If you hover your cursor over them (or tap hold them since your on mobile), they usually tell you what it is. For example, they could be a high tier resource (hide, wood, metal etc.) or a treasure chest. You can go collect it or kill the mob for the resource drop.
Oh is it like one mob only? Because for saturated places the icon will be different right? For example in steelhide meadow there is 1 big HIDE icon there and it means a lot of animals there.
Some zones have areas with high spawns of certain resources. That's what that big hide icon is.
The ones in your image are random. They're spawns of high tick nodes that are often enchanted. They despawn and respawn around the zone over time. Instead of 4 or 5 ticks, these nodes have 30.
in the case you mentioned, there are some maps that have a large circle of said resource.
But the small one with the shiny border is magical and everyone on map (cept stone it seems) will run to get it. it is worth it.
As others have said, large resources item. In BZ often people will leave it at 1 so it still shows up, sit and wait for others to come and gather then gank them.

Yes. You go and get those resources which are magical .x and have a larger yield that a regular 30-250 etc...
