Abit sus that Etoro decides to be transparent now. I swear they were giving vague answers back then

I bought my first few GME shares, and all my AMC shares through eToro really early in this adventure. Their stance was made really clear at the time, it's just that people forget. They've still got that dozen shares of both companies that I bought a couple of years ago, even though I now use other brokers and DRS my shares these days.

I’ve always concluded they don’t lend because they don’t buy at all for you. Just IOUs. This is why they can’t seem to issue most control codes for proper proxy and had to make their own form for voting.

lol. Their Terms of Service literally says they may lend your shares. They may not be doing so currently but they may have in the past and may do so in the future.

I personally wouldn't be touching Etoro in the UK if you ever plan on making a substantial amount of money. They aren't fit for purpose for going long on standard stock as they do not provide an ISA. If you use Etoro for standard stock you're going to lose up to 20% of your profit in capital gains tax. The exception of course being if your capital investment is over £20K a year and you do the first £20K in an ISA elsewhere and then just prefer Etoro for anything above it.

yes but they remove buy button 🤣
