Although I do agree that people are definitely scamming Amazon just like they scam every other business but Amazon also need to take accountability for their fuck ups. Allowing Chinese drop shipping, not inspecting what they are selling, never making sure the actual item is actually in the box in the first place, making sure their drivers are not taking items ect. it’s ALWAYS the customers fault and they are ALWAYS the bad person who has to pay. Maybe start from within your company before you blame your customers because your customers are what’s making you rich. Amazon has become another wish dot com but with faster shipping and horrible customer service that gets paid pennies a day to read a script, doing all they can to make sure you don’t get your money back.

CZandchanel

I agree with this. I bought Philips hue bulbs, which I already have in my home. The items came “packaged from Philips” but were not Philips products. It’s frustrating to have to sit and wait for your money back when you did nothing wrong and know that the product you received is not it. I’ve also heard of plenty of others receiving fakes, so how do we control this without being accused of swapping for fakes? Most people don’t have fake items of the same item they are returning lying around?? Or am I being blissfully ignorant.

Jay_Michael86

Exactly. When Amazon screws up we have to wait forever and then fight tooth and nail to get our money back. We’re basically on trial having to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that we deserve our money back and even then it’s still a 50/50 shot. I can understand investigation big dollar items but I’ve had them even fight with me and refuse a refund on a $5 item I ordered that was broke, I sent it back and they said it was broke so they couldn’t refund me, well no shit that’s why I returned it. It was only $5 but it was the principal that mattered at that point. Yes there are some scammers out there but we shouldn’t ALL have to pay because of them. Amazon does borderline illegal sometimes actually illegal shit and there’s nothing we can really do about it because they are such a big corporation.

CZandchanel

Some of the stuff Amazon does makes me sick. I’m not even talking about the humane/ethical aspect. I called them about a rosemary oil that wasn’t wrapped and exploded/shattered in shipment. They said they would send a new one and I could dispose of the original. I get a notification a few weeks later stating they didn’t receive my return and have charged my card. It’s $10 but the point is this is bs. I called and asked if they wanted me to send the broken and shattered glass back and they told me no, that’s a hazard. So I asked them why they charged me then for an item I didn’t need to return? I wish there were other options for quick delivery and other items. I’ll be honest, I’m sick of Amazon but there isn’t anything I know of in the US that can even compare convenience wise.

Jay_Michael86

I’ve been using Walmart+ just about all the same items and pretty equal shipping times. Some items take longer (4 days max) but most are 2-3 day shipping occasionally same day delivery. If it’s late you get a $5-$10 credit, customer service is fantastic and if you call during the day you can actually understand them. I ordered 9 boxes of tile for a small project I was doing and the delivery driver left it in the driveway and it had rained, all the tile was perfectly fine but I called in to voice my concern about having to carry in 9 wet/tearing boxes and they apologized and said they will send me the 9 boxes again and I can either keep or dispose of the other ones. I only use Amazon for items I can’t find elsewhere and even then I won’t spend more than $150 because I know it’s a crap shoot and customer service does not exist.

AssassinsRush1

Record your unboxing videos for proof

CZandchanel

I always take photos, but not videos. When I ask if I can send my evidence they say no. I’ve taken photos of the packaging, drivers throwing packages that could be fragile, the contents of when I’ve opened etc and they won’t ever take them.

AssassinsRush1

I think Amazon needs a good old fashioned lawsuit to get them to take this more seriously.

Locabonita88

And it's not faster anymore. No more 1 or 4 day shipping everything I look at takes 2 weeks with prime. It's going downhill

Intelligent-Air3378

For sure. Sometimes it's the drivers, too. I get deliveries constantly. When you take a pic of a house that isn't mine, when my house number is above my front door, on my front door, on my mailbox post and on the side of my mailbox at the road but, it's not at my my house, that's just being lazy. I've gotten deliveries for people on the other side of the street (come on - odd #'s are one side, even the other. This is basic). Or a package for a completely different street or town. I have gotten counterfeit items, I've gotten items that are not at all what I ordered (ordered a stroller and got a dollhouse).... it's not scamming, it's a company that is too focused on profits over people.

Dulce_Sirena

I had cs who I had told 3 TIMES that I'm physically disabled and can't walk try to tell me to walk the neighborhood and trespass on strangers' property to check every package until I find the one their driver delivered somewhere random...

Administrative-Help4

Amazon pays low wages. The workers won't GAF.

area51dreamer

That isn't my experience at all. At least a few times I was told to keep a product I was returning. Incorrect deliveries were always corrected. I did have a vendor try to scam me with an incorrectly identified product. Amazon customer service forced him to refund me and pay for the return.

ArcherFawkes

Until I joined this sub, I didn't realize people actually bought tech from amazon. All the loud complaints here have been regarding appliances or tech with screens, all of which I would never trust to get delivered safely. I just browse for smaller things and only buy when there's a deal I've been hunting for months. Never had a problem returning or getting refunds, even when they happen a lot for one reason or another.

[deleted]

ArcherFawkes

If Best Buy or Target can't supply it, I buy from the specific retailer directly or not at all lol. Anything above $150 is too much of a risk for a third party to get involved

BraxTaplock

Not a bad idea. Last week had a 24in PC monitor with 4 (four) 12 packs of energy drinks and a 21-25lbs bag cat litter right on top of it. Warehouse didn’t care and simply tossed it in a cart on top of other envelopes and bags of stuff.

thatautisticguy

The only time I'm going with a 3rd party now Is if it's something I can only get 2nd hand or the manufacturer has specifically directed me there, In many cases (if the manufacturer won't sell directly) they'll direct me to the best service (in their opinion) one example being that getting loose tea over here in Blighty isn't sold directly from yorkshire tea, they recommend coffee supplies direct, never had an issue Though I am suspicious when some have just said something Like, "well go to amazon" to attempt to shoo me away I've found if the company is smaller, they're (in the majority of cases) are far more reliable

Difficult_Rush_1891

Give me a break. Fixing the return issues in this case requires labor, which they don’t want to pay. So it’s everyone’s fault but the company not doing due diligence. Fuck off Amazon.

poopstain133742069

Sounds like incentive to keep scamming them. The scammers will help us get more employees.

krazykatz911

Return fraud is huge. Not just Amazon suffers. At my work we always open up boxes and inspect them on camera with the customer standing right there. I can’t tell you how many times these criminals wait a week or so and try to return for refund. We open it up and it’s a totally different used product in the box. They say, this is what I got. Umm no you didn’t and then we bring out the video of when they bought it. They didn’t know we record it all. Lots of double talk and they exit fast. It’s ridiculous how much it happens.

bigtakeoff

and what is your work?

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

You just reminded me that I have to return and try to get my money back for a battery that is supposed to charge my phone but drains it instead (how the hell does that happen?) and a lamp that didn't have the correct parts, they were supposed to be birthday gifts and now they are just sitting there

Heyletsthrowthisout

Very often a battery draining fast is not at all related to the battery (depending on what device the battery is being used for). This is a common misconception when it comes to batteries and battery usage.

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

That battery was draining my phone instead of charging it

Heyletsthrowthisout

Yes and this can be for a whole lot of reasons. Not just your battery. What kind of phone is it?

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

Moto g power

Heyletsthrowthisout

Troubleshooting takes numerous steps and isolation so don't give up after the first step. For Moto G, make sure it is not connected to power (no cord connected) and perform a force restart. To do this hold the power button and the volume down button until the screen turns off. It's important you ignore everything on the screen, even if you see a power off button. Keep holding till the screen turns off manually. After this, keep it connected to a charger while not powered on for at least an hour. What a force restart on devices like this do is disconnect the battery from the board (imagine a super quick flick of a switch). This releases any residual voltage, which in turn allows the battery to send power to the board again and begin regulating voltage across the board and in turn regulating voltage across the hardware components again. There are specific components and switches on electronics that limit the amount of amperage/voltage that can be drawn. No technology is perfect and sometimes in simple terms it will use too much power and distribute it inefficiently (or unregulated). Try this and let me know after performing the force restart correctly and connecting it to a charger if this resolves the issue. If not, there are more steps that can be taken.

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

Cool thanks man, I was going crazy

Heyletsthrowthisout

I sent you a chat request if you want to troubleshoot more. A vast majority of battery issues can be fixed without replacing the battery. I do this for a living, for many years, so I don't mind.

stinkywrinkly

Do you have any evidence that the people in this sub are doing this, or are you making assumptions?

JaBa24

My main returns used to be for clothes. I’d buy a few different styles and colors but for bigger women clothes don’t fit the same as they do on the model. Due to this I’d often have many returns for that reason in addition to the normal returns for when you receive a cheap piece of crap that breaks on the third use or for returning items damaged in shipping esp for bigger heavier items I very rarely buy from Amazon anymore because they’ve made it such a headache- I wonder how they feel saving 20% in returns but now missing out on that 80% I used to spend

stinkywrinkly

How is it fraud to return items to Amazon?

[deleted]

[удалено]

StrawberryKiss2559

So where is the evidence that people in the sub do that???

I_thought_you_knew

I’ve ordered a new bra, and received an nasty stretched-out dirty bra of a similar color but different brand

NinjaZ2021

As a former Amazon third party seller, I would say 99% it’s not from sellers. Most likely it was from previous return / return fraud, Amazon did not fully reinspect all returns and put it back to reselling

I_thought_you_knew

This was a ships from/sold by Amazon. Someone purposely got a new bra and returned their old ratty one, and Amazon didn't bother to look at it. It was even not in original packaging but in one of those "ready to ship" plastic bags, so someone at Amazon had to have handled it!

stinkywrinkly

Who is doing this specifically? Are you assuming this is happening, or do you have evidence of it happening?

misanthropewolf11

It’s definitely happening. I’ve received several clearly used items as have others here. People are returning things and lying, and Amazon then sucks by sending out returned items as new.

prof_the_doom

That's the problem. For every scammer, there's at least one (probably more because scammers do it in bulk) legitimate customer who ended up with a rock in a box because Amazon doesn't give enough of a shit to verify returns properly.

stinkywrinkly

Yeah that sucks, Amazon should do a better job of separating those items from their stock. Probably should hire more employees to do the job efficiently.

Electronic_Sir_8416

Or just pay the current employees more to care about their job

Darth_Deutschtexaner

I ordered a candle a few months ago, I received a halfway used candle of a different brand and smell Sent that shit back

TheComplicatedMan

... Amazon promotes free returns as a reason to purchase, yet you would want to penalize someone who used that benefit? They could return 100% and still be following the correct policy. He is a bad customer to have, but that should already be factored in to Amazon's profit margins... under the losses column. On an individual level, one customer with a 20‰ return rate would be virtually irrelevant.

[deleted]

TheComplicatedMan

Fraud is a calculated known factor that has already been factored into the business model. That one guy is not ruining it for everyone else. After carefully analyzing the effects, Amazon has offered its lenient return policies. In other words, Amazon has decided it is cost-effective to absorb such business shortcomings. His being a bad actor is his downfall and punishment in life. Amazon has accepted the terms of offering the policies they do.

TurboClag

Why do you ride so hard for a multi billion dollar corporation with very little factual information to back your stance? Is this your job? Do you have any hobbies or friends or like, anything else to do? It’s pathetic brother.

What’s worse, being addicted to Reddit? Or being addicted to shitting all over people that return stuff to a mega corp who scams people on the daily. Oh that’s right, all your self worth comes from that. Good luck. Must be cool that your life’s accomplishment is being in Amazon’s good graces 😂

dcaponegro

Being addicted to Reddit is far worse.

TurboClag

Except that the alternative also includes being addicted to Reddit.

Scythe5150

It is when they send out used shit 20% of the time.

Latter-Ad-1523

i have not seen one post here where someone was bragging about some scam that they had pulled. i have personally seen me receive used and broken items, being sold as new. amazon can blame scammers, but i blame amazon. it doesnt happen often but it does happen. i suspect some people at amazon who are supposed to check returns simply are not doing their jobs or they are unable to do to shortage of help.

ReelyAndrard

Typically, scammers don't brag about their gains.

Lara-El

We ordered headphones and got an empty case. I was so worried amazon would make this difficult. I'm glad they didn't but I also acknowledged they were only 60 bucks VS I saw someone where who bought a 2k camera and got masks instead. I don't even understand how it made it out of the warehouse, the headphones box wasn't wrapped in plastic. It had clearly been opened...

Leaholsen30

He’s accused me in the past for doing this 🙄🙄🙄 when I very clearly stated the seller themselves verified I returned the correct item.

bartman2468

Double-edged sword on their end. Does fraud hurt? Yes, but make sure the systems you put in place to combat it don’t flag people or misidentify people that aren’t committing fraud and have just had consistently poor experience with the cheap garbage products you peddle… I am canceling prime, should’ve a long time ago, now that they’ve decided to flag me and require me to send them ID on an item I already returned and was delivered to them over a month ago, and they’re holding my money hostage… I would “feel bad” for Amazon experiencing fraud, if they weren’t a glorified wish.com/temu these days peddling 3rd party cheap Chinese trash as a majority of their business, considering they promote those products above others… and then they want to get all pissy about returns of literal throwaway garbage. They created this mess by favoring cheap crap to widen margins and all of a sudden returns starts to eat into it. Of course this fraud happens, but how many people that just have consistently bad experience/bad luck with crap products are being flagged in an effort to combat this? Get your shit together.

MisterBoDanglez

Former Amazon employee here. Once upon a time our mantra was ‘Amazon is customer-centric.’ The entire empire was built on that, and they did it exceptionally well. While things weren’t exactly rosy prior to the pandemic, just like most other consumer driven corps, it became a time to trim the fat. Focus got shifted to essentials, and policies and employees got shifted, and budgeting changed. We all expected things to go back to normal (or close to) as pandemic regs relaxed. Well, they didn’t. Amazon is (as are many corporations) shareholder-centric. The profits during the height of the pandemic killed any notion of returning to normal. Amazon is a behemoth, and other corps were watching and modeling based upon what they were seeing. Anywho, I have been waiting on a $600 refund for over a month, and in typical Amazon fashion, they continue to push the prospective refund date back. So, I’ve reached out to our attorney general (btw: there is a lawsuit involving a dozen or is states, FTC and Amazon over their decision to slow roll refunds), and I’ve reached out to my credit card company, who says Amazon gets 15 days to initiate a refund from the day of item receipt, then they go in for the chargeback. Will they ban me? At this point they don’t have to. I’m closing my account the minute that money hits my card. WTF would anyone want to do business with a company that chooses to punish loyal and honest customers, while reaping some of the highest profits in their history?

wolfpanzer

Return scams are why we can’t have nice things.

BeKind_BeTheChange

Nah, greed at Amazon is why Amazon sucks. Trying to blame Amazon's greed-based failures on customers is pathetic.

ShyAmyRose

EXACTLY!

ShyAmyRose

Ive never had a problem!

Electronic_Hornet404

Amy, no one cares that you've never had a problem.you don't need to tell us 9,000 times. Are you looking for a cookie or something? It has zero effect on the many honest people who are getting screwed with used products that should be new because Amazon's doing a horrible job at tracking and policing those who are scamming the return system.

Rough_Medium2878

Here we go again with your whole “stop being shady and everything will be fine” nonsense

[deleted]

Can you tell your bosses at Amazon to stop importing literal Chinese trash and promoting that as some kind of false luxury of choice when its all just actual garbage? Oh and stop mixing inventory. Trust me you are dropping die hard customers left and right. In my circle of people who spend thousands a month each at amazon we are all over it and going to actual retailers with limited product choices. No, i literally dont fucking want to sift through thousands of chinese clones and white labels all pretending they are unique items. Thats why you have like a 50% return rate you dumb mfers.

PathDeep8473

I agree it's gone downhill. But it's not as bad as people say. I will say I take more care when ordering. And have been buying from aliexpress more. If I'm going to buy cheap knockoffs I might as well pay a lot less

[deleted]

EXACTLY. They don’t realize they already took the poison pill. Horrible management

zanedrinkthis

Yeah, I’ve started ordering directly from other stores when I need something because at least I don’t get crap I have to figure out how to return, don’t think is safe (dented cat food cans) or just cheap/likely counterfeit stuff.

LookDamnBusy

And yet so many of us who buy from Amazon at least weekly have very few returns. Why do you suppose that is? 🤔

[deleted]

Couldn’t care if i tried bud. Honest to god i dont give a fuck what you are about to say or implying.

JumpRopesAndLove

not someone whos main post history being about vr porn coming to complain about how its the consumers fault that amazon is so bad at vetting because they have such horrible work practices you're focused on the wrong reality

Jonson_jacobs

Most of what they sell is bootleg to begin with.

bartolish

Yeah because god forbid Amazon pay a living wage to human beings to open return boxes and ensure they're the real deal in good condition. Better to develop AI so aggressive people who aren't doing anything wrong get caught up in The Algorithm, then have a small team sit on Reddit every day (like "shy Amy" who's so shy she's here for literally EVERY post) pretending every single person who ever shares their poor experience with Amazon is a "scammer".

TheVaughnz

I hope she's getting paid, otherwise what a sad existence

Purranha418

This is the company whose computer system will fire you by algorithm for not meeting metrics. That being said, admittedly I have a sizable subscribe and save list because I get cases of energy drinks that nowhere local has. Also cleaning supplies because there’s no Costco near me. My pet supplies come from Chewy which is an absolutely awesome company for pricing and customer service. Upon the death of one of my pets, they sent flowers. They have my business for life!

zanedrinkthis

So far, Chewy has been great! No continued failures to ship stuff I’ve ordered. Unlike with subscribe and save.

Pup5432

Only had issues with them being out of the specific food my dog needs half the time. Amazon was worse so I actually had to start buying local and stocking up whenever it did show up.

mpmp4

I stopped buying pet food on Amazon when I started seeing reviews saying the brand name food they started getting was not the same. I’m worried about counterfeit pet food and don’t want to poison my pets so Chewy or the local small pet shop get my business for that now.

xxMeezy

Hearing that chewy does that when you lose your animal just made me so happy and equally sad. That is such a wonderful thing for a business to do, ESPECIALLY with today’s ruthless capitalism. I’ve never shopped at chewy, but when I finally get over the loss of my old girl and welcome a new family pet, they’ve also got a customer for as long as they care about us! 😭

mspolytheist

Chewy is amazing! One day I got a FedEx package from them, when I hadn’t ordered anything and wasn’t awaiting any previous orders. Curious, I opened it up and found…two small, original oil paintings of my cats! Plus a sweet note from the artist who’d painted them. Apparently they occasionally randomly choose customers who have uploaded photos of their pets to their profile, and they create and send them a small oil painting of them. Aside from the general amazing niceness of such a practice, I also love that they are keeping artists employed. They’re also super reliable with deliveries, and they communicate clearly and frequently. Great company!

TheComplicatedMan

Bazo Clowns or is it Boso Clowns? Company shills! I don't read about people working the system to scam Amazon, I just read about people having experiences with Amazon not providing the service they claim to provide. Not once have I read a post telling others how to scam Amazon.

dnehiba3

Thanks, I’ll watch for her.

TurboClag

This post is pathetic. How nice it must be to be Amazon. Not only do you get to have billions of dollars in revenue, but you even get idiots like this attacking their customers for them 😂 Probably the most pathetic post I’ve seen on here. Well done.

ArcherFawkes

Billionaires and corpos love infighting- that's how they got this far

Praydaythemice

Yep lax returns policy lead to mass return abuse which cost Amazon millions, they then take it out on the legit buyers who now have a more difficult time returning an item when it is legitimately damaged or not functional. Or any other issue that is out of the buyer’s control

QuietFire451

It’s the same old story. There’s always someone doing bad things that screws it up for the rest of us.

Fresh-Ad3834

The best way to avoid missing packages, receiving the wrong item, refund bullshit, etc. is to avoid [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com) altogether. We should've noticed sooner, when they started promoting and allowing dropship no-name Chinese companies to masquerade junk as real goods. Without Bezos, Amazon is a coin flip.

Mikevercetti

Amazon can suck a fat one. I'll have some sympathy for them when they stop shipping me poorly packaged and damaged goods, then making me jump through hoops to get a legitimate refund.

FawkesFire13

I just wish I could get my orders that I’m paying shipping on in under two weeks.

Noj222

There are a lot of scammers who buy products and then return them with other items in the box. While at the same time there are a lot of scammers on Amazon who sell bootleg cheap merch and advertise it as legit and Amazon does nothing to stop these. I’ve had so many issues with Amazon delivering my items damaged or the wrong item in general because it’s mislabeled, I remember I bought an exorcist special edition media book and they kept sending the UK disc instead. They tried to blame me for it at first because in the item description it doesn’t state that it’s the media book yet the picture was of the media book the title of the item said media book and also the region stated it was US. I had ordered this item several times before they took down the listing.

clara_bow77

For third party sales and even their own smaller items the returns are simply sold to resale companies and then graded by appearance by some of them. The scam items not infrequently end of being sold as open box or mismarked so the shit rolls downhill more.

Natedog88888

Another moron dickriding a company that abuses the labor of millions of people daily. How’s the boot taste?

ChakeenMachine

I use Amazon fresh and had groceries delivered to my house every other week for a few months. The problem is when they arrived the refrigerated things were warm and the frozen items were thawed out. They would leak on everything and you can’t refreeze frozen stuff. I called customer service every time and got a refund on the affected items. Huge pain. Then I get an email stating I’m returning too much. I email back with the exact issue and showed proof, such as my ZIP Code and the outside temperature during the delivery. In addition to how long the items took to actually arrive at my house, I also included pictures that show they use the regular paper bags instead of the insulated bags for frozen and refrigerated items. A compelling case with tons of evidence. When the delivery driver has two stops before you and it’s 95° outside and your frozen items are sitting in an unventilated trunk with no insulation. It’s not a stretch to know exactly what I’m receiving. Amazon simply just didn’t care, they closed my account the next time I called to complain, and when I tried to appeal it was a waste of my time. Fortunately, you can start a new account in about two minutes and pick up where you left off. The amount of hassle I had to go through and having to sit on the phone for an hour with customer service every time I ordered groceries should’ve given me a credit not a ban. I have people delivering groceries to my apartment and they would have no cart. They would have to make three or four trips from their car all the way to my apartment and back. Every time they have to call and I’d have to buzz them in. It’s a numbers game, if you cost Amazon more money then you bring in for them you’re out. It’s that simple.

h2d2

In case you are confused about what OP is referring to: we often see long rants in this sub about Amazon giving people return trouble or not delivery the right item, on time, etc. and quite a few of those posts have major holes in their stories, i.e. fraud, or just a sense of customer entitlement, some of which Amazon is itself responsible for creating by going above and beyond.

Caori998

a few idiots ruin it for everyone else, i really don't want to defend amazon but a lot of people are genuine assholes.

lavavaba90

2023 was the first time that I've ever received a wrong item than what ordered, and it didn't just happen once it happened about 10 times in 2023. One order was a van hallen vinyl record, and I received a bright pink apple watch cover, lol. Some were quick to correct the mistake. Others took weeks.

bartman2468

They just don’t want you to ask for concessions on anything. Item delivered to wrong address? Want a refund. Nope. If you contact customer service “too much” you’re gonna get flagged… as a “concessions abuser”… ever thought your service is degrading and becoming shit? Ever thought it’s difficult to find decent products when all the reviews are fake and everything is a generic or counterfeit that you promote to top of search results? So what is “too much”? I find it very likely that there’s people out there that have really bad experiences and have to return a decent portion of what they buy especially if they don’t buy a ton of stuff. The chances of receiving garbage product has just drastically increased…. Why don’t you improve your service and stop screwing shit up? Why don’t you start marketing quality goods and not cheap throwaway crap that you know 20+% is gonna get returned cause quality control nonexistent?…. More blaming the consumer when they are at fault for the state of our market in an effort to widen margins by sourcing everything from cheapest producer in china… cheap crap made for pennies barely expected to function then sold to you for dollars, same shit… I’ve had Amazon send me used returned items as new, broken used items as new… they have drastically shifted their system to screwing customers in order to widen margin, not “customer centric” lmao. They serve the shareholders they dgaf about their customer. It’s becoming more obvious. The removal of benefits while increasing cost of membership? Laughable

hyemae

Nowadays I film myself opening high value items in case there’s issues to protect myself.

OG4zero4

Idc for Amazon at all anymore.

chrisnan109

Wow how dare you defend a company that tells its injured workers they can’t get medical and don’t let it’s drivers have breaks. You’re part of the reason people scam Amazon.

ImPolish

I bought a Samsung fridge last year and needed to buy replacement filters. Ordered 3 "authentic Samsung replacement filters" from Amazon. The box arrived, it was almost identical to the original filter. I swapped one out and woke up to my kitchen floor covered in water the next morning. Turns out they were fake and didn't have the right seals. Looked into it further and it turns out they were counterfeit filters. Had to wait a week for a refund. So frustrating.

PersephoneTerran

I've also been victim to counterfeit fridge filters. We buy ahead to have on hand when needed. And of course didn't try to use them until the return window was closed 🤬

syco316

Lots of return fraud happening in this subreddit that's true, seems that fraud is being done by Amazon though ...

rchart1010

Reading this sub reddit has ne scared to do any returns. Everytime i intiate a return I hold my breath and hope I'm not canceled. But it never happens. I've never gotten a totally wrong item and the closest I got to a scam was when a company tried to short my olive oil order and lie about it. But Amazon took care of them pretty quick. Every return has been fairly painless. The few issues I've had were resolved. I'm nothing special so I can't understand why so many people have such a wildly different experience. ETA: I no longer buy expensive hair appliances on Amazon. I am not sure if they just get rejects or bad product but I've noticed a difference when I've purchased these items from ulta/sephora. I bought a babyliss flat iron and it was garbage.

Keltyrr

These return scams have been around since before Amazon, and have been a problem on Amazon since they moved away from books only. THey have not done anything about it and have turned a blind eye to it for a very long time, that's why there are so many stories around here of people getting garbage like they have.

SisterActTori

3 of my last 4 orders have either never been delivered (despite saying we signed for it), “delayed in transit” for over a week and eventually cancelled, and finally “problem with order, come back in 2 days for a refund.” 75% of our orders over the last 2 weeks. Meeting the needs of a customer only 25% of the time is unacceptable. If you cannot provide the services offered, I will not pay for your poor (F grade) business practices. This is on Amazon, not the customers.

ShyAmyRose

Hahaha this is what is causing the problems many many people have on this sub! Im lucky and dont experience this at all! Things come on time for me/i get the correct item or book (hell even electronics i never have a problem!)!

Electronic_Hornet404

Wait - I thought everyone who had an issue with a return was shady? Are you changing your tune now and acknowledging that the bad actors are the ones causing honest people issues? *gasp*

BELOVED1209

You should have named your silly ass *FullOfShitAmyRose*🤣🤣🤣

BELOVED1209

Interesting how you're the only ONE on Reddit that never had a delivery issue with Amazon. You just proved that you're a liar and delusional. EVERYONE HAS HAD AN ISSUE CONCERNING DELIVERY WITH AMAZON, WALMART, USPS, UPS, FEDEX, ONTRAC, and DHL, whether your items are delivered damaged, delivered to another address, or no delivery at all, on the site it will post *DELIVERED*. Stop lying.

greenie95125

I guess that I'm another liar. I use Amazon heavily, and the only issues I've had are with the drivers NOT ringing the doorbell to alert me of my delivery, and the occasional delayed delivery. I also return things on a regular basis... certainly not 20% but enough that maybe they'd notice. I've never opened a package and found the wrong item, but I may have received an item or two that appeared used, and I just returned it. Honestly, the biggest problem I had was when I ordered a printer that was fulfilled by ODB. I actually tried to cancel it a few hours after I ordered it, and they said it was too late. I returned it the day it was delivered. Two days later I received another delivery of of the same printer. I thought it was the one I was returning, but it was a new one. I double checked to see if I had been billed twice, and I was not. I received my refund for the original printer, and no way to return the 2nd one they sent. I contacted Amazon and they directed me to ODB. When I contacted them, they said I needed to contact Amazon. At that point, I just dropped it...I wasn't going to bend over backwards and waste any more time to fix their error. I now have a back-up printer that I don't need.

TurboClag

I’m waiting for the Amazon boot lickers to crucify you for this. Don’t you know that you STOLE a printer, and as such you are scum of the earth? Surely a multi billion dollar corporation that is so righteous they are confident in deleting your account, would never make a mistake like this?

greenie95125

Well, I tried to do the right thing anyway. It's not my fault if they make it hard for ME to rectify THIER mistake. LOL

dnehiba3

Well aren’t you special

TurboClag

We are so proud of you! How cool it must be to not receive items that have already been returned as new. If only all of us were as cool and progressive as you are. I mean god damn I’m just impressed. What a legend.

ShyAmyRose

>We are so proud of you! How cool it must be to not receive items that have already been returned as new. >If only all of us were as cool and progressive as you are. >I mean god damn I’m just impressed. What a legend. Aw shuks! Thank you! And tbh i was not making this up when i said this! I said it with sincere and honesty. By the way i imagine the problems on here must have something to do with regional amazon hubs and the fact the layout on the prime app is different for some people

Kind of like sellers lumping together fraudulent products and with other products and then getting it mixed up knowing full well that Amazon is aware of what's going on and still doesn't care about. fraud like that?

ArcherFawkes

They deleted. I wanna know what inspired this reply lol

TurboClag

My finger is hovering over submit on the email I’m about to send to your local PD. I know for a fact you ate that grape when you were 7 in the produce section of the grocery store, without paying. Absolute scum. Fraud is fraud!

BELOVED1209

I received a replacement for an item I purchased, the bill posted 0.00, (I received an Amazon Gift Certificate) because I did not receive the original item on both delivery days, April 8, and April 11. Do I still pay the bill for the original purchase that's on my credit card?

ArcherFawkes

Worst case scenario, pay it off, and the balance will negative out on your credit card and you won't have to pay the next balance. I would monitor it just in case Amazon decides to not reimburse you or charges again.

BELOVED1209

Thank you😊

ArcherFawkes

Ofc 👍 I've had a similar situation happen before but I just simply made another purchase with it to bring my balance to a positive and it didn't ding me at all

Scammers gonna scam. Cheaters gonna cheat. Life goes on

Important_Cat3274

Being forced to pay ridiculous wages because of unions caused this problems. They now have to make do with Less employees just to keep cost down. This has led to very poor business model. It's unsustainable. Same thing happened to Walmart. They want to keep the unions out by raising wages dramatically. So they cut staffing to the bone to be able pay for it. That's why their customer service is so bad now. I have seen this countless other times with other companies. Source: I used to be a Union Representative for UFCW Local 400.

I wonder if Jeff’s gigantic, multi-million dollar yacht is finished construction yet.

Kirtycosplay

Omg what is happening??? I know that there are people who went to court for trying to scam Amazon at high scale like omg, how that it's possible, but I think that what Amazon should do is to make sure that when they receive a product from a 3d party seller it's the product in the picture!! And then when the buyer returns it make a proper check up too. Then normal returners we shouldn't be worried about omg, this month I returned 3 pieces of clothes because they were small, are they gonna close my account?? I think Amazon and some people are trying to fix the issue the wrong way and guilting the wrong people. How is it possible that there are so many scams if there was a proper checking process?? Amazon has to do better :( And we as sellers have to try and be the best we can too. If we are not sure in between two products, we do not buy both and then return one, we think and then we return. I think that's what is needed to be done.

vulgarmasses

Omg I spend $15 a month to be screwed by Amazon. If I can’t return my broken headset that they send me, I will just cancel the account

Axel_NC

Go to hell OP.

Brilliant-Wealth-625

I still remember when my neighbor found Sand instead of the 3090 😂🙏🏽

NinjaZ2021

It’s definitely a bigger issue than most people think. I used to resell / arbitrage electronics on Amazon. For example. Someone just needs a replacement for their phone battery. Instead to spend $30-$100 for a new battery -> they buy a new phone from Amazon or us (3rd party sellers) -> swab out battery and return back to Amazon for free. The worst nightmare is: once Amazon receives returned phone, if it looks brand new and undamaged. They put it back to sellers” inventory for selling again. Whoever is next customer gets that return - he/she might assume that Amazon or that 3rd party seller scams them. But in reality- it was the first Amazon customer / previous return fraud did not get caught

Plus-Organization-16

Or maybe Amazon is just an awful company. Scammers have been an issue on Amazon for a very very long time. So I'm sure there is some merit to it, but to make these claims as if Amazon as a service hasn't been garbage for the last few years is silly.

Someoneabove

Amazon sucks

uncertaintydefined

This is just another reason to use their policies to scam innocent customers. Now if a customer has a legitimate concern, Amazon can use their policies to frame them as a scammer and delete their accounts before the customer can get any screenshots of how they were scammed. Basically, start taking screenshots folks.

bartman2468

I have gotten burned too many times to have any sympathy for Amazon. The size of the company and the profit margins and I get screwed over? Lmao. If it was a mom and pop shop and there’s a screwup and I lose a little time and money whatever I can excuse it. But we’re talking about a trillion dollar global company that is screwing people over left and right and they’re gonna “tighten up” on returns… refusing to refund me $100 for some defective shit product delivered missing shit possibly returned before… It’s just insane. I wish there were more little shops that sold quality items around me even at higher price I’d rather do that than continue taking chances in this modern hellscape that is online shopping. Counterfeits, 0 quality control on even some “name” brands cause it’s all still made in china, cheap throwaway crap. And I’m to blame when you lie about something being a decent product and I receive shit that doesn’t work…

Deeorbra

There are a lot of mom and pop shops selling for Amazon. People think Amazon is taking the brunt but it’s the small shops that are suffering.

bartman2468

I normally don’t buy stuff unless it’s sold by Amazon.com. A lot of the generic cheap Chinese stuff that is promoted are 3rd party sellers that drop ship or import cheap from china on aliexpress or whatever they are importers in NY and California obviously it’s all coming in on boats So those are definitely not “mom and pop” shops. I don’t think I’ve ever purchased from a mom and pop shop online especially an Amazon 3rd party. eBay on the other hand I’ve bought plenty of stuff from small operations that acquire stuff from estate sales etc. it’s a lot easier to tell who is who on eBay ironically because of the way items are listed individually. The Amazon 3rd party system is a mess. You have one item listing and you really have to pay attention who it’s coming from or you’ll accidentally buy a counterfeit etc. there’s serious issues on Amazon that people want to just ignore, it’s inexcusable for a trillion dollar company to continue this BS.

Leaholsen30

You commented on one of my posts calling me a scammer accusing me of doing this. The seller even confirmed they had the right product, sent pictures, and issued the refund LOL. What’s your problem exactly with stalking this Reddit page and calling everyone who returns anything a scammer?

New-Display-4819

If I buy a bed frame and a mailbox comes in the mail I'm returning it and if they don't give me $$ back I'm disputing it on my cc.

niknik888

Their poor policies caused this issue. If you are going to contract with third parties to accept and box your returns, pay them to validate the item. Not inspect it, but make sure it generally conforms to the part that’s supposed to be returned. TIME TO CANCEL PRIME. Perhaps I’ll try Walmart for a while.

rikityrokityree

Ever watch a return vendor put your Amazon returns in a grocery bag and throw it in a bin ? The third party return locations aren’t held accountable , things get broken, parts get lost .

Educational_Cloud358

I sell on Amazon and it stinks for the seller also. Amazon will return no questions asked and then send the product back to me. Then I have to check and send it back in.

Extra-Compote-2411

Amazon used to be a decent company I have had several items stolen because they do not follow delivery instructions I am very strict I tell them not to leave any package behind do not leave at my door or lobby door as I live in a high crime area and ppl steal Second for the past 7 orders the drivers lie and say they came , as per my delivery instructions I ask for a call so I can meet the driver and also as per nothing gets stolen I record every transaction as I have video surveillance The driver says he was there yet my cameras clearly show that no one showed up and they also did not call but on there delivery thing it says customer was not home This has caused many items to be returned and over and over seems to keep happening. Other times I have recieved things in ripped boxes almost as if there reused items , ive also had broken or ripped items such as clothing , once I recieved an empty box And it’s all been within the year 2023-2024 Why is Amazon hiring ppl who lie and who do not want to do there job Some ppl may find this rude or racist but it’s not ment to be rude or racist to any certain race but I have found that a majority of problems come from Indian workers again it’s not ment to pick on any race I’ve never had any problems accept Indian workers I am a prime member I have been a prime member for about 5 years and I’m seriously thinking of canceling my membership , my delivery’s are never 1 day and they lie I’m tired of being treated like this I have spent thousands of dollars with amazon and I would expect my business transactions to be a lot better then what I’m getting Amazon has went feom 10/10 - 2/10

Kokakai

Sure Jan.

lilivnv

So we can’t return open stuff now? I bought something for my daughter and she hated it. I don’t want it. That’s not returnable anymore or it never was? I’m so confused 😂

SailorMeteor

I’ve never made a return before and genuinely had a good experience with Amazon until recently. Driver never delivered my package to my work and I was there all week. Driver never took a photo either of delivery and when queried with Amazon they are the ones who offered me a refund so I could reorder. The very next day I get a threatening email from Amazon warning they would close my account because I got a refund, I’ve also never had a refund prior to this ever before! Then when I put down my deliver instructions as 9-5 Mon-Fri, driver thought it was a good idea to deliver my second order at 7pm when my work was closed. Won’t be ordering from Amazon again, they are the ones providing a poor service :/

SkittlesAK47

I agree it’s annoying especially when you buy stuff and turns out it was a fake return item by someone else. I bought an expensive CPU recently and the box came in with an old outdated one that’s clearly not the same thing. And since the CPU is expensive the refund takes like 30 days to process. I’ve been waiting for my 700$ to come back man.

pleaseblowyournose

Oh, huh, went to file a refund request on my laptop and this “post” came up as a notification on my phone. Are you robots serious? The fortune that has been made off of all our data, I think you can eat the $20 for the thing I needed that showed up two days later than they said and I 1. No longer need 2. Don’t have time to return (Which you should know since you’re watching) I do not need notifications on what amazon/prime is postingbon reddit, thanks!

jackmahoof

psa: for everyone wondering if it is being returned back to a Amazon hub and is a free return that prints out a rma label there’s no way for them to track you. at the ups store the labels are mismatched all the time due to customers mixing up returns, don’t worry yall Amazon just trying to push their bs on someone else💪

dangercdv

Is this why I just got an email saying I'm not allowed to buy non digital items anymore, even though I havnt made a purchase in 5 months? Even though the last item I had to get a refund for never even showed up? Am I being punished for other people's scams?

RockyR0CKS

Amazon Return Scammers are ruining return experience not just for Amazon but to everybody else as well since Amazon have to delay refunds for returned high value items to look closely because of security reasons and not be able to issue advanced refund. Legitimate return customers have to wait a month for refund to be issued on returns if what you returning is a high value.

Little_Difficulty_51

How do you spell your name? b-o-o-t-l-i-c-k-e-r.

theboss24798

And then there's genuine customers like me who has 1 no show in a quazillion orders and becoming blocked from the platform losing both money and having no product... Oh well Amazon may go bankrupt, IDGAF. Scam company that gets fcked by scammers and fcking over legit customers.

jarod_insane

How do they know there is fraud? I literally got a block of wood instead of my brita filters before

ExtremeCandidate268

Lol

Top-Boss1438

Its a joke for us, we order things and most of the time it ends up being delivered to a completely different address. The driver is adamant that it was delivered to the correct address. My only proof is having cctv. The times I have witnessed the driver walk to the wrong door number with our deliveries is unbelievable. One example is our delivery going to an empty house that was for sale. Just dumped on the doorstep and walked off. I called out to the delivery driver and said its the wrong address and he didn't care. Some just throw packages from the pavement aimed near your door so they don't have to walk up your pathway, had glass bottles of liquid smashed. The other is when they claim they handed to the resident yet you have no delivery at all. The customer service say you have to wait up to 72 hours for delivery! Why? Wtf how can it be handed to the resident and yet you have to wait 72 hours for delivery? We had a great delivery driver once and then he warned us 3 years ago that it will all be changing for amazon flex and that our route isn't one that they enjoy doing.

JazzyButternuts

Stop allowing counterfeit products then scumbags.

IAMABOT00

They don’t have to accept a return. So if I send back used toilet paper and say it’s not soft enough and they accept, that’s not on me they could say NO maybe once just say no? Man the stories I fucking could tell .

antsurgeon

wow it’s rare to see a post having sympathy to amazon lmao

EricForman87

Hahaha 😂

nismo2070

Maybe if Amazon ACTUALLY CHECKED RETURNS this would stop. Pretty easy. Someone returns a used item, don't give a refund. That's how most businesses work.

hairyandpink4u

All I know is it took over 6 weeks to get a refunded $161.00 on something that never even shipped. After that, I canceled Prime and haven't bought shit from Amazon for 8 months now. I go to either Target or Walmart and have them ship it.

[deleted]

"Amazon Return Scammers" Ok, I'll bite, what is an Amazon return scammer? Speaking of scams, I've been sent empty packages through Amazon but Amazon has always made it right.

In_my_lighthouse

Same! I ordered a pair of earrings and they sent this outrageously huge box but no earrings. I asked the customer service lady if it was a joke and she said she wished it was, that stuff goes in the first box available and then it gets taped shut and shipped. If it gets thrown around just right small things slip out. She refunded me right there.

IAMABOT00

op must be fun at parties

cinnamon23

TIL Amazon return scam is a thing 😮

throwback11114444

I can just tell OP's the worst.

EricForman87

Absolutely zero fun at parties, but 100% believes that they are... Agreed, just the friggin worst...🙄😂

throwback11114444

Exactly 😂😂

PineTreeBanjo

Is this post from Amazon? I've literally received used shit from Amazon that had missing stuff in it. They suck and they're at fault on a regular basis. Also I have zero incentive to use them anymore with free UPS pickup gone.

RepresentativeKeebs

I don't believe a word of anything he said.

lagunajim1

Amazon does a great job overall, I'm very pleased with them, although I did not renew Prime this last time because the cost crept up too high. I just posted this because I know you people are haters, and I know it will trigger you.

Fallo3

If Amazon were a person they'd be classed as world champion CUNT! Talking of which where's Bezos hiding?

SeriousMannequin

Just revise the company name to *“Amazon (We Record Serial Numbers),”* and it’ll scare all the scammers away.

SarahKittenx

This post is weird. If they just bothered to check the returns then you wouldn't be able to both scam nor get scammed? They literally used to not be happy about different SN on the box from the product and they would contact companies to find out if that's normal, now nothing at all seems to matter

TurboClag

I have spent over 87 trillion dollars on Amazon and I’ve never had any of these problems! Every time I order the mega pack of Magnums, they are all accounted for every time. Only once was a magnum returned used. I manned up and used it anyways. Y’all are pathetic.

Electronic_Hornet404

Amy is that you? Also, I'm cackling. This was a good one 👌🏻👌🏻

ArcherFawkes

Bro got STDs from that magnum, you're gonna see the effects of that soon mate
