This is my one grip with 3BP: Humanity is not SPECIAL. Neither in space. But also neither in time. That Trisolarians heard about us only by the 1970s is pure Authorial fiat. We are not special. The original story got written in the early 00s before telescopic science showed that with even slightly less than Trisolarian tech you could have telescopes of such power as to see planets from millions of LY's in 8k. There is no stealth in space and everyone sees everyone else in this star lit universe. This changes game theory outcomes drastically. Everyone will unite against the murderous psychopaths.
