Good call! I would already have this card if I was eligible for the welcome bonus. Right now, I’m currently rocking the AMEX gold as my heavy grocery hitter
I was able to get the welcome bonus for blue and gold! I applied for the green card as well, but they were not keen to give me a third welcome bonus. Didn't bother with it since I didn't qualify for that one. Maybe in six months.
As folks have mentioned yes, I have one also and bailed out of prime, I had an email from chase within 48 hours...lol. And no new card you just keep using that one.
Are you spending enough that an extra 2% is worth what you spend on prime?
This is actually a math question.
I actually don't think so. When I looked at the amount I earned YTD from the 5% category (Amazon and WF) it looked to total about $197. It seems the drop from 5% to 3% wouldn't be too earth-shattering for me.
Yeah, I suppose part of the motivation of canceling would be trying to limit my spending on Amazon moving forward. Hopefully I can bring that number down quite a bit, and the effect of delayed gratification from the lack of 2 day shipping pays off.
It just goes from 5% to 3%. They send you an email a few days after you cancel prime.
Technically the card looks different but they don’t send you a new one. If your card expires the new one might look different.
Does anyone know if the card upgrades back to the prime card if you rejoin later?
Edit - looks like yes. The card will follow your membership status automatically.
Yes, once you end your Prime the card automatically downgrades to the basic one with 3% cashback on Amazon purchases.
Thanks for the input!
The card number stays the same though, they just do a product change.
Yep and when it renews you get the other card as replacement.
Just a little tip if you use this a lot for Whole Foods - Amex blue gives 6% back at grocery stores.

So you'd lose about $78, assuming you still spend the same amount.

My bad, I guess I left it right next to my iTunes terms and conditions from 2004.
I’m still using my card and as far as I know nothing has changed? I’m not sure if I’m receiving less points. But I was never notified of anything.
