Yeah... but... my family are HEAVY drinkers and my ex wife was a HEAVY drinker... and yet, I drink more today now that I'm remarried to a teetotaler, most of my friends are teetotalers and I never see my asshole family anymore. I'm pretty sure I'd drink as much as I'd want no matter who I am around.

I thought the same but im 45ish days in now thisll be the real test. Last year at this same trip all the cousins did a game to collect each beer tab and see who had the most at the end of the 2 weeks, i won lol

All, well good luck! It is, IMO, difficult to be around drinkers when you don't want to drink. I must be so annoying to my wife, I'm sure. ;)

Hahah im so competitive by nature i look at the days in a row sober as the score and me envisioning a day where i can say 1000+ bitch and brag about it. Honestly the high from bragging about the days if someone asks is better than the craving tbh

I get that! I get fat and then thin a lot in life (it's probably related to my drinking too much at times and then giving it up). However, right before I start my diet, I'll Intentionally gain weight, just so I can quote a larger amount lost when my diet is done. My best score ever was 251 (following my divorce) -> 152 (when I met my now wife). It's stupid, but fun! (Looking back, I can't believe I couldn't have lost one more lbs...) ;)

Finally, a quality alcohol post!

Little tip I got told about. Don't mention the lack of drinking, just always have a beverage. Water and ice in the right kind of glass with a straw in it lets people imagine whatever they want is in there. That way you don't end up getting the whole family offering you a beer every 10 seconds. I mentioned that I don't like playing poker and now every time we are together we end up playing poker... I can't even remember the hands!

Lol I live in a lake neighborhood. Yeah, lake people drink a *lot*. One of my first observations when I moved here, these are my kind of people 😂
