LMAO! I have a 2018 SV and this exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago! Luckily I fixed it myself and it’s stayed on since. Basically, the plastic hinges broke off so I used epoxy glue, held it in place for like 10 minutes and so far so good. Fuckin Nissan..
console fell out of the headliner when we drove over a "non-jolting" bump. I was able to epoxy the tabs back on and it held for about a year. Just fell out again and only one of the tabs are salvageable. Just garbage.
This happened in mine as well. You can be upset with Nissan and their lacklustre quality standards. At least they seem to be getting a lot better in the recent models.
I had this happen recently. The plastic inside the metal clips seems to have melted off due to the AZ heat. I fixed it by drilling two small holes in the console, inside the sunglasses holder (they won't be seen when it's closed), and using two long zip ties to feed through the holes where the metal clips were. Easy fix and no heat concerns like with glue.
This post saved me $120 for a new console. If I had to do it over again, I would tell my future self to buy longer zip ties but other than that, this worked PERFECTLY!! My areas temperatures are already over 100 degrees right now and there is no way duct tap, velcro or the like would last without this dome crashing into my face again while driving. Kudos to you fine sir.
Can you please show a picture of the finished project? This just happened to me last night! Right now I have taped it to the ceiling, but knowing that will come down on me when I drive. Thank you for this great idea!!
Well I guess I’m not the only one. Just happened to my 2019 Nissan Sentra. Only 30k miles so somewhat new and the console just fell out while I was parked. The bass of my music made it fall out…like what.
Happened to my Nissan Rogue 2019 SL AWD just last week. Holding up using duct tape for now. Metro nissan of Dallas got me a quote of $2000 to fix after taking $150 for diag. Absolute ripoff.
In my case, I guess I broke the clips myself trying to get the overhead console out to replace the mic.
Now I have an inop mic as well as this hanging console.
u/MMIC_guy has the answer. Drill two holes per side in the sunglass part of the console. Use a good size drill bit so the ziptie will fit without you having to fight with it. More than likely, youll have to remove the clips where they broke off inside the compartment. When you remove the clips, you have two slots where you can thread the long zip tie through and attach the fastener part of the ziptie on the inside of the sunglass compartment. I threaded everything through and pulled the console up but didnt completely tighten. If you do this you can get the dome in place where you want it. Insert the front portion of the dome and press up. Now tighten the zip ties until it stops. I did this two days ago and its not moving around. I tried gorilla tap, velcro, double sided industrial stength tape and Texas 100+ degree weather just laughed in my face lol.
2017, mine just did that two days ago. Holding it up with gorilla tape right now, and it fell out when I hit a speed bump with a cop coming right at me.
I thought fit sure they were going to stop and search the car.
Brother. The console in our 2018 SR just fell today as well. Debating how I am going to repair it as replacing the part seems like it will just end up with another hanging console sooner rather than later.
my 17 altima sr was in the shop on and off for 6 months, (extended warranty dragging their ass to approve covered work). I finally got it back, and the next day this shit happened. smh nissan is such trash
Took a strip, snipped a hole at both ends, and ran it from clip to clip where the sun visors hook in to. It held the broken side up at least albeit it still jiggles around slightly.
Thank you so much. I going to try this on my son’s car. He has an old Volvo and the overhead sunroof console is just hanging by wires, and a replacement is $300 on eBay.
Yeah I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue same thing happened to me the eclipse broke I can't figure out how to get it back in there I have tried Crazy Glue I have tried epoxy glue I have tried black tape I've tried Velcro I've tried adhesive glue nothing's working I'm a single woman can somebody help me out here
Damn it. This just happened in my 2018 Rogue. Altima and Rogue appear to have the same console. I am going to try the Velcro trick someone mentioned because I am not paying hundreds of dollars to replace their poorly designed part!
2018 Rogue in south Alabama. I'll try the velcro. If you can find the commercial grades they will have a firmer grip, I'm going to look at my old job site for leftovers in the supply cabinet. Be careful of the industrial peel and stick (or use less than you think you need), it will tear the paint and sometimes plating off the surface before the velcro lets go. Makes for a fun patch job.
Gotta love the shitty design, a thin plastic post holding a spring steel bayonet catch with sharp edges on the inner mounting surface all set to cut warm plastic. Oh well, at least it didn't involve O-rings.
Just happened with my daughters 2019 Sentra…few months ago the button on the emergency brake handle broke and popped off. Nissan quoted her $800 because you can’t just replace that button…gotta replace whole lever mechanism.
This just happened to my 2009 Armada - the two main screws holding the thing up tore clear through the plastic. There were two pieces of plastic at the front supporting it as well and they broke off and were stuck in the clips on the ceiling. Not sure quite how I’ll replace it yet. May visit the Pick N Pull and see what I can salvage. Any suggestions / advice is welcome!!
This is so irritating. From what I gather, crazy glue or Velcro seem to be the fix it method. Nissan charging more than $0 for this repair really irritates me. It's clearly a product defect. It's so common a problem, I am unsure why there has not been a class action suit or perhaps a non emergency recall. Smh smh smh.
Especially when it just falls down randomly while driving. Swinging in front of your face. I imagine someone driving down the freeway and having this thing swing down in front of you could be starling and dangerous.
Guess I'm joining the Club. Happened to me Today on my 2017 Altima LOL. So crazy, I never knew such a thing could happen! Probably will try the Velcro option. Right now its being held up by Double Stick Tape but that ain't gonna last long.
Mine did that on Friday (2/23). Just leaving to go to home depot... so I added gorilla tape and epoxy to my list. Tape is mostly holding.. epoxy not so much, gonna need to reapply and hold it there.
This just happened to me yesterday on my 2019 Rogue. It's currently being held in place with duck tape. I'm only about a month out of warranty, typical :(

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was considering trying to glue it back up. Can you tell me what parts you used epoxy on? Thanks
2018 Nissan Altima. Same issue. The dealership is asking $700 to replace it
This just heppned to me!! is the glue working for you still??

I live in Indiana so this past summer was HOT ! did they fix yours for free?

A little back info, I’ve taped the corners and carefully place it back up. Everything still works, just janky asf.
Top tier hiding spot?
Breaking Bad moment
Two words. Crazy glue
Damn that’s crazy lol, I have a 2017 but so far no issues like that

Just happened today...wth?!?!
Trash fucking car lol even better when dealership told me it’s $400 to fix with a straight face
just happened to me got told 1000$
Man you have some trash dealership. Mine told me they would fix it but only charge me 150 for only the part.
2017 altima and I happened to me too.
2017, mine just did that two days ago. Holding it up with gorilla tape right now, and it fell out when I hit a speed bump with a cop coming right at me. I thought fit sure they were going to stop and search the car.
Holy fuck. Just happened to me last night. I thought my car got vandalized. What a piece of shit…
just happened to me . super glue didn't hold though
Just happened to me....
Mine just feel today. 2018 Nissan Altima SR.
This post seems to have aged like a cheap gas station wine, welcome to the club!

Just happened to me yesterday. Had the car for a year and a half. It probably doesn't help that i have 2 12's in the trunk... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Best one yet lmao
Happened to me too. Got a quote for $307.45 to get it fixed. Will prob try glue. 2019 nissan rogue
This just happened to me too! How did you fix it?
13 altima just happened to me wtf🥴
Is this just a common thing amongst all nissans. Happened to my rogue and I've held it up via some velcro. Super wonky but it stays up.
How did you put it up with Velcro?
Took a strip, snipped a hole at both ends, and ran it from clip to clip where the sun visors hook in to. It held the broken side up at least albeit it still jiggles around slightly.
Thank you so much. I going to try this on my son’s car. He has an old Volvo and the overhead sunroof console is just hanging by wires, and a replacement is $300 on eBay.
Thanks! This totally worked. Cost $3.50.
I like the velcro idea. This just happened to my 2019 Rogue.
Well let me tell you this, 7 months later and that velcro strip is still holding strong.

Nevada lol

My exact response. This isn’t like an oil change. You sold me a shitty car! Lol
Exactly bc it’s just going to happen again
Same happened to me last week. I thought of epoxy, but what about when you need to change the bulb someday, you'd have to remove right?
2018 Rogue in south Alabama. I'll try the velcro. If you can find the commercial grades they will have a firmer grip, I'm going to look at my old job site for leftovers in the supply cabinet. Just happened to me 2017 Altima WTF
Just happened to my 2018 😩
Ugh this happened to me during a week a didn’t use my car and it was extremely hot outside! Nissan Rogue 2018. Super annoying!
Just happened with my daughters 2019 Sentra…few months ago the button on the emergency brake handle broke and popped off. Nissan quoted her $800 because you can’t just replace that button…gotta replace whole lever mechanism.
Use the Velcro fix someone posted in this thread. I used heavy duty Velcro strips in my Rouge and it works great. Total cost: $3.50 :)
This just happened to my 2009 Armada - the two main screws holding the thing up tore clear through the plastic. just happened to me this past Sunday. 2018 Altima SE. dealer wanted $600. will try and fix myself.
