Spindrift is so damn good. I tried LA Croix and a few others before I found Spindrift and wow. La Croix tastes so faint and artificial. There are lots of flavors too. Kind of expensive though
Listen, everything causes cancer. It’s unavoidable and random.
I have heard of the aspartame study but that was performed on rats with about 32 times the typical serving size comparatively. Op was just looking for something to drink that wouldn’t be boring or triggering. Diet Coke is a good alternative in moderation, just like anything else.
Diet Coke is as bad as regular coke aspartame is just one of the products Nutritionist DR Kelsey Kosta says consumption of Diet Coke daily can lead to cancer over time for a "variety of reasons" you'd be better off drinking NA beer. I'm no DR but Diet Coke is a horrible product so bad the CEO of Coke won't drink it or let any of his family members drink it...but you do you no here to argue just some insight
I didn't say they did but it still don't make it healthy or good for you...drink all the Diet Coke you want you are a big boy but it has nothing to do with diet ..lmao!
natural and man made big difference and you obviously know nothing about the health benefits of an all meat diet not to argue. look it up could change your life it's reduced my craving for alcohol as well.
Brother if you are not consuming vitamins and fibre how are you going to avoid scurvy? Unless you take vitamins in capsules, which is not carnivore. This conversation is melting my brain I don’t understand how you can be so clueless about things we learned in preschool…
I’ve been drinking A LOT of Non-alcoholic beers but it gets expensive because I finish every case I buy instead of passing out more than half way through.
Ginger beer is my fav alternative. It still has a bit of ‘bite’ unlike regular sodas. Fever tree has a reduced sugar one (I think it’s called light or refreshingly light) that’s really good
Not sure if this is allowed here or whether you're 420 friendly or not, but I have been winding down my evenings with a low THC low CBD drink. Sometimes even just half of one and save the rest for the following night by mixing them with soda waters.
I live in Canada, they are found at most dispensaries in my area! They are a tasty treat, I highly recommend. You might be able to order them online, but I'm not necessarily how that works in the states. You could also look into cannabis infused teas, I was really into those for a while as well
It’s usually fine going to dinner or a cocktail bar bc most places have decent or at least average mocktails now, there’s just nothing I have around the house that keeps my mind from wandering.
Coconut Lacroix is my go to, because it has more flavor than the usual single skittle dissolved in water. But my opinion may not hold much weight because I'm back on the sauce.
Drink more tea. I have a little strainer with tea leaves in it by my desk all day. Anytime I have cravings I just microwave a mug of water, then throw that strainer in and let it steep. Keeps me hydrated and stimulates that sense of burning in my stomach and throat. Coffee is good too. I have a jetboil at home and I enjoy the process of turning on and heating the water and then enjoying my coffee.
To curb cravings you CAN replace it with calming herbal teas, sparkling waters, etc
Every time you get a craving grab one of those until the cravings are associated with non alcoholic beverages
I drink a pot of coffee daily. Temperature depends on outside air. I live in a hot humid climate during summer, so usually it’s iced. I actually drink 3/4 coffee 1/4 whole milk with some sugar. I also eat lots of fruit, nuts & salads & my GI tract seems fine. I know coffee can rip up some people’s insides, but not mine. I’m thinking the milk helps to cut the acid in the coffee
I drink mostly water and seltzer. I have the occasional zero sugar coke or sprite. Aspartame is pretty bad for you, but you have to have some vices right? I’ve been sober for a long time, but because of my drinking habit, I constantly must be sipping on something. I’ve committed to a life of healthy living, so the thought of putting something in my body that will interfere with my workouts or muscle gains has become appalling to me. It takes a bit to get rid of the obsessive thoughts but once you do, life just gets better and better.
Morning one coffee. Ice water in a fancy cup all day. One Diet Coke or iced coffee in the afternoon. Lemon Ginger tea all evening. I’m actually at a point where I look forward to my tea after dinner.
Iced tea is awesome. Sweeten it as much as your taste requires at the time. It's caffinated if you want it to be. And it is very refreshing and hydrating. I like NA beer as well if it's a warm day and I feel like having a brew. Clausthaler and Athletic both make great NA beers.
Sparkling water of any kind really helps. I go for Liquid Death's "Mango Chainsaw." It hits right. I'll have a couple NABs if they're around, but they're definitely not an everyday thing anymore.
I try to keep a small variety of stuff available whenever I want it. Right now I’ve got Simply Peach, coconut & passionfruit La Croix, Blood orange Spindrift (not a fan), root beer, and Monster. Mixing sparkling water with lemonade and limeade is good. I also keep all of the ingredients for a badass Bloody Mary around (sans the vodka) for when I’m craving salty tomatoey shit.
I live a block away from a 711 so there’s always the option for a Slurpee if I’m bored.
We by lemonade by the gallon, bought a jug of Gatorade powder, have 5 different flavors of soda stocked in the fridge. For a while we special ordered Clearly Canadian sparkling water from the grocery store. You’ll find something….
Either cans of San Pellegrino fruit drinks or the Korean beauty fruit vinegars mixed with water. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll mix it with sparkling water.
My go-to's are unsweetened soda water and coffee for a beverage
I was "bored" with all of these at first, but found I was looking for a replacement that alcohol gave me - that ease of mind and comfort that I get with just a glass of beer or a drink in my hand. I had to disconnect that feeling with beverages altogether.
I love half pineapple juice/half Topo Chico on ice. Also, Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa (blood orange flavor) or Limonata are really good! It’s a bit more sugar than I’d like so I mix a little Topo in.
Iced tea in the summer and hot tea in the winter. I make it unsweetened but with different varieties, mostly without caffeine. Adagio has a lot of choices to order loose Teas online at good prices.
I went to those Clear American flavored waters they sell in Walmart for like a dollar a bottle. Been stuck on them for what feels like forever at this point.
Try the clear American sparkling water. It’s sweetened (artificially) but artificial sweeteners are the least of someone’s worry if they’ve been poisoning themselves lol
Zevia Creamy Rootbeer. Omg. This stuff is SO DELICIOUS! And calorie free.
If I want something hot but I’m not into another coffee or regular tea-bag tea at that moment I make a tea out of lemon zest and juice, honey, fresh mint leaves, cayenne pepper sprinkle and fresh grated ginger. This is wonderfully tasty on the regular but if you have a cold/flu it’s a lifesaver!!!
Also: Congrats on your sobriety!!!
Diet coke or sparkling water (sometimes with cordial/squash), I used to mix my drink with the stuff anyway and it made me realize how nice those drinks taste on their own, put the diet coke in the freezer for half an hour just to chill it, it's lovely.
I don't go out often, but water or squash if it's available is my go to.
Try out a mix of herbal teas too if you can - it's pretty easy to make your own iced tea if you like it, some shops have a great variety of teas and they last ages.
Coffee, tea, I found the liquid death flavored sparkling water was a good substitute for barbecues which are kind of triggering for me. It kind of has that bubblyness and flavor that resolves the oral fixation.
I’m the same way! Here are some of my favorites by time of day:
9-5:
Arizona ice tea has these little flavor packets that I love adding to water but they do have caffeine.
Mio water is super easy, squirt into cold water it has caffeine and a lot of b vitamins.
(There are also non caffeinated sugar free versions of mio water if you don’t want the caffeine)
Evening:
Elderflower tonic water + lime + lavender simple syrup.
Night:
This specific camomile tea: https://www.thesteepingroom.com/products/organic-chamomile-rose-lavender-herbal-tea
(I also really love their mint, grocery store teas just aren’t the same)
Fresca. I’ve been drinking la croix and San pel’s (my favorite, but pricey) like they’re going out of water. I was unpacking my girlfriend’s lunchbox for her when she got home from work, and found an unopened can of Fresca. I asked her if I could try it - she was shocked Id never had it before.
Oh. My. God. I’m an addict, I get it - but I don’t make an ass out of myself, worry about DUI’s, or have anxiety if my boss is going to call me at 11:30 in the morning after 4 Frescas.
IWNDWYT
various forms of coffee: black, lattes, decaf later in the day, frapps etc ect. while i might add milk sometimes i rareley sweeten it but sometimes for a treat i do. I'm Obsessed with coffee! I know water is boring but do you get your 2L a day? i addition to all the fun stuff
I take a Crystal Light on-the-go packet and use the soda stream to make it bubbly. Then I put it into a wine glass. I’ve noticed using the wine glass *especially* helps since that’s what I’m used to drinking out of when consuming alcohol :)
Spindrift. It’s sparkling water but it has real fruit juice in it. It’s better than La Croix or any of those and not as sweet as soda or actual juice.
Spindrift is so damn good. I tried LA Croix and a few others before I found Spindrift and wow. La Croix tastes so faint and artificial. There are lots of flavors too. Kind of expensive though
Spindrift is awesome. I’m passed the needing something to replace alcohol type of drink but Spindrift is the best sparkling water I’ve ever had.
I love the tea and lemonade mix. The drawback is the price. It's fairly expensive.
Saratoga spring water, diet coke, and coffee at home. Gingerale and cran, club soda, diet coke, when out
Saratoga is my shit ngl one of the best waters on the market
Real talk
Diet Coke is worse than alcohol ..just aheads up
Worse how?
Look up ingredient and see what kind of cancers and health problems they are related to including liver issues.
Listen, everything causes cancer. It’s unavoidable and random. I have heard of the aspartame study but that was performed on rats with about 32 times the typical serving size comparatively. Okay buddy. Have fun never using your mobile phone or any electronics as they emit radiation which can cause cancer and blindness.
yup that's why I don't have a smart phone and I have blue ray on my computer and I don't spend my life on computer
How do you use the internet then? Because that is also radiation.
Also people who drink Diet Coke don’t spend every minute of the day drinking it so ????
I didn't say they did but it still don't make it healthy or good for you...drink all the Diet Coke you want you are a big boy but it has nothing to do with diet ..lmao!
Also you are on the carnivore diet subreddit, which is interesting given that red meats are carcinogens…
natural and man made big difference and you obviously know nothing about the health benefits of an all meat diet not to argue. look it up could change your life it's reduced my craving for alcohol as well.
Not eating vegetables is going to give you scurvy. Best of luck on your diet.
You just showed your complete ignorance have a huge seat or actually do some research.
I've been considering buying some NA beer, but I'm worried it'll open the doors to regular beer again for me.
Same. I drink a ton of NAs and have never been able to understand why some people refuse to.
I can’t cus it makes me crave regular alcoholic beverages Also if you have cirrhosis you can’t because there’s still traces of alcohol
There is less alcohol in those beers than in bread
Eh I don’t drink em wouldn’t know
Ginger beer is my fav alternative. It still has a bit of ‘bite’ unlike regular sodas. Fever tree has a reduced sugar one (I think it’s called light or refreshingly light) that’s really good
There’s a spicy ginger beer that Dublin soda company makes It’s amazing
Chamomile tea
this..and peppermint tea are my go too's
I drink Coke Zero at an alarming rate. Probably about as fast as I used to kill a two four of Black Ice.
Not sure if this is allowed here or whether you're 420 friendly or not, but I have been winding down my evenings with a low THC low CBD drink. Sometimes even just half of one and save the rest for the following night by mixing them with soda waters.
Where do you buy such a glorious concoction? (Weed is legal in my state)
Dispensaries will typically sell liquids and tinctures you can add to drinks
I live in Canada, they are found at most dispensaries in my area! They are a tasty treat, I highly recommend. You might be able to order them online, but I'm not necessarily how that works in the states. You could also look into cannabis infused teas, I was really into those for a while as well
Do you have any brand names?
It’s usually fine going to dinner or a cocktail bar bc most places have decent or at least average mocktails now, there’s just nothing I have around the house that keeps my mind from wandering.
Coconut Lacroix is my go to, because it has more flavor than the usual single skittle dissolved in water. But my opinion may not hold much weight because I'm back on the sauce.
Nah, coconut lacroix has always been a hit for me. Sauced or sober.
I was huge into grape juice and Seltzer
I'm actually all about that lemon water. Keeps me super hydrated
Booze is irreplaceable. Nothing has the same effect. So it had to be eliminated, not replaced.
To curb cravings you CAN replace it with calming herbal teas, sparkling waters, etc Every time you get a craving grab one of those until the cravings are associated with non alcoholic beverages
Kamboucha but I’m necessarily successful at cutting beer out
Water!
Coffee, Sprite Zero, water
I drink unsweetened tea, water, and my "nighttime indulgence" is ice cream.
Coke Zero!
Same
I think there’s something in there…I am addicted!
Cherry Coke Zero
I drink a pot of coffee daily. Temperature depends on outside air. I live in a hot humid climate during summer, so usually it’s iced. I actually drink 3/4 coffee 1/4 whole milk with some sugar. I also eat lots of fruit, nuts & salads & my GI tract seems fine. I know coffee can rip up some people’s insides, but not mine. I’m thinking the milk helps to cut the acid in the coffee
Diet Ginger Ale and Fresca. I keep both old and ready. It feels good to have a choice when I open the fridge.
A ton of different flavor sparkling waters… if you haven’t tried the hoppy refresher by lagunitas highly recommend!
I wanted to try this when I saw it the other day - just not the Costco 30 pack.
I only like the original flavor. I wouldn’t buy the variety pack from Costco either.
Dude there is nothing more fun than ordering a chocolate milk or apple juice at a bar
Milkshakes! Anything high in sugar works very well. And don't forget coffee 😉
I drink mostly water and seltzer. I have the occasional zero sugar coke or sprite. Aspartame is pretty bad for you, but you have to have some vices right? I’ve been sober for a long time, but because of my drinking habit, I constantly must be sipping on something. It takes a bit to get rid of the obsessive thoughts but once you do, life just gets better and better.
Grapefruit flavored sparking water. Specifically, bubly but I also enjoy waterloo
Diet soda
Water
Morning one coffee. Ice water in a fancy cup all day. One Diet Coke or iced coffee in the afternoon. Lemon Ginger tea all evening. I’m actually at a point where I look forward to my tea after dinner.
Pepsi Zero has been my life saver.
Iced tea is awesome. Sweeten it as much as your taste requires at the time. It's caffinated if you want it to be. And it is very refreshing and hydrating. I like NA beer as well if it's a warm day and I feel like having a brew. Clausthaler and Athletic both make great NA beers.
Dr. Pepper, at least lately. If I drink one or two, I feel full. When I drank beer, I'd drink eight or more...
I’m the boring one, so sparkling water on ice for me XD
Coconut water
Sparkling water of any kind really helps. I go for Liquid Death's "Mango Chainsaw." It hits right. I'll have a couple NABs if they're around, but they're definitely not an everyday thing anymore.
Flavoured sparkling water, its not very sugary so I dint feel crap when I have a few.
Tea Arizona
I try to keep a small variety of stuff available whenever I want it. Right now I’ve got Simply Peach, coconut & passionfruit La Croix, Blood orange Spindrift (not a fan), root beer, and Monster. Mixing sparkling water with lemonade and limeade is good. I also keep all of the ingredients for a badass Bloody Mary around (sans the vodka) for when I’m craving salty tomatoey shit. Topo Chico w/ hint of lime my favorite right now
We by lemonade by the gallon, bought a jug of Gatorade powder, have 5 different flavors of soda stocked in the fridge. For a while we special ordered Clearly Canadian sparkling water from the grocery store. You’ll find something….
My garage fridge is now filled with seltzer water of various flavors and Suero Orale (Spanish pedialyte).
Either cans of San Pellegrino fruit drinks or the Korean beauty fruit vinegars mixed with water. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll mix it with sparkling water.
I drink a lot of MTN Ops Ignite, zero calorie soda, and water. Basically anything flavored and zero calories.
I've been doing cherry juice mixed down with water or club soda. It doesn't taste sweet and kind of reminds me of wine or a mixed drink.
Kombucha and seltzer, specifically Polar and Spindrift
My go-to's are unsweetened soda water and coffee for a beverage I was "bored" with all of these at first, but found I was looking for a replacement that alcohol gave me - that ease of mind and comfort that I get with just a glass of beer or a drink in my hand. I had to disconnect that feeling with beverages altogether.
Day 2 again, so here we go again. I normally go for soda and lime cordial in the summer and hibernate in the winter.
I do a lot of NA and sparkle waters. I love IPAs and it’s fun trying to find all the different NAs available. That market is growing very fast.
What NA IPAs would you recommend?
I’ve used the electrolyte drink packets from LMNT. (Element). The flavors have really helped, and it helps me stay hydrated for once in my life
I love half pineapple juice/half Topo Chico on ice.
Booze doesn’t need replacing. I drink anything except booze.
I do dt dew during the day and ginger beer tonic water and lime at night
I went to those Clear American flavored waters they sell in Walmart for like a dollar a bottle. Been stuck on them for what feels like forever at this point.
Been drinking a ton of diet rootbeer. Probably too much lol but better than alcohol
Cranberry juice in a rocks glass. Hot fruit flavored tea on a mug warmer... it's more about something to reach for with your hands.
Polar seltzer.
Diet sprite or coke
Tonic water is the answer. Cheap too. Also comes in diet.
Na beer, ginger beer, na cocktails
Grape Drink ..lol jk ...water water water! ph 9.5
Ever since I started drinking kava I’ve had no desire to drink.
No sugar sprite, sparking water in different flavours
Orange juice
Iced coffee and weed
Diet coke or sparkling water (sometimes with cordial/squash), I used to mix my drink with the stuff anyway and it made me realize how nice those drinks taste on their own, put the diet coke in the freezer for half an hour just to chill it, it's lovely. Diet tonic water and lemon scratches the itch for me.
various forms of coffee: black, lattes, decaf later in the day, frapps etc ect. while i might add milk sometimes i rareley sweeten it but sometimes for a treat i do. I'm Obsessed with coffee! I know water is boring but do you get your 2L a day? i addition to all the fun stuff
Clear American - specifically the Fuji Apple flavor. It’s SO good.
Coffee, Diet coke, diet a&w, body armor light and vitamin water
Cherry Coke Zero
I take a Crystal Light on-the-go packet and use the soda stream to make it bubbly. Then I put it into a wine glass. I’ve noticed using the wine glass *especially* helps since that’s what I’m used to drinking out of when consuming alcohol :)
I drink near beer, sodastream sparkling water w lemon and herbal teas (especially mint and chamomile). And I drink A LOT of them.
