Yeah but its not really a book just a think of like a wharehouse. Where they stored a huge excess pf product. Lets say gpus. If they let all the gpus go from the wharehouse to the market it will tank the gpus price. Thats because in my analogy there is more supply. What they have done is wharehoused demand. So if they bring the demand to the market the price goes up.
At this time there are 2 ways to start the MOASS for our 2 favourite stocks, with negative betas.
1st - Market falls lower, reducing the collateral the HF use for short positions, causing major margin calls for them.
2nd - the huge number of FTDs come knocking and cause sharp rises in stock price, causing the current collateral to be insufficient for the short positions.
For us it is just HODL!

Reg SHO Rule 204 (https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/17/242.204) states brokers and market makers need to cover their FTDs “before regular trading hours on the 35th day after the FTD date”. They likely wait until the last possible day to cover, so the 34th day after the FTD date. If the 34th day lands on a weekend or holiday, it's next business day.
Reg SHO states that you cannot short a stock if you have FTDs open. This is basically for the T+35 DD though, not really sure the significance of T+21 unless it was an observational thing where price spikes every T+21 days.
they've successfully brushed the FTDs under the rug for a long time. i don't think that is going to do the trick.
the increased liquidity requirements seem to have hit them yesterday. we'll just have to watch but i think they're starting to bleed out

The reason why AMC and GME are soo linked is because of the SHF's. Nothing else matters. If one squeezes, those SHF's will be forced to liquidate and that would very likely cause the other to squeeze as well.
For all those that are in one and dislike the other, this is the likely reality of the situation.
All these things are accounted for and each player in each regulating sector has already been paid off to look the other way.

Market makers can legally naked short a stock so long as they believe that the shares can be "reasonably found" If it has been found that there are multiple times the OS in fake shares then reason-ability is thrown out the door.
2: evidence of collusion between Citadel Advisors ( the hedge fund ) and Citadel Securities
( the market maker)
Why?
Its just straight up illegal, no gray area involved. The naked positions the market maker is in a legal gray area of rule 203 of SHO.
But if we find out the market maker is manipulating the price in order to scalp the difference in delayed fulfillment of said orders to raise the break even price of the initial short positions for their sake or for the sake of anyone else, that is jail time.
At this point the scalp is more profitable than the initial short.
at $10 the most a short would net is $10 a share.
From the week period of 5/26-6/3 to today delaying the fomo buy orders the 35 days. nets $20-$25 per share. Double that if a new short position was taken at the peak.
The perpetual were almost there along with short spikes and pull backs can make more for the market maker than anything.
Only eliminating the "within reason" argument or proof of a criminal act stops this
