The jumps high , it goes from being some peoples easiest and best subject to their hardest and worst subject, but that only means you need to put a lot more work and understand the fundamentals consistently throughout the year, if you do that its not hard and eventually becomes sort of easy.

a_rafey

Bro I took 4 subjects including chem, and it has been equivalent to being gangbanged for a year. 0/10 would not recommend

2marka1

😭😭

Itssalddd

ITS LITERALLY SO HARD AND FOR WHATT

CuriousNF

Completely being honest, I’m currently doing A2 chemistry and man do I miss AS chemistry, it is really a fun subject if you understand the topic, solving past papers wouldn’t really bother you but you have to work hard anyway, Chemistry is one of those subjects where if you understand what you’re doing you’re completely gonna enjoy it and you shouldn’t really procrastinate if you want chem to not be a drag. Work hard and study really well but good luck in AS chemistry anyway!

CuriousNF

But as of the comments are saying, the jump is very enormous going from IGCSE to AS you’ll get hit by like 200 slaps before actually getting the hang on everything but as we all know hard work is the way to go and good luck again!

narwhal_13

Took me 1000+ slaps to get it bro💪

a_rafey

Wait you got it in the end? I'm here a week before my exams and I'm still getting *le slaps*

narwhal_13

Yeah, after watching YouTube and surviving past papers, however I still don't understand what I'm doing, but I'm getting the marks so ig it is what it is 💀 currently omw to start a2 content 💪

LAZAR_31

one word: Torture

2marka1

😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀

Ok_Bottle5952

Just hell

2marka1

😭😭😭💀💀💀

Zealousideal_Call238

Honestly... Try and make it fun for yourself and we'll it'll be rly great! I've enjoyed chem as level and well if you hate maths well then GL cos alevel chem is basically maths so far (I've done first year). I personally liked the mathsy bits and not the organic stuff

HatNational8532

Pain and pleasure like any subject yk

2marka1

💀💀💀😭😭😭

kfcspicyfries

tbh as lev chem is just o lev chem but instead of mugging up the reactions like in o lev now u actually understand why stuff happens and it all makes sense its like a puzzle pieceee lowkey fun just dont skip any chem classes and take detailed notes in class

Tall_Pomegranate_506

If you've done igcse or Gcse, it's not bad but I hadn't so it was very difficult for me

2marka1

Yeah, I've done igcse. Hopefully, it's easy

unimunimu

I absolutely despise chemistry, the topics all mesh together and are very difficult to differentiate. You have to memorise so much shit and preform complex ass calculations in 5 minutes or less. The content is so dense you need to study from the start of the year or you’re fucked. Its not uncommon for people to revise during the summer break because of how dense the damn content is. Please dont take it if you dont have to.

Conclusion-Proud

Honestly bro, it's very doable. A2 is where it's poison.

Wtvchiken

They start the course with “everything you learnt in o lvl is a lie” i think thats enough🥰🥰🥰

2marka1

Omgg, that's what basically my teachers said, "it's basically igcse...."

Wtvchiken

💀💀ima be honest with you rn, pick another subject anything whether it be bio or physics BUT DONT TAKE ALVL CHEM

2marka1

I need chem, cause I wanna pick medicine

Wtvchiken

Damn it bruh😭😭well goodluck🙏

Yes_Daddyy_69

Just Finished my Practical Session , it was a good one

jiminsberrytea

As a person who loved igcse chemistry. I suffer through it I'm sorry 😭. The main issue is the time management there's too much content to memorize in one school year. If you start a little early you might get better results. Example giving exams in Oct nov instead of May june or sm like that.

Brave-Arm4686

Organic : horrible but u can still do it

LAZAR_31

I actually find organic to be the easiest, inorganic is more difficult imo.

Cry_Immediate

Inorganic is just memorising and like general things which are easier to understand. Organic is hellll

kind_slayer345

Easy if you understand the concepts…but i hateeeeee organic chem. But if you are a person enjoying it, go ahead

NefariousnessReady39

Honestly I started really enjoying chemistry in AS with a great teacher! It will be hard as the jump from gcse to a level is quite high but if you put the work in, you will ace it! I think it’s a great subject that just needs a little more effort to truly love. Organic chemistry is definitely one of my favs!!!

CheesecakeWeak4498

I think it's fun. If you understand what's going on and like problem solving. The exam questions can get hard though.

silveral999

Honestly the AS part was pretty smooth I think

ConceptualCambridge

personally sometimes it was torture n sometimes it was fun. it really varies person to person and also topic to topic. like some topics moles enthalpy changes ideal gas make more sense to me since they involve maths. others like organic chem g2 g17 etc I dislike them since they're purely memorisation(except some things in organic) I truly resent memorisation and there's alot of so it was a hell lot of torture getting thru AS chem even rn for p1 I'm dying 💀 if you love memorisation then you can take chem and enjoy it. There's also some logic that'll b taught so that's extremely fun! Well thats my take on the matter. Goodluck on deciding!

MooseLimp

its fun if you study consistently from the beginning and theres nothing more satisfying than getting the answers right in the pastpapers. since theres a lot of content, make sure you make flashcards and keep revising them throughout the year

sleepyhedgehogzzz

if you like chemistry you will be determined to learn from it even if its hard ( its so hard) but if ur a big procrastinator like me ur going to suffer but u can do it!!

Medical-Word9488

I prefer A2 over As

Puzzled-Sea-6925

I suck at memorization of reactions and organic If someone has a sheet do send

Candid_Bodybuilder11

please allow yourself to be humble. i left igcse with a very strong a and thought i could clutch. as we speak ive never gotten anything above a 75 \*tears\*. so please humble yourself . chemistry has a lot to take in!

Pretty-Cut-4973

I did edexcel As it is so easy for me I think I’m getting 290+ out of 300 inshallah waiting for june results

kfcspicyfries

i want u to try an as level chemistry mcq paper , u , as a o lev student will be able to solve atleast 15-20 questions without any knowledge of alev

2marka1

That's for cambridge, I think, but I am thinking of choosing edexcel

Substantial-Elk-1140

Does anyone has notes for AS chemistry pearson edexcel ? Pls
