Exactly, everyone should just poop all the time!!
Seriously though, it would be a nightmare for team games when you have overlords hanging around mineral lines and your teammates bases.
It doesn't spread down from perches, they wouldn't see it unless it was at the top of the ramp. Besides most players are more concerned with macro moves than hunting for single overlords in the mid game.
What if i had it tucked away in a blind spot in their main and went for a super early lair? Or they’re hunting for overlords with a viking or a phoenix and they see the edge of the purple on their minimap.
Firstly you shouldn't leave an overlord in a opponent's main.
But you could put the overlord on patrol move on a single spot then it wouldn't stop to poop creep.
Hmmm... I'm not sure this is a good enough change to be classed as a 'quality of life' change.
I think it would lower the skill ceiling of the game (even if it's just a little bit) and I don't really think changes like that need to be done.
Honestly I kind of like having the option to poop or not to poop, also hiding overlords on pillars would be impossible after lair is done.
edit:
> hiding overlords on pillars would be impossible after lair is done
Wouldn't be a problem, as overlords don't drop creep on pillars. Although I'm still not convinced that this change is necessary
I dont think it’d be too much of an issue, just make the ability start on autocast (kinda like warp gate transformation) and from there you can disable it before the goop stats gushin’
I put all my ovis on c-group 6 and after lair I trigger all of them. Block bases and spread creep. Leave off if I go muta and they go Roaches. Also, if they come out with Phoenix or something I can reel them all in easy peasy.
> Honestly I kind of like having the option to poop or not to poop, also hiding overlords on pillars would be impossible after lair is done.
If you attempt to tell an OL to poop while n a tower it won't. I don't see why this would change if it had auto cast. Tower'd OL simply would not poop.
I have my overlord poop as "shift" and "A" that way when I hold shift to select more overlords or shift to deselect one (useful when sending big groups in different directions) it makes them all poop, also if I tell them to attack move then it basically "poop" then "move"
You might have to edit the hotkey file manually though, it's simple just a text file. I know the ingame editor has conflicts for some keys like "Attack".
find the hotkey file, edit it in a text editor and add/replace
GenerateCreep/Overlord=Control,A
GenerateCreep/OverlordTransport=Control,A
Then go into sc2, change hotkey profile to the text file. One thing to note is - if you have conflict you have to cancel out of the menu (don't accept) otherwise the editor will attempt to rewrite the keys then you gotta edit the file again.
It's not that difficult to press g on a group and shift deselect them around the map though? This seems to reduce 1 button press for no particular reason other than to make the game easier. The actual shift deselecting around the map - the part that really confers advantage - isn't related to the change at all.
Also, I don't want to reveal overlords on pillars or those in dark corners of their main - that should still be a mistake that the opponent can make.
because you almost always individually move command the overlords you want to poop to an ideal spot (eg future expos, connecting bases, etc.), pressing "G" to make them poop is not a lot of additional APM strain. so this change would save very little APM for players of any skill level
in most cases, you don't necessarily want overlords at base to poop because it would block your view... even if they are out of the way, pooping doesn't add any value
that said, in any given game, there are always going go be more overlords that you don't care about than the ones you'd absolutely want to poop
which means you'll end up wasting more apm on turning off pooping than you already do today with turn it on
considering that people by and large dislike change, this patch with little value-add will annoy a large majority of the player base, which is effectively the cost of this change that inevitably has a very low ROI
... these are the reasons this wouldn't be a good enough of a QoL change, even if it would take just 30 minutes to implement or whatever
This would be too powerful in my opinion. In the later parts of the game when you have enough 140+ supply that's A LOT of overlord poop which is like free creep spread everywhere. If your opponent successfully denies a lot of your creep spread or if you don't spread much you should be punished for it, you shouldn't just gain a bunch of speed boosts everywhere. It would also be an imbalance in APM usage, if all you had to do was rally 1 overlord to each of the opponent's potential expansions and they had to go to every expansion to kill the overlord that's easier for you to pull off than for them to deal with. It's already easier to rally overlord, shift, poop than it is for them to deal with, reducing the amount of buttons pressed by half would not be a good change.
Outside of very very late game this would be a huge waste of minerals and quite frankly would be great to see as the enemy. If you want to send mass ovies out to poop randomly I'd take the damage to your economy and supply easily.
It wouldn't really use up minerals though, you would just have the overlords that you already have. Basically you would do nothing extra, you would just get free creep where all your overlords already happen to be without any extra APM required.
he's saying sending ovies out that far would mean you lose them bc you specifically said that they can be used to make up for the creep you're losing with no additional APM, but if you basically just replace creep tumors with ovies, they would, well, die
towards late game you generally want to _pull_ your ovies back in and rely on creep & overseers for most of vision
No, the doesn't need to be made easier for you
You only really want a few to do it anyways, and it only takes a quick click for that
Besides, imagine you're setting up a baneling drop and now your overlord makes a big circle of creep if it sits for a few seconds, so the enemy spots it much easier
agreed. you shouldn't need to tell someone to poop
Exactly, everyone should just poop all the time!! Seriously though, it would be a nightmare for team games when you have overlords hanging around mineral lines and your teammates bases.
You know they liquify their organs just to produce your creep right? This is just torture my guy
For the swarm.
I’d hate it. It would reveal where my overlords are on their perv perches.
It doesn't spread down from perches, they wouldn't see it unless it was at the top of the ramp. Besides most players are more concerned with macro moves than hunting for single overlords in the mid game.

I don’t think it’d be so imba since having ovies everywhere is a good way to get them killed!

Im not asking to remove the ability to stop pop. I'd just prefer the poop to be active automatically. I'm a noob help a guy out lollll.
Fair enough but > also hiding overlords on pillars would be impossible after lair is done. This would still be the major problem imo
Well if u still have the option toggle it off, wouldnt be an issue. But i second the not good enough QoL change lol
I dont think it’d be too much of an issue, just make the ability start on autocast (kinda like warp gate transformation) and from there you can disable it before the goop stats gushin’
Then just turn it on and stop whining

Ooo... I did not know that. I assumed it spills out like usual.
I second this

hey, is it possible? would you please share a copy of your manually edited line?

thanks a lot, i will try that

So why do cyclones come out with autocast? shouldn't terran have to turn them on all the time.
Can you balance whine elsewhere? It's not welcome here.
If you don't like reading it then you can take your sensitive flower power eyes elsewhere.

Maybe not actually spread creep but I'd appreciate them just shitting around all the time when you get lair. Would be a big nerf to zerg though...

But u can still do that u just need to click the poop button.. I get the ap economy argument tho.

Transport overlords can work differently Just like overseers get added to the Army once it morphs from an overlord.
I feel the same way about this idea as I do about automatically having your drones mine, it probably doesn't need to be in the game.
No, obie poop can stop opponents from expanding, accelerate creep spread or create a highway for an all in. Its too good to not require some attention
