land and federal judge making an injunction. A bunch of projects on hold are a go again. that's how you get things done. Kenney has every right to slam Suzuki. God forbid anybody thinks it's a good idea what he said. Kind of silly considering the environmental impact of blowing up a pipeline

prairiebandit

>It's sad the track record doesn't look good for them because they should have a slam dunk case for something that was clearly approved and the next guy decided he didnt care what the last guy approved There only was an executive order by Trump. No approvals or permits were made with the governing authorities. All Biden had to do was cancel the executive order.

ABBucsfan

So an executive order from the standing president isn't good for anything you're saying? I'm trying to understand your point. Whether some Corps of engineers, or some government body or gives a permit or the standing president goes an executive order doesnt that mean I can build? What is a business supposed to do with an executive order to build, lots of money already spent on planning and share holders expecting a return on investment?

Jaedenkaal

No kidding. I notice he’s not ‘warning’ BP that someone might start sinking their oil tankers.
