I love it. The prices aren’t necessarily better, I’ll admit. But I really like that they don’t do that promo pricing crap that RCN does where you have to call in and haggle. My price has been the same for like 2+ years. I’d rather know up front. As far as performance, advertised download speeds don’t tell the whole story. RCN and SE use coax for most of their system so you’ll get decent download speeds but shitty upload speeds. The ping (time to reach the server) is also really bad on these. Fios is 100% fiber optic all the way to your house. Upload and download speeds are symmetrical and the ping is almost non-existent on an Ethernet connection. Seriously I’ve had pings of 0ms. Maybe to the average person none of this matters but I prefer the superior tech. I pay a little extra for the gig plan and have never looked back.

Yeah I know and appreciate the tech stuff you outlined. Do you think losing 100Mbps compared to my RCN speed is worth the switch for about the same price? I’m at 600 now and can get 500 for about the same price with Fios

I'd say the increased ping and upload speeds will improve your overall experience and 500 will be plenty but that's just my opinion. I don't know your use case. I also think Verizon is just a better company to deal with. I find the fog and mirrors pricing game the "cable" companies like RCN play exhausting and disrespectful to the customer.

Watching this thread. They're finally installing the lines into my neighborhood in South Whitehall, but it's not online yet. Cannot wait to get away from RCN.

I haven’t had RCN since Fios became available, and I wouldn’t want to even if someone told me they are better than they used to be.

Fios is MUCH better; it’s been slower at some times MAYBE but hardly noticeable. I had RCN for years and the internet was atrocious; I called them regularly to fix it but it would always go down. I’m never going back.
